  1. First ever post. Been lurking for 8,9 years. This site keeps me sane! It is absolutely magic. Come from Barra, live in Glasgow, but work on a ship [6 weeks on, six off] Biggest reason I’ve never posted before is slow internet connection, and I’m quicker at reading than typing! In Batam, Indonesia right now, but have lurked from all over South East Asia in last 8 years. Keep up the good work. This site is appreciated by a lot more remote Tims than you might think. It makes me feel like I know all you guys personally! Last game I was at was 2-1 Fir Park, and I’ll be home for the Killy game on Christmas Eve [Hopefully] Keep the updates coming, and thanks a million all you guys who keep updating the action from the games.

  2. Victor playing a blinder ~ strength, skill and passing ability. He is a switched on Bhoy. Forrest unlucky not to finish off a flowing, cutting move. Let’s put thos one to bed.

  3. Remember hearing a question asked in sports quizs over here.

Went something like “who is the only footballer to hold an all ireland medal a world cup medal and – can’t remember the other.”

Anyways the answer was “Socrates” . Apparently he won an all ireland medal when working / studying at UCD. Know the answer – just not sure of the question.:)

    Anyone know the third medal?

  5. Victor MOM so far; like to see us killing it off quickly but that wouldn’t be us, would it?

Fouls in the box now aren’t penalties and faints are; I need to keep up.

    RIP Socrates

did that not turn out to be a myth about the college thing?

remember reading that – Irish Folklore

  7. Enjoying the game today, but as always, feeling like we need a second.

Watching C67 with a little trip down memory lane. Set me thinking about my ownjourney following the Celts.

Dawned on me that my first ever Celtic game was 25 years ago yesterday – a 1-0 defeat away at Hearts.

I just looked it up on the excellent Celtic wiki, and could not help but remark that there was 25,000at at a cold Tynecastle in early December.

  8. SFA to review Sone Aluko “penalty” award in Rangers win

    By Jonathan Sutherland

    BBC Scotland

Rangers were awarded a penalty after this challenge on Aluko

The Scottish FA are likely to review an incident that let to a penalty for Rangers in their 2-1 win over Dunfermline, BBC Scotland has learned.

Pars manager Jim McIntyre claimed Rangers’ Sone Aluko dived to with the spot-kick, converted by Nikica Jelavic.

Alleged simulation “cheating” can be processed using the SFA’s fast-track procedures and compliance officer Vincent Lunny is expected to review the incident.

A decision would be made on Monday at the earliest.

The penalty was awarded by referee …..Steve Conroy when Rangers were already a goal up, with Martin Hardie the player penalised.

However after Jelavic netted, Joe Cardle pulled one back for the Dunfermline to set up a tense second half

Socrates never studied in Dublin– sheer Urban myth.

Sorry that was meant to be half time diversion lol

  10. Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre described the award of a penalty against his side in the 2-1 defeat by Rangers as “****a disgrace of a decision****”.

Sone Aluko was adjudged to have been fouled by Gary Mason and Nikica Jelavic converted what proved to be the winner.

“It’s never a penalty in a month of Sundays,” said McIntyre.

“The referee’s in a great position. It’s just not a penalty. There’s no contact at all. There’s three players round him and it’s a dive.”

Referee Steve Conroy pointed to the spot when Rangers were already a goal up through Alex Keddie’s own goal, the ball rebounding into the net off the defender’s head following goalkeeper Paul Gallacher’s clearance.

What we’ve got to do is make sure we’re not gifting goals

    Jim McIntyre

    Dunfermline manager

“He (Aluko) is obviously trying to get his team into a lead,” said McIntyre.

“I’m not going to blame Aluko, the bottom line is the referee’s there to spot these things and he’s got to do his job and he didn’t did it today.

“That (the own goal) was a poor one from our point of view, I don’t know that there was a lot of distance between Gallacher and Keddie for Paul Gallacher to get the ball up, I would need to see that again.

“It smacked off him, went into the corner and it was a horrible way to lose the first goal.”

Joe Cardle pulled a goal back for Dunfermline and Keddie missed a late headed chance to level.

“In the first 20 minutes, it was all Rangers and we were sitting far too deep,” said McIntyre.

“The boys grew in belief as the game went on and obviously when you score a goal then that helps.

“Keddie’s got to score. It’s a great ball in, he’s free and he’s got to score.

“They’re chances that, when you come to places like this, you must bury because you don’t get many so you need to make sure you hit the target when you do.”

Dunfermline slip to second-bottom in the Scottish Premier League, a point above Aberdeen.

“We’re well in about it,” added McIntyre. “What we’ve got to do is make sure we’re not gifting goals.”

  11. What is the Stars on

    Lurgan

I beleive the Socrates/Dublin story was urban myth.

There were stories that he had trials for Shelbourne (dublin league of ireland club) and was told he wasnt good enough

But I dont beleive any stories were true

  12. Agreed on the crap corners.

Probably Matthews is taking them cos we don’t have a player with a left foot on the park.

  13. Want this game put to bed…. We have a bad habit of pounding them fir 90 mins then the hills have eyes Kenneth pops up with a undeserved equaliser

  14. Right chaps. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

In my defence I never said it was true – only that the question was asked. :)
