EURO SMASH-HIT NESBITT

WONDER Bhoy Aiden Nesbitt is already a smash-hit in Europe – before he even starts a first team game for Celtic.
A goal from the 18-year-old striker, who played the last few minutes in the 2-0 League Cuo success over Raith Rovers in September, has been selected by UEFA’s website as one of the best of the season.
Nesbitt’s spectacular effort against against HJK Helsinki in the UEFA Youth League has been voted in the campaign’s top ten strikes.
The lively teenager claimed a hat-trick against the Finnish side in a 5-0 away victory, but it was his first goal which impressed the UEFA panel.

It came in the 35th minute when Nesbitt controlled a high ball with his right foot 25 yards out and knocked it over an opponent with one touch before firing home a stunning volley from outside the box.

He told the Celtic View: “I’ve never scored a goal like that, so it was pleasing to see the move come off. I didn’t look at the goal and just totally focused on the ball.

“Mark Hill took a touch and I put it in the air and as soon as I did that I knew what I wanted to do. After that it just happened.

“I felt I had a wee bit of space to that side and I thought with my back to goal the keeper wouldn’t expect me to strike it and it turned out exactly how I wanted.

“This time last season I wouldn’t have taken it on. I’d have tried to bring it down and pass it, but I feel like I’m getting better at certain aspects of my game and I just need to keep improving them.

“I’m really chuffed. That was my second hat-trick for Celtic and they were decent goals. Even the third one was a chip over the keeper, so I was buzzing.”

The Hoops return to UEFA Youth League action next month when they take on Valencia, in a one-off home tie which could lead to progress to the next round.
