Exploiting a vulnerable man, the drive to Bristol Airport, WW in the UK

611

There is a degree of public interest in reading about, or listening to, spivs exploit the stupidity of some football fans to bring a club to its knees, but the sight of a tired and emotional looking Malcolm Murray stumbling away from an event is neither entertaining nor of interest to anyone with a sense of humanity.

Have you ever seen a drunk football player or official?  I have.  It has never been news before nor should it be now.  If the man has an actual problem the first response from his club and the wider game must be to offer support for one of our national illnesses.

The fan with a phone camera probably knows no better, but passing-round a recording of when a Frankie Howerd impersonator confronted Murray about his alleged problem is truly awful.

The audio was almost certainly not uploaded onto the internet by ‘Howerd’ but it was his decision to make and distribute the recording.  I hope he informed Murray the call was being recorded.

10 years ago today five of us filled a car and drove to Bristol Airport, the nearest available departure point for Scot’s leaving for the Spain; more-local airports were booked out within minutes of the event ahead being confirmed.  Bristol is a small airport but the place was full of other Celtic fans who had travelled south for the same purpose.  Every departure point in the land was filled by green and white.

A remarkable exodus was underway, it was a privilege to be part of it.

Great news, Willie Wallace has made the long trip from Aus and is now in the UK.  Looking forward to catching up with him next week.

I see contributing to Willie’s autobiography has had a dramatic effect on Rod Stewart’s career!  He’s just reached No. 1 in the album chart for the first time in decades.  Hail, hail, Rod.

You can pre-order the autobiography in Willie’s own words, with Rod’s contribution, Brogan Rogan’s best writing yet, and Archie MacPherson’s fantastic scene setting (“the best team I’ve ever seen”) with the link below.  Willie will be signing all copies ordered now just as soon as the presses roll.

Nostalgia overload.  Need to hold it together for tomorrow.

GL2 – just off the phone to sis, serves you right for not including solids! You’re all too old for that carry on! :-)

TT – in previous years, what did you really get for your money paying about three times the normal season card price? Do you entertain clients at CP?

You might be better off with a normal season card and then pick a few games to do hospitality with clients?

Are you a business class or Investor season ticket holder?

TinyTim, I am a business class ST holder. I have had a number of meetings with Celtic management over the last few years to discuss what value we get. Unfortunately they regard us as “cash cows”. Those numbers have of course has diminished dramatically over the last few years.

Fans won’t bother because they can’t be bothered writing emails and letters.

I remember someone on here last year posted a template email and letter and others just forwarded it on to their club to say no to newco.

I’m actually shocked sitting here with our governing body allowing a club to investigate themselves, it’s absolute laughable and mental.

Only in Scotland would this be taken seriously, not 1 journo has asked why they are investigating themselves.

My dads cousin has 4 tickets for the kerrydale suite and has refused to renew for next season due to being forced to move..

Im not sure people are happy at being forced to move to north stand. Not sure how much more expensive these seats are.

He also had a car parking space at the entrance to the suite at a cost..

    Back after Hillsborough programme

I am considering not renewing for the business class.

I do like the vantage point of my seat ,but it is a very expensive free pie n bovril.

If i am being honest with myself .There is no business return for me personally having these tickets.

There are hundreds of fans who have not renewed over the last couple of seasons and moved to other parts of the stadium.

Celtic need to wake up to this.

Hampden is out of bounds next year due to the commonwealth games. Therefore the Govan Dodgers FC would be unable to play there even if Campbell would have signed the ‘no need to pay us anything brother Walter’ lease personally..

  13. 10 years ago today, and its a wee trip from Islantilla to Seville (58 miles), to find our bearings and parking for 21st.

Place already bouncing with Hoops, Welcome party in the park, to see the Big Cup Winner, King Billy “McNeil” followed by Shebeens.

On walking into the park, I bump into half of my parish, walk another 50 yards and its the Cowie rebels, with my brother in law, all the way from Toronto.

    Busy day now tomorrow

Incidentally I have already come across the big kilt wearing red heated Mohican, mentioned earlier, and seen the huge Grampian Emerald Flying Squad banner, hanging from the top to half way down a hotel

    Happy days

I love when i hear of fans returning to being season ticket holders.

I believe that Celtic have done great by the fans in general with the season ticket reductions for next season.

I also believe that ALL fans should have affordable access to the type of facilities that i currently enjoy.

Celtic would make more money also.

As i say ,i just feel that my personal season ticket ,is poor value for money when compared to others.

It is my choice to pay for it ,but i want to communicate my views with Celtic ,and not just chuck it.

You think this enquiry will be straight forward mate ?

It doesn’t make sense a club asking a firm to investigate them.

Genuine football supporters of all clubs have a moral duty to fight this blatant cheating for the benefit of one club.

It’s alright people saying that they will be financially weaker blah blah blah , I’m not interested in their bank balance , I want the rules applied to them and their reincarnation the same way they would be applied to any other club. This masonic cover up has gone on long enough , where’s the fraud squad when you need them ?

I have always been in the Investors since it opened, it is a rip off, very poor service, draft beer generally flat, TVs break down, free pies and novelist always very busy despite the lounges being quite! .have emailed several times and got nowhere. There used to be 15 of us and we ran our own bus, now there are 4. My pal takes his two Bhoys who are 5 and 6, it’s £400 each for them!

The KS deal does bring into question what we are getting for our money. My view is great but it is not value for money by any stretch hence why there are big spaces for every game.

I have been thinking about it, not that it will help with my broadband width.

What is holding me back is the silence re the corruption.

Maybes I am asking for too much, maybes not.

Even if they spoke out about the referees, and pressed for transparency, I would buy one in an instant.

There is still an agenda against the club, and the club are bending over taking it, that doesn’t sit well.

I will probably end up buying one, but I do want to see the club standing up for the supporters.

    Reassure me.

I know it will be whitewash, just like all the rest, what can we do ?

The only thing we can do is inform the club we are holding back out cash, they will act quick enough then.

But that is not happening at Celtic, or any other club, so it’s same old, same old.

Don’t miss the old town, and the laser show, I believe you can now do a zip line slide down the length of it.

You can spend a night watching the free shows outside the front of the hotels, one a volcano show ( can’t mind name of hotel, but next to Balagio), then the water show at Balagio, followed by the Treasure Island boat show, go over to Venetian, and a wee gondola trip.

Need to do 9 fine Irishmen in New York New York, and don’t miss the Piano bar in time square, also in New York

Lets say me and you are owners of a football club, we gained a licence from our governing body as long as 1 of our associates isn’t involved as he was banned from Scottish football.

Licence granted but months later it comes to light that our associate who is banned from Scottish football is involved.

In my opinion someone at the SFA advised Sevco it would look better if they asked a company to launch an investigation into the goings on at ibrox.

Now why would me and you ask for a company to investigate our club, answer is we wouldn’t it’s ludicrous.

Why would me and you put our club at risk, the SFA are corrupt and the quicker fans get them out of office the better.
