For all his faults, and they are many, Romanov and other shareholders in Ukio Bankas have ‘invested’ countless millions in Hearts, money they are unlikely to get back with the residential property market so depressed. They have also not exposed the club to outrageous fortune – the overwhelming majority of debt is owed to the bank itself, balances at HMRC and other creditors are low, and they pay their football debts. This means that if Hearts go into administration, the route back through a CVA would be clear. The only serious losers would be staff made redundant, while Ukio would face a write-off, perhaps already acknowledged internally.
I was surprised at the news Danny McGrain was appointed first team coach yesterday but also delighted. Danny’s was not a name mentioned for the position when Alan Thompson left the club but he is immersed in the fabric and culture of our club. ‘In the days of changing ways’ a strong thread of continuity is an invaluable asset in ensuring the new generations acquire the important elements of our identity.

Respect your view, but I valued my religious / cultural development, and still do …….. Ask yourself why this is not an issue in England, Wales, in any other Country other than Scotland.
A very good development is that an increasing number of Non-Catholics are actually sending their children to Catholic schools, and vice-versa…….. So, choice is now to the fore………….

Another reason why I’m very much against independence just now – the Scottish establishment is far more corrupt than the British one. The legal system here is horrendous. The police service here is horrendous.
I echo weeminger’s post just there. After the “bill”, and the nonsense surrounding it, who does Salmond appoint as the Chief Copper role for the new national scottish polis. Genuinely frightening.
Given the current inability of Scotland to self-analyse, independence at this point in time would be madness.

think it will be a bit much to expect a 61 year-old over-lapping full-back to play for 90 minutes!

I’ve known a number of folk that were trained at Jordanhill, but none at St Andrews. I’m not involved with the teaching profession at all. Would be interested to hear you elaborate on that though? (Personally, I think all teachers are a wee bit dumb, and sanctimonious in their igonorance, between you and me – they are especially dangerous when they send their pupils to represent their point of view in national debates though :)) )
(Although I hasten to add, my primary teacher at St Augustine’s was the main mhan!)
