You’ll remember the days of the season ticket waiting list. Then came the imaginary waiting list, which existed a while after seats were openly available. Now anyone can browse onto the Celtic web site and view exactly how many seats are available, and where, inside Celtic Park. It tells a fascinating story.
There’s the odd solitary seat and a few hundred with restricted views but that aside only the previously-closed part of the Lisbon Lions upper is not subscribed – and a significant number of tickets there will not include games against Newco, who are likely to ask for their entire entitlement according to league rules.
We’ve not seen anything like this since 1995 when Celtic Park reopened. Season 1994-95, at 34,000 capacity Hampden, was far from inspiring. We didn’t even sell-out a late-season game against Oldco, but Fergus had mortgaged our future on a partly-built 40,000 seater stadium, with projects underway to finish the job.
I looked at the empty seats at Hampden that day in 1995 and wondered if Fergus had blown his money. It didn’t look possible that we’d come anywhere close to filling a much larger stadium. As last season came to an end today’s ticket bonanza looked equally unlikely (although I did expect a pick-up).
Sometimes it doesn’t pay to examine sentiment too closely, just be grateful when you have it and know that it can change quickly when it’s against you.
Noting the increase in match day traffic around Celtic Park, you have to wonder how many millions of man hours will be wasted sitting in immobile cars and buses because Police Scotland no longer man traffic lights to allow spectators to leave the area quickly after events.
That’s another cost of our Offensive Behaviour’ Bill. Ponder that when you’ve moved 1 mile in an hour next season. Event-related gridlocks are another manifestation of ineffective governance. For decades police had budget to control traffic junctions at major events, not any more, in Scotland, anyway.

I appreciate your point, but they are hardly likely to demand a National Living Wage of treble the NMW,are they?
It is a premium on top of the latter, but usually around 25% or so. It would lose all credibility were it otherwise.
If we assume the problem is in the temporary match-day sector of our employees,we are talking maybe 200 people for say six hours,25 times a year.
Give them a £2 an hour increase. Do the maths involved.
I make it £60,000. Hardly a deal-breaker,is it?

It’s £60k pa,ffs. It doesn’t matter whether our income is skewed toward certain parts of the year.
We are talking 0.1% of our income to make a statement which the fans could feel proud of.
And btw,if I recall correctly,Bankier called it as £500k pa.
He should be sacked for that. Canny tell lies at an AGM,not when yer Company Chairman.

The first time I was in the new stadium was when we played Barcelona in a friendly.
I took my boss along,he was a Bolton fan,so ideal for him to see his hero Stubbs. And he was paying for dinner,so it kinda balanced out.
In my favour…
The first thing he said after watching a game in the best unfinished stadium in Europe was
“Will you fill this when its finished?”
I just looked at him as though he was daft!
Gave him a brief history of crowds from the past, fans from the past, pointed out there’s plenty more where they came from.
Couldnae get a season ticket when it was finished!
Celtic fans will always be happy to fill the stadium. It’s not us who empty it.
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on 8TH JUNE 2016 12:39 PM
Er I agreed we should pay, and keep up with it on an annually reviewed basis. I think that’s more important than the badge.
Paul67. This past season the traffic lights at the NW corner next to the creamery have been manned several times.
Just read the article explaining about the Guardian.
While thing is sickening….and shows what we are against (and have always been up against imo)

Pay people a decent wage.If society can afford billionaires it can afford to pay people a truly fair rate.
Maybe have to introduce a new post match Gazebo to accommodate the new massive crowds.

Cool,mate. I apologise for that.
Just rips my knitting that Bankier has never been called on his £500k assertion.

