Evidence mounts as Celtic look set to further improve

930

I’d a look at the fixture list preseason and didn’t expect we’d be top of the table so early, having played only three games with 10 teams having played four, and two of those games coming against our nearest challengers from last season.

But we stepped up to the task. The earlier win at Tynecastle and beating Aberdeen 4-1 on Saturday has issued a warning to all. Bookmakers are offering Celtic’s title odds of between 2/9 and 1/7, and have created a separate ‘Betting without Celtic’ competition. One of Brendan’s jobs will be to remind players that they need to earn the points every time the whistle goes. Defeats come quickly to teams operating at 95%.

Not that we had it all our own way on Saturday. Aberdeen disrupted our rhythm and passing in the middle part of the game. You can see how Brendan has changed the way we use the ball in possession, but there’s still a bit of work to do for it to become more natural looking.

The goals were outstanding. Leigh Griffiths’ effort would be immortalised in song, if one of the Barcelona players due to visit Celtic Park soon had managed it. Tom Rogic’s technique is of particular importance.

Celtic face a lot of packed defences; having someone able to reliably hit an unstoppable shot from around 22 yards changes how a defence will shape up to play us. This is a player Leeds United thought they could buy for £1m recently.

I was pleased to see Dorus de Vries make his debut. He had little to do, and could do nothing about the Aberdeen goal, but if he’s to be relied upon in any of the important games ahead he needed an outing as a Celtic player.

It was equally important Erik Sviatchenko came through 90 minutes with Kolo Toure. The defence is set for some almighty challenges ahead, and will need to face them with little common game-time to allow partnerships to be cemented.

There’s a degree of trepidation for the Champions League task ahead, but pretenders to our domestic dominance beware: evidence mounts that this is a good Celtic team – one which will continue to improve for some time to come.

They care not for their football team, if they did they wouldn’t have died, it’s as simple as that.

They only care about keeping Timmy in his place and fleecing the hoards and for them both these things are giving them bother, Timmy slowly but surely through hard work and education has risen to places that were always the domain of the hun and they are being found out to be the charlatans that they are.

But their biggest problem is the money is drying up, to keep themselfs in clover, not a Fourleaf one mind you, their football team needs to be at least half decent, that is a bother, even the sfa are finding it harder and harder to carry on with the farce, the referees are still on the same page, but it is getting harder for them as well if they want to be taken seriously outwith scotland.

Our suits are money men, end of, so they will never call them out, I have never expected them to, but for all their faults they are a world away from the huns suits imo.

Me am happy to live in a hun free mountain valley in ma cave, it’s a world away from scotland and for all I miss the football, I don’t miss the pish, the hatred and the bile, it’s the main reason I left in the first place.

  2. Wits – perhaps. Maybe they are lonely? Maybe the years of bad living if the life of journos and academics (hmmm) is anything like it’s supposed to be. Maybe just more and more desperation as they are proved wrong on nearly every major historical event??

    Who knows. Not I

I wasn’t at the 2-4 Ibrox 10 men won the league game. It’s just a great Celtic supporting memory for me watching my dad celebrating it drunk. Brilliant.

Lying on couch fast asleep one minute then next bursting into song 10 men won the league tea lala la la.

  6. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gordybhoy, a lot of factors involved , likely, in what used to be playing field/ football pitches.

The growth in places with astroturf 5’s and 7’s pitches is possibly one of the reasons .

  7. As some posters are having difficulty with facts tonight can I point out one.

James Traynor bought shares in Celtic when they were in the “grubber”.

    No implication from me here.

    Good long term investment btw:-)

  8. What is it with people who say tehy ahve ‘dynamite’ information but they cant say what it is. Like alex Cameron and Chick Youn with an envelo[pe in desk with next big Hun signing.. Either tell everyone or don’t mention it at all! NosecretsCFC

    Only one for now:

1985 Scottish cup final. My first time at Hampden. Lifted over the turnstiles. Thrown 6 foot in the air when frank mcgarvey scored. Returned home walking on cloud nine.

It seems like a different planet. A different me. A different era. It’s 31 years ago!! How did that happen?

  11. I don’t want McCarthy but an experienced midfielder from Europe. Not England. too expensive. I also want a young hungry goalscorer. Can I also get rid of Boyata,, he scares me more than Efe

I do not normally post much so you won’t see me often, I lurk most days today I saw an injustice and felt compelled to tell my fellow fans that Kill ultra was not the earlier named level 5 guy. Again I know nothing of note other than what’s posted on here so not guilty on that. If I was a troll don’t you think I would be posting all the time, like all the guys on here I’m excited by Brendan’s team. hH

  18. PapaJoe55, you and Kill Ultra seem to arrive together, go figure!

You say you lurk but don’t post, you may post every day, you just need another email to get another log in, nothing difficult in that.

If I chose in 5 minutes I could post as any nom de blog I chose.

So no, that doesn’t wash really.

Let me see the substance of your posts rather than plea to my better nature, I don’t have one.

You want to be taken seriously as a Tim, post as one on other matters, on a match day, during a game, as you say you are at home, so log in.

Thunder Road…yes, I finally got there…but like old mother hubbard’s cupboard, it was bare…until TOHG turned up…he then introduced me to Paul67’s dad Martin, who then introduced me to Hamilton Tim and the Minx…I wasn’t there long, I had to meet up with my cousin…but at least I now know where it is…

  23. Weebobbycollins

Glad you managed to get it pinpointed and getting to meet that trio is a damn fine start.

  24. Doc

Fair comment on match days I usually watch game at home and speak to my son and daughter and close friends and usually log on later in evening to get reaction. But I’m quite happy to know the people in my life know I’m a good Tim ,a few bloggers on an Internet site think I’m not doesn’t really matter. My ME is in a better place at the moment and I am seriously considering a season book don’t want to go to the Huns games because of their bile. If I do get season book I will definitely show face at the coarner and put faces to names. So hopefully we will meet and then we will have the craic . HH

  25. Doc

  27. TET @ 11:05 PM,

We can only hope for change, but for what I see of 21st Century Scotland the hardcore aren’t going anywhere fast.

But you are right, their power and influence is diminishing.

    PAPAJOE55 @ 11:23 PM,

You say you know Kill Ultra very well.

Therefore you know he came on this site to accuse and discredit the Res12 ghuys.

His stated reason… they sold out and he was very upset by this.

He is very protective of his anonimity, when he started posting how did you know who he was?

Why can neither of you find any mutual acquaintances to known CQNers? Gordon64 for instance.

Rather than all these vague references to games, the stadium, things posted on the Net. Just ask Gordon64 to vouch for you, he’s been posting a long time.

You state you were upset by the allegations made against you and Kill Ultra earlier on today on CQN. If you are genuine you can make yourself and your connection with KU known… it’s that simple.

  28. Thunder Road, sorry, spoke to many on Saturday.

Broken leg a few months ago, mended, but unstable knee, ACL snapped, so surgery.

Surgery done, knee infected, IV antibiotics and 2 more surgeries in the last couple of weeks.

Big hitting antibiotics, she is being well looked after.

    Tough time for her.

    Playing football for the Uni.

  29. PappaJoe55, my point is join in, or don’t.

Poster who pick controversial subjects are suspect.

Frankly you will be for some time.

You still haven’t explained your relationship with Kill Ultra.

Which Supporters bus did you go on, which club?

    Easy questions.

Bannockburn Bus for me, founder member, but only been back for the last 5 years .

But I will catch responses later.

On a personal note, thanks for the good wishes.

  30. Doc

    Ach……sorry to hear that.

Hopefully they can get the infection under control asap and she can get on with her recovery.
