CSA will not be alone in boycott call

982

Celtic Quick News fully supports the decision by the Supporters’ Association Executive Committee to ask an Emergency Delegates Meeting to vote on whether to selectively boycott clubs which vote for a Newco to be admitted directly into the SPL next season.

We discussed the idea of a boycott on this basis towards the end of last season.  It appears the only appropriate action if our ‘sport’ can be subjugated for financial ends.

I am sure Celtic fans will not be the only ones considering a boycott.  If Newco gains access to the SPL next season there is likely to be a schism between supporters of clubs who opposed the move and those clubs who vote for Newco, despite the wishes of their own supporters.

Kilmarnock might be able to look forward to lower costs for stewarding and turnstile operators, from their own support as well as others.  Still, they would be able to open more than one stand when Newco visit.

What a great five days Walter Smith had.  His attempts to buy assets from Rangers administrators failed, sigh, but he managed to undermine the guys trying to sell tickets to Ibrox next season, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.  Legned.

Just in case someone is toting up opinions, I stopped going to away games long ago but didn’t preach to the enthusiastic, to my eyes, feeding a bent system. If the Huns are voted back in, I’ll stick with the season ticket games but Scottish, cup games will be out, even at home. I’m sure lots of other supporters will make some gesture too but wouldn’t like it to be formalised into a boycot though. What if Kilmarnock and St Mirren vote the Neewco in but practically none of their fans show up for the first games of the season?

  7. How long are the CSA advocating the boycott lasts?

I trust that the CSA are advocating that the Celtic support do not attend any matches at Ibrox as part of this boycott?I mean it would be ridiculous for us to still give the team who has created all these problems, our money.

If so ,this means that they are advocating that the Celtic support should turn there backs on the team when we play away to Zombierangers2012.

If the CSA have thought this through, then whoever is doing the thinking is off beam.

To be honest i am personally thoroughly sick of all the oldco newco pash, they have dragged Scottish football through the mire, the arrogance and audacity of the club formally known as RFC is astounding.

I just want them gone, no mercy just gone, any fair minded sane person would look at the misdeeds they have committed and get rid of them toot sweet.

Most of the lobbying is going on behind closed doors we only hear snippets and spin in the press or leaked information that is trying to grab the news agenda one way or the other.

Scottish football instead of dealing with the real issues effecting the vast majority of football supporters are burying there heads in the sand trying to come up with a “get out of jail free card” to get newco back into the SPHell.

They should be looking at a number of things, beginning with pricing, i will not be attending most away games next season, not because i dont want to go, because i do want to go, but the prices are way way to expensive, £24 – £38 for most matches, and £40 odd for the now dead hun, at least we wont be asked to pay that.

I cannot afford that, and i want most of my disposable spend to go direct on Celtic.

The criminalisation of football supporters should be challenged by the SFA/SPL we are the life blood of the game.

Standing areas in grounds, again should the governing bodies not be looking and expediting that process, it’s what the fans want not just us, all supporters.

League reconstruction, a considered look at what proposals the fans want, not just what serves the SPL, most supporters want a revamp of the game, we dont have all the answers but the SFA should be leading that, not looking at a process that is being fast tracked to minimize the consequences to Dodo FC.

Kick off times, no more 12 noon kick offs in Inverness or Dingwall, you can bet your bottom dollar that the 2 early season visits up north will be early kick offs, again its Joe public that suffers, maybe the Sky deal that everyone says wont be signed will be a good thing in the respect we can tell them to stuff these ridiculous start times.

BlantyreKev, great post earlier, thought provoking a lot of thinks to debate in it.

Someone on the last blog posted that McGowan got Sami’s shirt after the last game of the season at Celtic Park, that is categorically not true, a member of our supporters club got it after he gave Sami the Greek flag prior to parading the SPL trophy, Sami came back after a lap of the park and gave him said shirt, he also got Zaluska’s.

So its about time we looked at the real issues effecting football fans in Scotland, there has been so much time and energy spent on Dodo FC its doing ma nut in, i surely cannot be the only one that feels like that, begone beasts, just begone!

