D&P: Rangers could cease before end of season

676

Lots to chew over in this afternoon’s statement from Duff and Phelps but this nugget grabbed my attention:

“If we proceed with an offer that is based on a sale of the business and assets, then we would expect the football club share to be transferred within a matter of weeks, with a preference of prior to the end of the current season.”

This means that unless a CVA is concluded beforehand, Duff and Phelps plan to ask the football authorities to award Rangers’ share in the SPL to a new club prior to the end of this season.  This share is worth money, Duff and Phelps would be able to sell it to generate cash, so there is no harm in them asking!

The enormous problem for the league is that the Newco would not employ any footballers and the final date in the season for signing non-contracted player passed a month ago.  Rangers players are employed by Rangers FC PLC and their registrations cannot be transferred to any other football club outside of a transfer window.

In the event of a liquidation (which Duff and Phelps have not accepted as a likelihood), player registrations revert to the SFA.  They are not assumed by a phoenix Newco to pick the following week.  There is absolutely no circumstances for a club to avoid liquidation and still manage to transfer their players to a Newco outside a transfer window.

How did they concoct such a fantasy?

This is a Fifa rule and cannot be altered by the SFA or SPL.  The entire debacle has become farcical.

SPL clubs, who vote on Friday on whether to introduce a procedure which would allow a Newco to be allowed straight into the league, have the proverbial gun pointing to their heads with this statement.  They must stand firm and refused to become embroiled in the mess.

The other SPL clubs and the SFA did not design this crisis at a member club and it is not their responsibility to resolve it.  We will find out soon enough whether member clubs take account of the overwhelming voice of their supporters on this matter.

The day the hun lost to Killie, done my coupon in big time, i will remember it till the day I die.

Superb effort by the young hoops so far, embdy know how the young fella is, I won’t attempt to spell his name.

I hope Fojut is no on the crock list, would be just our luck.

The hun, what a pantomime, there’s really no much you can say.

They will make the end of the season, they need the couple of mill, D and P will see to it.

I found it very amusing that the orcs were bemoaning their lack of a NextGen spot.

More so when you consider their place in the u19s league this season. Or last season. Or the one before that. Or the previous one.

  8. Yesterday I answered questions about how serious Jaroslaw Fojut injury was?

I read that he had scans today and results will be known tomorrow. I suppose the news are good for him today. Nothing wrong happening so far.

When I yesterday googled Jaroslaw+Fojut+injured+English language I noticed discussion on other Celtic forums on that matter. People were asking if there is clause in the contract telling that Celtic might get rid of the player who is injured, one leg amputed. I don’t know if there is such clause but I’m sure that Fojut could play well against Rangers with one leg.

  9. Richard Gordon speculating that more Celtic fans have turned up at Hampden as they have got louder and louder.

    Good Evening,

As you are aware I have for some time been highlighting the plight of Children who suffer from Neuroblastoma — and in recent weeks I have been letting all and sundry know about a wee girl called Niamh Curry.

No matter how hard I try to get the message across, and no matter how good I may be at stringing a few words together from behind a keyboard, I will always remain totally inept at describing the plight of Niamh, Vanessa, Oscar or anyone else who suffers from this disease– and equally inept at describing the unbelievable bravery and strength of character that these kids, and their family and friends seem to have— maybe NEED to have.

Now I know many on here like a good song lyric so here is the start of a beauty.

    If a picture paints a thousand words…………

Yesterday, the guy that won the London Wheelchair Marathon crossed the Atlantic and did it for Niamh.

  12. Phew!

Was just at Heathrow there at half six when the Concorde from Noo Yoik landed.

Saw Bill Miller come through customs – bit of a kerfuffle around him, lots of big beefy security guys (pretty sure I saw Big Daddy amongst them with his Union Jack embroidered on that big mankini thing he wears. Though God knows where the curly lead on his talking-into-his-shirtsleeve cuff mic was plugged into…).

Anyway, da woid on da street was he was carrying half a mill in cash, hence the heavy mob!

Tried to run over and grab a minute of his exponentially valuable time, but he jumped into Lord Brockett’s old Ferrari and sped off!

More news as it comes in…

  13. Zbyszek

Almost spluttered a beer over my laptop at that post.

One leg, a crutch and a parrot on the shoulder. That should catch attention LOL.

  14. Zbyszek

Thanks for the info, hope the bhoy will be ok.

I watched him in a few games since he signed for us, he looks a decent player, good enough as you say to play against thems with one leg :>)

  15. tommytwiststommyturns

Thanks, trying to do my best.

I really googled that yestarday and became astounded of my forehead. No bad news here, but people on Celtic forums are discussing if Celtic can get rid of the player. Strange that.

I read today on Slask forum today: we don’t know if Fojut will play (will be ready) in our next game?

  16. Have not posted in a while but dip in now and again and all the talk about Bobby Tait reminds me of the Hearts match at Celtic Park that year which Tait was the referee. Stephan Mahe sustained a bad ankle injury which stopped play for between 5 and 10 minutes during the second half and ended his season. We were denied one stonewall penalty and with Celtic camped in Hearts half the bould Bobby blew the whistle at exactly 4.45 pm no injury time

I had my late Father at the match and i will never forget his words after the match ” I see we are still playing against 14″ may he rest in peace

  17. 6-0.

Previous record in the final is 5-0. That was in 2007 for Rangers. Against us.

What is your take on another of crazy Miller statements tonight. Says he has spoken to SFA & SPFA today.

Zbyszek – we do have some people who flap like an albatross at the first sign of trouble, but we’ve had such a bad season with injuries including our under-19’s.

It would be no surprise if our new signing was crocked as well….injured for months without actually being at the club!

How are Legia doing this season?
