My expectation is Den Bosch will be better than an equivalent second-tier Scottish team (any of whom would give us a game on a summer evening like tonight), so they will hopefully present a suitable challenge to help stretch the legs.
Most attention will focus on Dedryck Boyata, but no matter if he looks great, or lousy, you will learn nothing of his abilities tonight. For Dedryck the objective is to get the limbs and lungs moving, just as with his new team-mates.
I hear Saidy Janko (19) was spotted walking into Ross Hall Hospital this morning. Although known as a right back, Saidy can apparently play right side of central midfield and as a winger. While he’ll be the fourth right back in the first team squad, positional definitions aren’t what they used to be. At Celtic in particular, there’s often little difference between a full back and a winger (the former can hopefully tackle, the latter, less so). They both have a responsibility to make runs into the opposition box, and to track back and defend.
Reports this morning that Dundee United have agreed a £1m fee for Nadir Ciftci with Gary Caldwell’s Wigan will be more palatable to United fans than seeing another player agree terms with direct rivals Celtic. The fee agreed is within Celtic’s grasp, should they be sufficiently motivated to move for the player. After a rising through the ranks, Wigan have endured two relegations in recent years.
They still have Premier League parachute payments coming in, which explains the seven figure bid. It remains to be seen what Dave Whelan’s 23-year-old grandson makes of the opportunity, now he’s in day-to-day control. There’s an old Dutch proverb about families with money going from clogs and back to clogs within three generations.

Celtic sign Man U flop after being outbid by League 1 minnows for Ciftci
Daily Record tomorrow?

My mistake, rectified later. Easy to get these wee teams mixed up :-)
The young fella Conor Hazard is the best goalkeeper in Ireland for his age apparently.
Former Gaelic footballer from Downpatrick – a wee town that is Celtic to the hilt.
HH.
I have never been a fan of Aiden I was surprised with the amount we got for him from the Russians.I will stick with my initial judgement of the player and bringing him back is a no thanks from me. H.H.
Janko earns Reserves gong
Manchester United fans around the world have voted Saidy Janko the 2014 Denzil Haroun Reserves Player of the Year award, capping a wonderful debut season for the Swiss powerhouse.
Janko, who joined the Reds from FC Zurich on 31 August, has emerged as a key figure for Warren Joyce’s Under-21s and has excelled on the right flank, earning a nomination for this prestigious award alongside Reece James and Charni Ekangamene.
After accepting his prize from Nicky Butt, the Zurich-born defender thanks the Reds supporters for their votes and reflected on a brilliant first season with United by saying: “I’m very proud.
“I didn’t expect something like this. I’ve settled in pretty well because Manchester United is like a family, so I made friends really quickly. Warren Joyce had confidence in me and gave me a chance to prove myself.”
Regarding Aiden…those who say ‘bring him home’ will probably upset les miserables on CQN.

Are we sure this is the actual Saidy Janko we’ve signed?
Given he’s not a known face yet I hear there have been a few chancers posing as him around Parkhead way today. However they are conspicuous by their less than athletic appreances, carrying a bit of blubber in some cases.
So will the real slim Saidy please stand up?
I thank you.

Was at hydro last night and on the way MrsCRC suggested that on way back you could also do a flyby if we were looking for a taxi. Amazing how they restore those grudges in their memories for so long :-)
Hoop you are well?

I said many times in the past that celiac needed to add graphics and artworks all round the stadium.
What they do now is brilliant.
I am quite partial to reading the views on the wall inside the stadium.
Last weekend I took photos of some bricks. The statues and the new banners.
Absolutely all adding to the magic venue that is paradise.
Next up I want them to put on those giant searchlighta you get that beam up to the night sky. Add them and it gives the feeling of the old floodlights.

Corkcelt.
H.T. is fine and dandy.
He’s at the game tonight. Enjoying his holidays, I’ve passed on your kind comments. Although are you sure you’re not getting him mixed up with someone else.)))))
Young Donnelly was on loan at East Stirling last season with my nephew, seen him a few times very direct attacking midfielder. Tidy player
Well done Celtic, Janko seems a great signing, only worry – is this part of a deal to take Virgil to Manu

sniff,sniff, thank you. :)))
Re-signing McGeady would be like winning 30k from a 100 quid bet and then giving the bookie 15k back to get your original betting slip.
No slight in the player but we got great value when we had him, got overpaid for him, he got a great experience and pay and is still playing for a decent team. There is no sense in him coming back.
CTV working fine here :)))
Hello again friends, it’s been a long, lonely, empty six weeks without the ‘tic.
Well, tonight is the first opportunity we will have to moan about our form in a pre-season game.
Brilliant!
Donnelly in the “Jo-Hansen position” tonight.

Noticed that myself but just thought he probably on holiday or something.. U know them teachers.
Fine poster and Celt .. Clearly shines through in his posts on here.
I don’t use any other Celtic sites so if was annoyed would still lurk and post on occasion just .. Wouldn’t let somebody I don’t even know annoy me that much.
Enjoy the game anyone who gets to it.. 4hrs in an airport for me .

Can’t see Aiden helping us. Not as quick as some of the players we already have. And a bit old for him to be changing his game. Ronny would want him to pass the ball quicker. So, I just don’t see how this would work.
Also, if Steven Fletcher’s wages are a problem, how could we afford Aiden’s wages?
Anyway, as always, once they pull on that jumper……
Here’s me sitting with CTV and an illegal stream, guess which is the better quality ?
Remember ghuys tonight is just a friendly and failing to win does not merit calling for Ronny’s head ;-)
Allez le verts!
Corkcelt
Are you OK though?
Worrying unnecessarily about a phantom flounce may be more stressful than dealing with a bone fide flounce.
Maybe HT is using his summer off to do a research thesis on the root causes, impacts and ongoing effects on online societies of a flounce; ironically invoking the self same effects by his absence.
Or I could have had pints in the train station!
Just watching Channel 4 news…article about women,’s footie…and the featured team was called Morningwood Rovers?
Really? Morningwood?
