CSA will not be alone in boycott call

982

Celtic Quick News fully supports the decision by the Supporters’ Association Executive Committee to ask an Emergency Delegates Meeting to vote on whether to selectively boycott clubs which vote for a Newco to be admitted directly into the SPL next season.

We discussed the idea of a boycott on this basis towards the end of last season.  It appears the only appropriate action if our ‘sport’ can be subjugated for financial ends.

I am sure Celtic fans will not be the only ones considering a boycott.  If Newco gains access to the SPL next season there is likely to be a schism between supporters of clubs who opposed the move and those clubs who vote for Newco, despite the wishes of their own supporters.

Kilmarnock might be able to look forward to lower costs for stewarding and turnstile operators, from their own support as well as others.  Still, they would be able to open more than one stand when Newco visit.

What a great five days Walter Smith had.  His attempts to buy assets from Rangers administrators failed, sigh, but he managed to undermine the guys trying to sell tickets to Ibrox next season, so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.  Legned.

  1. I would say putting your hard earned cash into Celtic does make you a better supporter.

I agree with you. I have felt this to be true for some time. Perhaps it explains why there has been no public outcry from “disgruntled investors.”

So if you make the decision due to a hard edged family budget to lets say keep your ever more expensive child care instead of buying a ST you are a lesser Celtic fan ?

    I dont agree.

I think on this subject RFC (deceased) have managed to unite the fans of all the other SPL Clubs. The problem is the clubs themselves might not be listening.

To me its straightforward enough, there shouldn’t be a vote and they should join the queue with the other ‘non league’ clubs wishing to join the senior game in Scotland.

If it was any other club there would there would be no discussion.

I have thought that might be a good possibility since day1. Especially because of the use of a separate Ticketus Fund.

dont know if anyone has previously suggested this. if we boycott all away matches at the yes voters i would presume this includes ibrox. all that will happen there is that they will sell the whole ground to their own fans. would it not be a reasonable idea for us as a support to take 10 tickets, yes i did say 10. then the police would have to insist on segregation resulting in huns not being able to sell those seats. just a wee thought

I suppose, Leftclick, if HMRC had anything in excess of 25% of the debt, the total sum is irrelevant for the purposes of a vote on the CVA proposal and any sums due to anyone else, including Ticketus, matter not a jot. HMRC were in a position to put the kibosh on it regardless.

    “NewCo Registered in England

I saw in an article the other day, that the NewCo was originally registered in England, and it got me to thinking.

Doesn’t this PROVE the company and club are seperate? If they are one and the same, then Rangers are now an English club, and can apply to play in England – which we know we can’t. If they are one and the same, how can Rangers be an English company, but operate in the Scottish league?”

I can understand the support gathering for a boycott of clubs who vote for newco, one I support. I am also realistic and pragmatic enough to realise the financial implications that would drive other clubs to vote in favour of allowing a newco fast tracked entry. Our club is in the fortunate financial position of strength to absorb any possible losses and allow us to judge the situation from purely a sporting integrity standpoint. Our fellow clubs do not share this luxury. Rather than just threaten them further with the financial sanctions of refusing to attend games and pressurising sponsors, how would you feel by offering to support a positive aspect of campaigning for a no vote by committing as a support to attend away fixtures in as many numbers as possible to try and ameliorate the financial losses that will be incurred by other clubs if a no vote is secured. If the financial consequences can be alleviated for clubs we stand a greater chance of sporting integrity being upheld. If we are willing to punish those clubs who support a yes vote surely we must commit to rewarding those who vote no? Rather than place chairmen financially in a lose, lose situation we can as supporters of all clubs commit to back our clubs and offer another, more appealing way rather than the threat of footballing armageddon?

Under SYFA rules, and most associated leagues, you are able to have a maximum of 22 registered players at any given time.(Check with your individual League Secretary to confirm)

For most Youth Leagues you are allowed to have up to 16 players listed on your team sheet for a game. All 5 subs can be used on a “rolling” basis, meaning they can be taken off and put back on again as the coach requires.

    Hope this helps