Paul 67 Et Al,
Apart from wasted man hours sitting in immobile cars and busses because Police Scotland no longer have the budget to control traffic manually. What about the cost to the environment?
The Green rhetoric of our ruling Scottish Government does not match its deeds. That is indeed offensive behaviour to me.
It’s enough to make you leave the car and have a drink. Oh I forgot you can be apprended for anything deemed offensive by a plod who has got out of bed the wrong way. Even miles and miles from the ground.
Again that is if we can afford a drink with the Scottish government ‘s obsession to increase prices per alcohol unit. A policy that again will hit the poorest the hardest.
Hail, Hail.
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on 8TH JUNE 2016 12:57 PM
The only way I can see that figure being remotely plausible (and I sincerely doubt it is) is if they were to apply living wage to all staff including agency staff and that figure represented the projected rise in agency fees,
As I say, I doubt even then it would come to that.

I would give the wine a whirl won’t do you any harm,
I’m supposing heat/storage/bottling fault or Sadowitz were to blame
Getting out of the bus park – at the back of the Celtic End – after Motherwell was one of the worst ever. We ended up driving underneath the North Stand after sitting not moving for over an hour. There seems to be traffic management at bizarre times and other games it’s non existent.
Then on top of that you have the problem that the bus park is over subcribed with the passess that have been issued and that buses seem to get in without passess and others on an ad hoc basis.
Celtic Park is the only stadium in Scotland were supporters buses are not convoyed out.

Great read.. The gloves at off. Some under hand stuff going on in the media.
Why do the board kickers not pick up these stories an vent their frustrations at our real enemies rather than our custodians. Crazy. Res12 is a massive story but surely the media silence on it is far more insidious and far reaching?

Are you ever likely to provide commentary/opinion on the current inclination of the board to back up the requisitioner’s and Res12 or are we going to read more of planes trains and automobiles?
With respect to Paul67 I think that the alternative CQN ‘magazine’ article just posted was maybe more deserving of appearing on a ‘comments’ page? Hope the linky things works…

I assumed that permanent staff were already on or near TLW. As such,I discounted them from my calculations.
You used to work there, are you seriously telling me that we pay permanent staff NMW ?
Well, bugger me backwards, that’s another scandal in itself I thought it was disgraceful that we didn’t pay a LIVING WAGE to temporary staff.
But to find that permanent staff are on similar makes me feel sick, seriously.
And as you worked there,I’ll take your word for it.
On the money Jobo. Answers the res questions of the fans just now. Match days are a wee bit away yet.

More evidence if any more was needed that the press is not free but heavily conflicted with vested interests, dictating what is published and available to the public, it is news management , and the publishers propagandists who should but wont be ashamed of their conduct. RIP the press

I’ll hold at least one back for you. Promise.
Though chances are you’ll go-Yes,tried that,it had great write ups but was oddly unsatisfactory
So I’ll get you pissed first!
Jeeze – just read that – WTF is going on in the Free Press (!) in this country?
Can it be Freemasonry at work – surely not in such an obvious way – do SFA / RFC have that level if influence outwith Scotland?
This utterly bizarre…who is behind this – do the Requisitioners know?

Agree Jobo
MWD – the news is that there’s no news about the Club making a statement. Like you I agree that at some point that news should feature on a site called Celtic Quick News! That point is now…..

As per the article; Guardian readers should indeed be asking questions and considered their options.

Celtic FC board can get advice at the link http://www.cahonasscotland.com/
For the rest of us its good public health advice
The Guardian is not the ethical paper that it used to be. Taken over by the forces of darkness.
Dissallusioned readers have set up the “Off-Guardian” website.
Might be worth contacting them about the res12 advert. They could be interested and might be able to shed some light as to the motives of the paper.
Put it in Celtic View,, see if they accept it…………….
The Guardian refusal is disappointing and i would like to know why
However even if they did take the article it doesn’t move on Res12
It would be in all the papers if PL went into next meeting and demanded LMS is overturned due to multiple faults and withheld evidence . Demanded a 4 year old club has its proper history in SFA publications Also that all unpaid fines are paid.
Celtic FC don’t want to do anything for justice or truth.
