Ex-ref taunts Neil Lennon with ‘explodes’ remark

1244

I think I live in a different world than some people.  In my world the manager of Celtic has endured an incredibly stressful month.  Yesterday he would have dealt with news from a serious criminal trial after a bomb was sent to him.

Today he is being taunted in a newspaper by a former referee who suggests he “explodes at the side of a park”.  Even for a former SFA official, this is astonishingly poor taste.  The article goes on to betray enormous hostility towards Neil Lennon and, for reasons which appear opportunistic, Peter Lawwell.

Our manager will get through these difficult weeks and will hopefully never have to endure such stresses again.  SFA officials, current or past, cannot meaningfully lay a glove on him.  He can pay their fines and will continue to manage a winning Celtic team.

  1. 8.1.4

    SPL Requirement

Clubs shall have no overdue payables towards football clubs arising from transfer activities as at 31 March 2011 that refer to transfer activities that occurred prior to 31 December 2010.

It may be acceptable for the payments to be outstanding passed this 31 March date outwith the terms mentioned above but only where the outstanding amount is subject to a not obviously unfounded dispute submitted to a competent authority, or where the club could not establish any link or contact between the player and any concerned club or national association (see Annex VIII of the UEFA Regulations)..

To meet this requirement the club shall prepare a Transfer Payables Table which shall be reviewed by an auditor. The requirements for the content of the Table and the auditor review are detailed in Schedule A 49 and Template Letter A 49.

    RogueLeader – Yup.

    Not very subtle, is he?

I read his little anti-“Lennon” diatribe today, interesting that he refers to him as “Lennon” eleven times.

    Again, not very subtle.

It’s going to absolutely scunner these people when “Lennon” wins the league. (thumbsup)

  5. The Honest Mistake loves being first on

As the jury decide their verdicts, they should be handed a copy of today’s Sun. That way the farce that is justice in Scotland can continue.

The article was timed to hit the papers on the day that the jury deliberate.

    Shocking.

  6. Kit,

Sorry if this is naive, but how do you challenge the SFA on this when it is so obvious that the rules are not being applied? Should Celtic not be making their feelings known?

Is there a get out clause?

  7. Kit – I have if you’re after one?

Paul has my email address if he doesn’t mind putting us in touch. Don’t want to put it on here as it’s a work one! ;-)

  8. Eyes Wide Open

Neil Lennon made 733 appearances during his playing career. He was booked on 80 occasions and sent off 5 times. He was booked or sent off an average of 1 every 9 games.

Let’s see some other combative midfielders. We’ll start with Captain Unbookable. Ferguson made 580 appearances so far during his playing career. He has been booked on 99 occasions and sent off 7 times. He was booked or sent off an average of 1 every 5.6 games.

    Hmmm

My lasting memory of Clarke was at a game at Tynecastle when the big knuckle dragger they signed from D Utd when he said he wd sign for us his name escapes me just now.

Anyway the big K D was standing on Chirs Suttons hand and Chris gave him a shove and Clarke booked Chris. Unbelievable!!

  11. BT, he is doing very well at the minute.

We flew him to London this week to see the top Neuroblastoma doc in the UK (allegedly!). He wants to take him off his current treatment programme in Belfast and use a different treatment in London which he firmly believes will give him the best chance of long term survival (feels weird actually writing that but thats the reality).

It looks like we’ll be going ahead with it and spending most if not all of May in London. Bit of an upheaval for the family but its gotta be done.

Got a wee look around Niamh Currys room (they had just left so didnt get a chance to meet unfortunately) to get a feel for the place. Really impressed!

  13. Location-Hampden League Cup Final…

Dundee Utd leading 1-0 against the inbreds. With 10 mins to go Utd forward runs through on the huns goal with only the keeper to beat.Cuellar pulls him back denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity, as last man.

PENALTY to utd, with the chance to win the cup also red card to cuellar as last man.Nothing else can be given as EVERYONE in Hampden has seen it.

    But…

The Utd chairman watching from the stand, seriously ill at the time with terminal cancer, can’t believe his eyes as the ref waves play on.The ref had a clear view of the incident but CHOSE not to apply the laws of the game, which he is paid nearly a four figure sum to do.

In the closing minutes due to a defensive blunder by Utd the huns somehow manage to take the game to extra time and then penalties were they scrape the undeserved win.

If only the ref had done the job he was handsomely paid to do, the result would have been different. The ref knows that not awarding the penalty has changed history.

The ref that day…..I think we all know who it was!!

  14. Aulheid,

My thinking and correct me if I am wrong, if the SFA grant a domestic license to RFC(IA) and they at some point fail (SCHEME/DEFRAUD) to meet their financial obligations to the cost of another member club, then that wronged club has a free kick in the SFA goolies. (all gentlemanly in a court of law of course)

Am I right or am I wrong?

Who is carrying what risk? The SFA best be careful ‘cos it is not like they can claim they were not warned.

    Kit

I was referring to SFA rules not SPL but the underlying point is the same. The rules are to stop fellow clubs getting stiffed. This should mean fellow clubs being very wary of continuing to play a club who are in effect robbing them.

Sooner or later Rangers will have to produce evidence that their opponents will not get stiffed. That is going to be difficult as matters stand.

  17. Looking for a pub in London where I can take my kids to watch the title party against Killie next week, any ideas?

  18. Just had a bare telling me they will stop our party by winning tomorrow.

Told him I will be partying anyway as not been at Celtic Park in a month and the place will be rocking.

Also told him that in that month rangers debt has just grown and grown and still no sign of anyone putting a concrete bid in for rangers.

My greatest delight was telling fim that the Fighting Fund and tonight don’t even cover Duff&Duffers fees, never mind rescue rangers. It was just a PR excercise to stop them throwing themselves under buses.

I was chatting to Blantyretim on Messenger about the game on Sunday and asked if he was going,I told him I had tried to get a ticket for my nephew but to no avail, and I said that I had given him my ticket as I wasn’t that well when I made that decision.I’m feeling fine now and said to BT that I wish I could go now that I’m feeling better,He,unknown to me, posted on CQN,about me requiring a ticket, you can imagine my surprise when he came back and mentioned that he managed to get the same seat I was sitting in a couple of weeks earlier.

Johannes I ‘m glad that it was you who came up with the seat as I would have liked to have shook your hand for the last time,Now it will be a double shake of the hand,It will be a pleasure to meet you.Thank you so much, and a big thank you to the others who offered,I’m in your debt.

Kayal33 – Children hate pubs, on account of the fact that they rarely get served. You should take them to Hamleys.

Also, the London Eye is quite fun – but get a VIP ticket to beat the queues, then I recommend you head across the river for lunch in the Savoy (it’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the Eye but will boost your appetite).

    Job done. (thumbsup)

The late Paul McBride (QC) pointed out to the SFA that they could not extend Neil Lennon’s ban because the rules clearly statedthat the second ban must start within ten days of the hearing (or, without checking back, words to that effect) In a nutshell, the SFA did not have a clue what their own rules meant.

    Let me repeat that,

The SFA did not know their own rules. The SFA do not have an AUDITOR. The SFA do not have an AUDITOR. Can you believe that; when millions and millions of pounds are up for grabs… THE SFA DO NOT HAVE AN AUDITOR.

Paul McBride made them look silly and Neil Lennon served his sentences concurrently much to the annoyance of the Hun SFA.

How do we challenge it, we don’t… Celtic PLC do, if they have a mind to.
