CSA will not be alone in boycott call

982

Celtic Quick News fully supports the decision by the Supporters’ Association Executive Committee to ask an Emergency Delegates Meeting to vote on whether to selectively boycott clubs which vote for a Newco to be admitted directly into the SPL next season.

We discussed the idea of a boycott on this basis towards the end of last season.  It appears the only appropriate action if our ‘sport’ can be subjugated for financial ends.

I am sure Celtic fans will not be the only ones considering a boycott.  If Newco gains access to the SPL next season there is likely to be a schism between supporters of clubs who opposed the move and those clubs who vote for Newco, despite the wishes of their own supporters.

Kilmarnock might be able to look forward to lower costs for stewarding and turnstile operators, from their own support as well as others.  Still, they would be able to open more than one stand when Newco visit.

What a great five days Walter Smith had.  His attempts to buy assets from Rangers administrators failed, sigh, but he managed to undermine the guys trying to sell tickets to Ibrox next season, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.  Legned.

Is this who @ c mcglaughlin is saying is going to bid for zombies :)))

Then there’s Allan Stewart and Steve McKenna, Labour party donors, who built a property empire together, one arm of which was called Stewart and McKenna Ltd and went bust in 2010 owing a massive tax bill. Stewart & McKenna Ltd had also bought property in Dalmarnock in 2006 for £1.6 million,

I thought that the verbal spin provided by Whyte in his takeover had all the hallmarks of Sir David Murray spin. I reckon that Charles Green is EXACTLY the same.

The big Fraud imho is that Ticketus and Murray are in cahoots.

Murray managed to pay off Lloyds and relieve himself of 140 million pounds worth of obligations.

The Octopus investors will turn out to be Murray and his buddies.

It also allows Murray to hold an emotional gun to the heads of the bear support. Especially those that have millions without his durty name being involved.

It also allows him to continue to profit from ahem Greens profit making plans for running Club 12 or the eventual asset sales.

I think BDO , SFO, Insolvency investigators and HMRC are about to complete the Grier Murray circle.

Really surprised at the lack of debate and comment on this possible scenario or am I going even more crazy ?

    Scotland’s Moral Dilemma.

The conduct of every society has a moral foundation (“a particular system of values and principles of conduct”, Oxford Dictionary, definition 1). It is born of man’s conscience, man’s recognition of natural justice and man’s need for social structure in order to behave in a correct manner (“the extent to which an action is right or wrong”, Oxford Dictionary, definition 2). In their own way, even animals are guided, if not by intellect, then certainly by instinct, to act in a definitive way. It is the code of natural law that dictates how plant life develops. How, then, can a particular group ignore the right and wrong way to act and still maintain it is a part of a moral society? It can not; not unless it no longer recognises the legitimacy of the rules by which it has been governed and society then cooperates with it. If not, the group excludes itself from being part of the whole.

It appears to me that such a divergence is in progress at the current time in Scotland. There is a moral dilemma facing Scottish society. On the one hand there are those who are demanding that the status quo continue in spite of increasing evidence that it is not right to do so. On the other hand, there is a group who are asking for justice and morality not only to be seen to be done but to be realised. I am not claiming that the immoral behaviour is unique to Scotland but because others act in a similar way, does not make it any more right. The old adage of sticking one’s hand in the fire comes to mind. It seems that a large section of Scotland’s population require or even demand that the rest of the country do the wrong thing in order to retain the ideals and structures of a flawed ‘institution’ or, even worse, to simply reap the financial benefits of doing so. Moreover, the impression is given that the governing bodies involved are, by default, showing support for immoral conduct by their lack of condemnation. Ruling authorities, associates, individuals and, most disconcerting of all, the government have expressed their willingness to ‘ignore’ the moral route for mercenary gain. This is not just wrong it is amoral (“lacking a moral sense; unconcerned with the rightness or wrongness of something”, Oxford English Dictionary definition).

Throughout history there have been regular examples of what happens to a society when there is no longer any moral code. Many esteemed historians have argued that the fall of the great ancient and modern civilisations could be sourced in the moral corruption or amoralism that burgeoned in these societies at the time. Such respected opinions place the current decisions of Scottish football and Scottish society with regard to the appropriate penalties for an ex-blemished football club and the status of a replacement club in a bad place. If Scottish society as well as Scottish football does not wish to go down the road of amorality, then the people must influence the decision makers to do the right thing. On the other hand, if Scottish society and football wishes to pander to the baying mob or to wallow in extremely temporary financial gain, it must expect to reap the rewards that such a short term approach will inevitably bring – total collapse. If it is to be so, I, and I hope all decent football supporters, will have no part in it.

Tycoon firm goes under owing £78k as millionaire’s fail to pay tax bill

Aug 1 2010 Exclusive by Norman Silvester, Sunday Mail

A FIRM run by two millionaire property developers has gone bust – owing the taxman £78,000.

Allan Stewart and Steve McKenna’s empire once boasted a turnover of £134million a year.

And the pair’s charity work has been supported by Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Goldie Hawn.

But we told in May how one of their companies, Stewart & McKenna Ltd, was taken to court over a tax bill.

And the firm has now been put into liquidation after the cash was unpaid.

Last week insolvency experts Buchanan Roxburgh were appointed as the liquidators.

Stewart & McKenna Ltd was the first company the two men set up, in 2005.

Since then the duo, whose HQ is in Cambuslang, near Glasgow, have formed more than 20 firms.

In an interview in 2007, the partners claimed they had made £134million the previous year after selling 14,000 flats worldwide.

Last month Labour Party donors Stewart and McKenna said they had given shamed former Glasgow City Council leader Steven Purcell a job with their charity, which has built orphanages in Russia, Indonesia and Africa.

The property developers have previously denied that their empire is in trouble.

The Sunday Mail tried to contact Stewart and McKenna yesterday but they did not return our calls.

A Buchanan Roxburgh spokesman said: “We would appeal to any creditors to contact us.”

I know what I say won’t change anyone’s opinion regarding a boycott. But here’s my tuppence worth anyway.

I can’t understand the arguement that because rangers supporters are advocating a boycott and Celtic supporters are advocating a boycott that both are just the same.

They are being used for two completely diametrically opposite reasons. One is their usual bully boy mentality, whilst the Celtic boycott would be to ensure financial greed was not rewarded over sporting integrity and natural justice.

Just because some evil bampots use Stanley knives to slash other peoples throats, should we refuse to allow carpet fitters to use them for their true use?

A Celtic supporters boycott has got nothing in common with the huns threats and intimidation, it does not “make us as bad as them”

Just as wee boab the carpet fitter is not as bad as billy boy slasher from bridgeton just because the two of them are proud advocates of the use of Stanley knives.

    Context is everything.

  18. Yet more vultures circle the rotting carcass….two dodgy property developers from the east end of Glasgow. I’m sure the Rangers fans will buy into that. Cue more hilarity.

I am sure my nephews football u15/u16’s this season had squads of 18, and rolling subs.

ie, you can rotate then right through the game, and put them back on if you wish.

  27. alos, depending on the league, I also say games at u13’s last season where they had 3 x 25 mins .
