CELTIC’S in-form striker Moussa Dembele has been named the Premiership Player of the Month for September after a string of sensational performances.

The 20-year-old French ace became an instant Hoops favourite after netting a hat-trick in the 5-1 thrashing of comedy club Sevco Rangers.

Dembele, who arrived from Fulham in the summer as Brendan Rodgers’ first signing, followed that up with a double in the 6-1 victory over Kilmarnock and he also netted two in the thrilling 3-3 Champions League draw with Manchester City.

The powerful youngster, likened by some critics to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, celebrated his debut for the French Under-21 side with a goal in their 5-1 win over Georgia last week.

He followed that up with another in the 3-0 victory over Northern Ireland at Windsor Park on Tuesday.

Dembele, who was also shortlisted for the coveted Golden Boy award, will get the opportunity to add to his impressive tally if he gets the nod to lead the attack against Motherwell at Parkhead on Saturday.

He has scored 12 goals in 17 appearances so far in a whirlwind campaign.
