Dedryck strolls past England

1089

Hot on the heels of a former Celtic player becoming the most expensive defender in transfer history, we watched Dedryck Boyata stroll through Belgium’s win against England last night.  I would be more animated on this subject if he was secured on a five year contract, but as he his current deal only has one year to go, such a high profile performance could reduce our options for the player.

How many of you thought we would be in this situation after the Ibrox game in March?  That day Brendan Rodgers said there was better to come from Dedryck.  He is still not the finished article, but he’s a key cog in a team who fancy their chances in Russia.

Stiliyan Petrov match worn Champions League shirt raffle

We have a very special raffle, which ends this afternoon! The shirt Stiliyan Petrov wore in Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich during our 2003 Champions League campaign is available. You can buy a ticket for £1 here on ebay.  Stan signed the shirt.

All proceeds go to the Stiliyan Petrov Foundation to aid research into leukaemia and cancer treatments.  Stiliyan’s recover from leukaemia shows us just how far treatments have come, but as our own CQN community knows too well, more progress is needed.  The draw will be made at Woodside Hotel, Aberdour, where the 14th annual CQN Open Golf Day is now underway.

Hope to see you later.

    Well too true…

Guess most of us were expecting something like this.

But if they get away by arguing the PAYE Tax Debt wasn’t overdue on 31 March 2011 as it didn’t go to the Collection department until May 2011.

It will be a travesty of Sandy Bryson proportions…

How they reconcile this with sanctioning CW for with holding PAYE who knows. Guess where there’s a will there’s a way.

When Neymar gets fouled with impunity is that ok then ??

Cheers MIT, just caught your reply. Looked more like a genuine attempt to stop the player scoring than win the ball.

Gene, well spotted on the ‘keepers moving off their line. The big Dane was particularly at fault on that one.

    Of course it is not.

But where did i say that?

He gets fouled often but his gamesmanship and diving leave a bad taste and perhaps contribute to the lack of sympathy fans have for him.

I was working with 3 Brazilians last week who all wanted him dropped because of his antics.

Jeez! I mean, what the hell is the Official doing on the byline? Can’t he see that the Goalie is 3 feet off his line, when the ball is kicked?

  9. Just how far are the keepers allowed to move of their lines?Idiot on the post letting them go 3 yards off the line.wHat is the point of these useless trumpets.I can’t stand that goalkeeper Schmeical,or whatever his name is.

    Hrvatski @9:49 . Well said?

Could they match the great Croatian team of ‘98? I think they will, if not go one step better.

Cathedral … not saying I agree with the ref’s call on that one (it was borderline). Just saying how it will be explained (or rationalized, depending on which team a person was wanting to win)

My point was cheating is cheating and in my opinion Jorgensen couldn’t get the ball and was giving his team a chance of the opposition missing the penalty….

Neymar is the “easy” target because of his history with us, but the 3 Brazilians that want him dropped…. you must have found the only 3 in the country… unless it was 3 Celtic fans that had Brazilians you were working with

Yes, it was really stupid to expect anything else I guess… Nothing really changes, I’m embarrassed for these folk tying themselves in knots to ensure justice doesn’t rear it’s head.

They seem to take some perverse delight in brass necking it…

    I agree cheating is cheating.

But there is no comparison to a persistent cheat and a guy who makes a last ditch tackle to stop a goal.

Neymar often makes the deliberate choice to cheat to gain an advantage which is different from an instinctive last gasp tackle to stop a goal which could have resulted in your team going home.

I have only (knowingly) ever met 3 CQNrs.

Firstly on several occasions, I met the CQN legend El Diego Bhoy (RIP).

Secondly at CQN Corner, I briefly met Doc to collect a couple of CQN badges.

And the third meet took place at the Parkrun in Pollok Park one Saturday morning a few years ago. A poster had mentioned he was doing the run and I said I would be too and he told me to look out for a guy with a green t-shirt. We introduced ourselves at the start line, had a brief chat about Celtic and off we went on the run. When I got to the finish line the guy in the green t-shirt was waiting to clap me over the line despite having finished a good 5 minutes previous and he could have been on his way home instead.

The guy in the green t-shirt was of course JOBO, a fine man indeed and he will be missed on here.

There are plenty Brazilians in New York.

They all said he is a great player but not good for team harmony and his antics are embarrassing .

Am not saying Neymar doesn’t flaunt the rules but even the centre halves at this tournament fall over as if hit by a truck, again am not saying what Neymar does is right but Shaquiri, Grizeman and every other striker tries to get their team an advantage whether we like it or not (Jorgensen tonight and it nearly hit his country into the last 8) I have never known fitba fans to be so judgemental when it comes to Neymar :-)

Enjoy the rest of the WC at least it keeps us posting about fitba until the real fitba stats back on the 10/07/2018 in Armenia :-)

I bet that prayer was said many times in Croatia tonight.

Russia next and, if they proceed, Sweden/Switzerland/Columbia/England. Croatia must have a decent chance amongst that group so equalling 98 is a possibility but a couple of big IFs in there.

My grandson is kitted out in his Rakatic kit for every game so he may be the lucky charm.

  21. I will be in New York between the 6th and 11th of July and, again, between the 14th and 17th (in between I spend 3 days at Gettysburg.

On the off chance that I earn enough Brownie points to take in a Celtic match on TV, where would they be shown? ( I will be based in Hotels near Times Square in both periods).

    Any advice accepted.
