EX-CELT RELEASED…BY EX-CELT

1

FORMER Celtic boss Ronny Deila has released his ex-Hoops player Gary Mackay-Steven.

The Norwegian, now in charge of New York City, has opted not to renew the Scotlland international winger’s contract at the MLS outfit.

Thirty-year-old Mackay-Steven, who was signed by Deila in a £2million double deal along with Stuart Armstrong from Dundee United on the January 2015 deadline day, is now free to talk to interested clubs.

The tricky touchline ace, who started his career at Liverpool before signing for Ross County, has already been linked with another of his former clubs, Aberdeen, who snapped him up from Parkhead in 2017.

Pittodrie gaffer Derek McInnes has confirmed he would be open to the idea of re-signing the player who left the north-east outfit for New York in June last year.

Initial talks have already taken place with the player’s representatives, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