To have that sum in the creditors lists suggest that Duff and Phelps know exactly what the outcome of the BTC is and the liability associated with it.

Maybe some of the legal minds would be able to say with certainty whether or not the Duffers could have included that in the creditors list without it being 100% correct, i.e. the BTC has found in favor of HMRC and the liability from that and Whyte’s mess amounts to the £94,426,217.22 sum?

I get really cheesed off with this assertion that, because I’ve had couple of years when because of work situations etc I haven’t been able to attend games regularly that makes me less a Celtic fan and less entitled to an opinion than those who’ve had the good fortune to be able to, and afford to, attend every match.

I’m done explaining, and justifying, that here and elsewhere.

You might think it is harsh. Indeed, you may choose to lend financial support to those clubs which have made a mockery of our league. That is a personal choice for you, as I have made personal choices of my own.

I cannot think anything of those people than they are daft for continuing to sponsor and finance the very people who have destroyed football in this country. I know full well why I have made some of the decisions I have, in following (or not) Celtic. I can see no logic at all in putting money in the pockets of people who are taking a great big dump on our club, our fans, indeed even the wishes of their own support.

We owe these people NOTHING. To say you are not helping them but supporting our team is a fallacy, because they will never show us the proper respect if we continue to bow to that logic.

This sounds terribly arrogant, and I know there are people who will say I am bowing into the Land of the Hun by using the word “respect” in that context; but I know this. We are now the strongest club in the land, by miles. How we use that strength is what matters … but that strength should be respected.

Pascal, when he spoke of respect, said “Law without force is impotent.” The SPL and SFA have abrogated their own responsibilities and made the entire game hostage to the whims of eleven chairman who will put self interest first. The fans of their own clubs have already played their cards. I think it is right and fitting that our own supporters have played their card.

Using strength to bully and harrass, as the Hun has done time and again, is using strength for your own sake, and for its own sake. Using strength to keep these people on the straight and narrow, and to inform them that their actions will have wide-ranging consequences, might tip the balance between and prevent these people taking a decision with an appalling aftermath.

We can only transform the Scottish game – for the betterment of everyone in it – if we use our present position of strength. Asking other clubs to acknowledge and respect our strong hand is not arrogance … is it necessary if we are to be taken seriously when we take the lead in making the changes happen.

For that to happen, clubs need to be very clear; the Celtic supporters are not sheep to be treated as mugs.

  20. canamalar

I am not jumping to any conclusions.

I have put a question mark after my comments ,because i am unsure what the exact CSA statement is .

    TT

  21. Not sure if this has been brought up already but surely a closed ballot on the vote could go against the other clubs?

I’m basing this on the fact that the Hun support have always said they will boycott any clubs who votes against them.

So if they were to get voted back on the slimmest margin then they wouldn’t know who to boycott.

You could find they just boycott everyone and then what have the other clubs gained.

Also at present Club 12 ain’t even got any guaranteed season ticket holders themselves so they cannot guarantee squat!

The Sky deal is safe, so this doesn’t help their cause and the other clubs might even find themselves coming into the reckoning for European places or even the cups, so no gain there either.

In fact the more you think about it there is very little to like about allowing Club 12 in.

    Just a thought!

  22. Paul67

Good lead, but I have my doubts on the CSA statement and its content, which of course should have been unnecessary, just like the voting process itself.

It’s Celtic FC/PLC/the Board not the Celtic Support who should have influence over the other SPL Clubs, because instinctively Celtic are the no vote, and we shouldn’t need our Supporters to tell anyone that, or that they will boycott away grounds.

It’s the fact that there is to be a vote, that’s wrong, even if natural justice and the right outcome is achieved.

The auction will be on Tubridy’s show on RTE 2fm 9-11am so listen in if you can! The flag is signed by the team so hopefully it fetches a lot of money. His appeal is with a registered charity so if any of you are taking part in any fundraising events please consider doing them for Oscar. Individual donations are brilliant but someone organising an event eg a fun run or 10k run for example can raise hundreds if not thousands of pounds.
