Duff & Phelps £4m shortfall

761

Following on from the SFA issuing an important announcement just as the Olympics opening ceremony was getting underway (Mr Regan, take a long hard look in the mirror), Duff and Phelps yesterday issued their final progress report to creditors of The Rangers Football Club PLC (in administration), recently renamed RFC 2012 PLC.

….On a Sunday, when the Ryder Cup was guaranteed top dominate sports reporting.  Anyone would think they didn’t want you to read it.

Take your time to read the report in detail here.  For those of us who follow football finances there is a treasure trove of information seldom revealed in this detail.

During the period in administration covered by the report, 14 February 2012 to 25 September 2012, the club incurred trading shortfall of £4,007,635.  Quite a remarkable figure.

The administrators received £2,457,420 remuneration on 10 August while the club paid £1,325,756 in legal fees as well as over £400k in legal and administration disbursements.

Buried (very) deep into the report is money paid to PR companies.  They paid Spreckley £28,941 for media consulting in relation to the administration.  They also paid Media House £141,441 for media consultancy in relation to the company.  Is this another remarkable figure?  Some creditors may be surprised but there is none here. Duff and Phelps will no doubt be prepared to explain to creditors the value they gained from this expenditure on their behalf at the forthcoming creditors’ meeting.

Duff and Phelps will soon be discharged and the club will be handed over to BDO who will liquidate it.

  1. It’s always good news for us,though perhaps not the player, if they are not involved in the poison that is the SFA’s flagship.

Anything that hastes the end of their existence is OK by me.

They do not represent anything in Scotland that is worth representing, therefore, the sooner they are restructured the better.

I daresay Commons couldn’t give a monkeys about a Scotland call up.

Declaring for Scotland was a last resort for player who was resigned to never playing internationals OR in the Champions League.

I think he’s more than happy with his lot now he’s playing CL football and winning medals, he also became a father last year I believe and will be happy with the extra time off the international break provides.

Less chance of him getting injured too.

Can’t say I give a monkeys either – their loss!

I will look on the bright side I think…

There are hundreds of such examples of Celtic players who were rarely

selected for Scotland, stretching back to Jimmy McGrory, no less.

    Plus ça change

  5. No Commons, looks like he has taken over from Fletcher for being the bad boy.

I could not give a toss to be honest about Scotland anyway.

  6. Chasbhoy,

There’s a Tim shop in Creetown 10 mile along the road if that helps. Can’t remember the name of it but as you enter Creetown from the petrol station end the pub is on your right hand side about 300 yards from the petrol station.

    Hail! Hail!

I have read it. See Tony Hamilton’s tweet below. That is how Celtic’s media team reply to Levein’s latest mistake

Really no Kris Commons? Really? Mind-boggling. He is the best player in the country at the minute. Celtic’s gain, I suppose.

Surprised Fletcher is in the squad, desperate move by a desperate man.

    Delighted Kris isn’t.

5 hours to go, feeling good but aprehensive.

    Newton Stewart ?

Once rented a cottage on the outskirts of Creetown — [ it was the Live Aid weekend – I wanted to escape ]

Whilst there , I learned 2 things about Newton Stewart .

Much of The Wicker Man was filmed in /around Newton Stewart .

Bill Drummond [ KLF ] spent some of his early life there . His old man was the Church of Scotland Minister.

  10. Levein only doing his masters bidding with regards Fletcher and Commons,

Glad he was overlooked as he is a very valuable player for us.

Levein and Scottish national team deserving of each other.

He is only holding position till another crap hun gets the job and continues the tradition of reducing our standing in the game,

Once had the misfortune of paying money to watch Scotland at Hampden and subjected myself to those jolly japesters in the tartan army booing the greatest Scottish player ever.

Left early and have never supported since,

The recent crap from tartan army spokesman about Black being booed only reinforced my view

On the KC for Scotland issue, I hope the wee man announces his international retirement. He’s about to turn 30 and we need him to concentrate on doing his best for the Hoops and staying injury-free! You can see how much we missed him last season.

  17. This is hilarious!

A collective of Rangers groups calling themselves, The Unified Supporters Platform, have called on the Rangers support to boycott the next round of the League Cup , should they be drawn against any SPL side away from home. In a statement on several websites, it read:

“The Unified Supporters Platform calls on

the Rangers support to withdraw its financial

input to any SPL club by boycotting the next

round of the League Cup, drawn on 4th

October, should our opposition be ANY

Scottish Premier League club away from

    home.”

It added: “Since the turn of the year,

Rangers FC and its supporters have been

    abused, maligned, derided and disrespected

by the supporters and certain hierarchy of

SPL member clubs. These cowardly clubs,

who decided Rangers were not needed in

the SPL, attempted to destroy us when we

had reached our lowest ebb. Unfortunately

for them, and to their bitter displeasure, the

Rangers survived this trauma. We are

stronger than ever and our magnificent

    history continues unbroken.

“Our supporters have waited patiently for

apt opportunity to respond to some of the

    poisoned hatred and unrepentant vitriol

directed, both at them and the club, by

starving SPL clubs of much-needed cash. By

boycotting this potential fixture the message

    the support sends out is loud and clear;

‘Their hate-filled stance against our club and

its support will never be forgotten’.”

    You cannot be serious?

Club Football and International are two totally separate things?

Also while I disagree with her opinion, if asked I would play for Ireland over Scotland as I consider myself to be Irish, but there are many others who agree to play for Ireland, Scotland, Wales and plenty of other countries instead of the country of their birth just to advance their career

    …….

Now I agree it is a stupid decision, but I would be prefer a gand total of zero Celtic players in ANY International squads for any country, but it is up to the player if he offers his services to his national (either through birth or choice) team

  19. FIVE people were arrested at the Scottish Cup clash between Highland League side Forres Mechanics and Glasgow Rangers.

Four were Rangers supporters, with one arrested for attending the game in breach of a football banning order, two for football-related disorder and one for abusive behaviour.

One Forres supporter was also arrested for abusive behaviour.

All were kept in custody and had been due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday.

  24. I reckon their bottle will go if we get the first goal or we stop them from scoring for any length of time.

“After the defeat to Barcelona last time out, this game against Celtic is of massive importance to us,” Unai Emery stressed. “No one really gave us a chance at the Nou Camp, but we performed very well and that gave us a lot of confidence. “The Luzhniki Stadium is going to be a fortress for us, and I am fully expecting our fans to get right behind us, and I am sure this will give the team a massive boost.”

More than 350 jobs are being lost in Scotland following the collapse of the JJB chain of sports shops.

The firm closed 26 of its stores across Scotland on Monday, with only four units remaining open.

Nearly 2,000 more jobs are to go in other parts of the UK, with a total of 133 shops being closed.

The Sports Direct chain is to take over 20 JJB stores – fewer than had been hoped for – in a move that will save some 550 jobs across the UK.

It has also bought the JJB brand and website.

Administrators KPMG said the JJB stores that will remain open in Scotland after being bought by Sports Direct are in Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre, Airdrie, Cumbernauld and Elgin were bought by SportsDirect.

Having discussed it with her, Laura’s opinion is that you shouldn’t be allowed to represent a country unless you were born in the country or your father was Scottish. Fair enough that’s her opinion

I have pointed out though, that Scotland wouldn’t have qualified for Italia 90, Sweden 92, Euro 96 + France 98 under her eligibility rules :)
