Duff & Phelps £4m shortfall

761

Following on from the SFA issuing an important announcement just as the Olympics opening ceremony was getting underway (Mr Regan, take a long hard look in the mirror), Duff and Phelps yesterday issued their final progress report to creditors of The Rangers Football Club PLC (in administration), recently renamed RFC 2012 PLC.

….On a Sunday, when the Ryder Cup was guaranteed top dominate sports reporting.  Anyone would think they didn’t want you to read it.

Take your time to read the report in detail here.  For those of us who follow football finances there is a treasure trove of information seldom revealed in this detail.

During the period in administration covered by the report, 14 February 2012 to 25 September 2012, the club incurred trading shortfall of £4,007,635.  Quite a remarkable figure.

The administrators received £2,457,420 remuneration on 10 August while the club paid £1,325,756 in legal fees as well as over £400k in legal and administration disbursements.

Buried (very) deep into the report is money paid to PR companies.  They paid Spreckley £28,941 for media consulting in relation to the administration.  They also paid Media House £141,441 for media consultancy in relation to the company.  Is this another remarkable figure?  Some creditors may be surprised but there is none here. Duff and Phelps will no doubt be prepared to explain to creditors the value they gained from this expenditure on their behalf at the forthcoming creditors’ meeting.

Duff and Phelps will soon be discharged and the club will be handed over to BDO who will liquidate it.

    Morning all

Sammi instead of Jamesy. Apart from that, same team as Saturday please.

    Sorted.

  2. Listening to TalkSport driving in to work this morning I thought I heard them say that Spartak have only won 1 of their last 10 home ties in the CL.

    Is that right?

I hope that those of you who can’t get out of work before 5 today have remembered to set up your V+ box or equivalent recording apparatus. I have.

They must mean at the Group stage.

In the 2010/11 CL group, Spartak lost at home to Chelsea and Marseille but beat Zilina (incidentally, they beat Zilina and Marseille away from home)

In qualifying for this year’s CL, they beat Fenerbache in Moscow.

In 2008/9 they got gubbed 4:1 by Kiev in the 3rd qualifying round at home. In 07/08, they were knocked out by us following a 1:1 draw in Moscow. In 06/07 they seemed to draw at home in qualifying and their home record in group stages were drew 2 and lost to Inter (again they did record an away win in Lisbon.)

So Talksport were nearly right and are correct about group stage at home it seems

With the tax bill now being confirmed as £94 (including penalties), the mind boggles as to just how much they paid out under EBT’s etc…..and this only includes the zombies …….. I think there is a real shock in store for the perpetrators of this scam………..BDO / HMRC have more legal ‘power’ than ‘they’ think …….there will be a lot of nervous people ‘around’ iPox at the moment…….and greengo better scamper quick…..if not, I think his ‘assets’ may be ‘visited by the baillifs’ …….JUSTICE AND TRUTH WILL ALWAYS PREVAIL…..!!

I might have known your answer would be so indepth and detailed, many thanks ;-)

Quite a surprising statistic considering that they play on that surface every week, I expected them to have a much higher win ratio.

I have a good feeling about tonight.

I was very nervous before the Benfica game because we were missing some important players. Tonight, we should just about have our strongest starting eleven available….assuming Matthews is fit.

Considering the fact that Spartak are missing some key players, I’m quietly confident about the game.

When I see a stat like that (one win in ten) I am torn between feeling more confident and worrying that their poor run must come to an end because it is a statistical anomaly.

I’ll start to feel more confident just before kick off and even more confident if we negotiate the first 10 minutes without loss. A 3:0 first half lead might settle my nerves entirely.

I think that the Benfica game was a bore but

    Neil’s tactics were spot-on imo.

What folk fail to realise is….we’re a pot 4 team.

    No more – No less.

The Benfica tactics will have to be repeated when

we’re on the road or, our away day misery will continue

  16. Surely hmrc are obliged to and will act purely on recovery of the circa £100m and ignore the fabric of Scottish society rubbish?

They are I believe going to set a precedent here which many financially screwed English teams will react to. If hmrc let the manky mob off the hook easily and without much consequence to any zombie company or club they can look forward to getting screwed over similarly many times over ????

  17. Tonight Celtic will be playing at Spartak’s Luzhniki stadium – capacity 78,360, average attendance 18,816.

I am going to miss the game today because of work but I hope for the best.

I’m never confident of away games but I always live in hope.

We’ve had good games away where we’ve deserved something and got nothing and games we’ve just been poor.

If we were poor today and got a draw I’d be delighted and overjoyed.

You’d think so – consensus seems to be that BDO will not be reversing the asset sale or applying certain laws on newco startups and so on – shouldn’t they be worried about the precedent this sets, particularly amonst other clubs with large debts and dodgy owners(Hearts spring to mind)? Or… maybe they know more than us about what the fate that lies in store for the newco…

  23. The corpulent presstitute ,Jabba, would know all about ‘image rights’ : I wonder how much he got for his in ‘Star Wars’?

A more apt cheerleader for the huns you could not find : an ugly, overeating, lying sleekit and arrogant fud…..truly representative of the hun in all his comically pompous glory, like those eejits marching about in top hats, bowlers and brogues. Ridiculous and stupid.

Aye, Jabba, what an image you represent.

  24. Tonight I’m gonna go for a 4-5-1 adapting to 4-3-3 when we break.

    Forster

    Matthews(Lustig) Ambrose Mulgrew Izzaguirre

    Commons Brown Wanyama Ledley Samaras

    Hooper

If Aiden is operating down their left flank I’ll be expecting Brown to assist Commons/Lustig in defence, on the opposite flank I’d expect the same of Ledley. Aiden has the potential to give Izzey or Lustig a torrid time. This is too big a game in a difficult away venue for Forrest, who has been struggling for form lately, so I’d leave him on the bench as an impact player for the last 20/30 minutes.

Both Miku and Lassad have looked decent when coming on the past few games, of the two I’d say Miku has the advantage, so he’s on the bench or a possible starter if Sammy isn’t deemed fully fit. Beram’s a great player to have on the bench should there be any problems with the midfield 3, but I don’t see any reason other than injury to change.

This is a difficult game and anything we get from it is a bonus. Keep it tight for the first 20 minutes and press Spartak in midfield, give them no space to move or find a pass, break up the play. Hooper has to be busy, coming deep when required but also ready to break, if he’s on his game he will definitely hurt them.
