Duff & Phelps £4m shortfall

761

Following on from the SFA issuing an important announcement just as the Olympics opening ceremony was getting underway (Mr Regan, take a long hard look in the mirror), Duff and Phelps yesterday issued their final progress report to creditors of The Rangers Football Club PLC (in administration), recently renamed RFC 2012 PLC.

….On a Sunday, when the Ryder Cup was guaranteed top dominate sports reporting.  Anyone would think they didn’t want you to read it.

Take your time to read the report in detail here.  For those of us who follow football finances there is a treasure trove of information seldom revealed in this detail.

During the period in administration covered by the report, 14 February 2012 to 25 September 2012, the club incurred trading shortfall of £4,007,635.  Quite a remarkable figure.

The administrators received £2,457,420 remuneration on 10 August while the club paid £1,325,756 in legal fees as well as over £400k in legal and administration disbursements.

Buried (very) deep into the report is money paid to PR companies.  They paid Spreckley £28,941 for media consulting in relation to the administration.  They also paid Media House £141,441 for media consultancy in relation to the company.  Is this another remarkable figure?  Some creditors may be surprised but there is none here. Duff and Phelps will no doubt be prepared to explain to creditors the value they gained from this expenditure on their behalf at the forthcoming creditors’ meeting.

Duff and Phelps will soon be discharged and the club will be handed over to BDO who will liquidate it.

    That’s telling him ( VP ) , told him you wouldn’t be happy .

Thought you would go for detention but the old chopper confiscation might just do the trick . ( VP over to you ) :-)

  3. It’s all over the twittersphere about Commons.

At least he’ll not get injured.

Must be gutting for the bhoy though, seeing the players who are getting a game before him.

  4. Bizarre comment fro Laura Brannan At Celtic

@_LauraBrannan For leaving out Kris Commons? Of all Scotland’s midfielders, Commons is the player most in form. An incredible decision

  5. Levein and Scotland(SFA) deserve each other, my bold prediction is that Scotland will not qualify for a major tournament until the SFA is completely reformed and the Gravy Train sent to the Knackers Yard…

Starry who lost interest in Scotland and their team many many years ago…

  6. HT,

    Playtime snack?? aye heard it!

As for Sat and the quiz…..was my pleasure to turn up and make you night ;-)

Remember it clearly……the leaving bit is a tad more hazy though!

Gutted at 2nd place…..T4 has a lot to answer for!

Well done to the winners though. They obviously had someone who isnt still wired into Bill and Ted as their “spokesperson” in the tie-break……

  7. Steve fletcher welcomed back (SkyNews) but commons ignored again!!

Thank feck I don’t watch Scotland games.

  8. Craig Levein, Peter Houston, Craig Brown, McLeish, Walter Smith, all the Largs crowd, same old, same old, same old.

Berti Vogts may not have been the right appointment at the time, but going outside is definitely the right thing to do. Ditch the cardboard numpties.

  9. Levein only got the job to keep him quiet about the referees , otherwise that outburst could have and should have brought about a full scale reorganisation of the referee / officials system in Scotland .

Tonights game will be even harder for Celtic due to the plastic pitch the home team are well used to it but we are not. Also our European travels have been difficult we have foundit hard to pick up even a point let alone a win. While I would love a shock win for the Bhoys tonight I think it may be to soon for our young inexperienced team to make a serious mark in Europe.I still think we need a couple of more seasons in order to see a serious European challenge. H.H.

Glaswegian born and bred but I don’t give a fig for the fitba team called Scotland . I don’t give a damn who plays / who doesn’t play for them .

Well I do care about the Scotland team (like Laura Brannan) but I have to say my continuing dismay with Craig Levein continues.

Steven Fletcher is there to save his skin. No other reason. Levein has panicked because of his rank ability as a manager and gave the fans what they wanted regarding this player.

To leave out the best Scottish player in the SPL this season to date is at best baffling and at worst disgraceful.

I enjoyed watching Scotland at world cups and Euros but sadly I do not think this will happen again for a while at least.

2014 is gone already because of his obstinacy and idiocy. Euro 2016 is achievable but not with this manager and his uber negativity. Employing anti-football manager after anti-football manager has done this and Wales will get a result against Scotland in my view.

    Sad.

  13. Why the big turn around on Steven Flether? At last squad announcement Lev ein said the door was closed for Fletcher and there was no way back.

Is it dawning on him that he could be unemployed in a fortnight??

  14. Kayal33

Levein would have made that perfectly clear if that was the case. It would take the heat off him in the short term

I suppose its all incidental anyhow, as he won’t be Scotland boss by the end of the year

Parochialism: means being provincial, being narrow in scope, or considering only small sections of an issue. It may, particularly when used pejoratively, be contrasted to universalism.

If true, she should be bulleted from her job within the club pronto

    ……

    Why?

Is she not entitled to her own perfectly valid opinion which is neither offensive or racist?

  19. greenjedi

What does she think when a ‘foreign’ players scores for Celtic? Does it not count as we’re a Scottish club?

Imo it was a horrendous comment which bordered on racism

No way mate , just thought your wee comment about the quizmaster was funny and I knew hamiltontim would be on to respond .

  22. Ten Men

    You cannot be serious?

Club Football and International are two totally separate things?

Also while I disagree with her opinion, if asked I would play for Ireland over Scotland as I consider myself to be Irish, but there are many others who agree to play for Ireland, Scotland, Wales and plenty of other countries instead of the country of their birth just to advance their career.

  23. Dontbrattbakkinanger

    Newton Stewart is it?

Jings, a real flesh-pot for the unwary.

Just goes to show. I never had Newton Stewart down as Sin Market Town.

Just what are all those hanging baskets attempting to disguise?

  24. I just read interesting article on Russian media.

Craig Swan is an expert who gives answers on the questions regarding Celtic etc.

As I said, I read that long interview and can’t understand why Craig Swan when talks about Celtic he says – WE, …we were in poor financial conditions and have had to sell McGeady, we have young players who are not experienced in the CL games etc etc.

  25. Ten Men

Kris is in pre-match for a CL game. If she was tweeting banterous banter at our main mhen in the build-up to big games, then I would look askance.
