CUP DRAW LIVE: WHEN AND WHERE

1

THE draw for the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports League Cup will be made immediately after Celtic’s tie against Ross County in Dingwall tonight.

The holders are aiming to be in the ballot when the smoke clears at the Global Energy Stadium where they have already triumphed this season with a 3-1 win over Malky Mackay’s side in the Premiership.

Kyogo Furuhashi claimed the opener for the visitors after a scoreless first-half, but Alex Iacavetti equalised – the only goal Joe Hart has conceded in five outings this time out – and it took a couple of late efforts from on-loan Mortiz Jenz and Liel Abada to secure the points.

SMILES BETTER…Ange Postecoglou proudly holds the newly-won Premier Sports League Cup trophy after the 2-1 victory over Hibs in December.

The silverware became Ange Postecoglou’s first trophy success as Parkhead gaffer when Kyogo fired in a double second-half salvo to down Hibs in a dramatic grand finale at Hampden six days before Christmas after Paul Hanlon had given the Easter Road outfit the lead shortly after the turnaround.

Celtic have claimed the trophy five times in the past six years and have won the competition 20 times in their history.

Tonight’s game in the Highland will kick off at 7.45pm and there will be extra-time if required which will push the draw back 30 minutes.

Penalty-kicks can also come into play if needed to decide the winners which will further delay the ballot.

CHEERS…Kyogo Furuhashi takes the acclaim after his double strike at Hampden.

The draw will be shown live on Premier Sports who are beaming live the action from Dingwall. It will also be streamed live on Premier Sports Player.

Also playing this evening are: Hearts v Kilmarnock, Livingston v Dundee United and Motherwell v Inverness Caley Thistle.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are one of the first through to the next round after their 3-1 success over third-tier Queen of the South at Ibrox last night.

In other ties, Aberdeen needed extra-time before overcoming Annan Athletic 4-1, Partick Thistle beat Arboath 1-0 at Firhill and Dundee eased to a 3-0 win over Falkirk who had Gary Oliver red-carded.

The quarter-finals are due to take place during the midweek of October 18-20.
