Fighting the same foe too many times

1064

Napoleon observed that no one should fight the same enemy too many times, as eventually their superior ways and techniques will become redundant as the inferior foe will eventually hit on a strategy which works.

Dundee United did reasonably well in their two games against Celtic in the last 9 days, despite playing a considerable part of both games with a man disadvantage.  They will arrive at Celtic Park tomorrow night having learned a few lessons, and hooping to compete with a full complement of players.

The danger for Celtic lies in what happened against St Johnstone at Celtic Park earlier this month.  The Perth team have won only two of their nine games since 17 January but they knew what to expect from Celtic, who were marginally off-pace, enough so to leave the field without points.  Another marginally off-pace performance tomorrow night and talk of trebles will evaporate in an instant.

If we’re vulnerable at any point between now and the end of the season, it’s this midweek.

Haven’t rad back far enough to get the origins of weefragate, but having briefly met the man and knowing others who lurve the ghuy,,I’m disgusted to see posters whose names I’ve never seen before are not worthy to talk of the man verbally abusing a decent man and a esteemed CQNr. Weefra

Really looking forward to tonight’s cup tie. And would happily take a win tonight and a draw at the weekend. Well, I say happily but you know what I mean ;-)

  9. What to make of this, posted on RM (from someone in Thurso)….

“Jig lucky he still here . If we never went in administration . He would been long gone . He defintley needs to be dropped . He no even a centre back. Put ryan sinnamon in right back see no harm in that we had wrose in right back this season . Also put Macgregor in centre back. Also male wallace as captain . Boyd just lazy player . Only think he can do is score goals .Like playing with ten men . Saddenly this season he no scoreing .He should be shown the door in summer time . Pair of them are keeping us back . ”

    Yeah maybe!!

    Could be a late night

We have lost a wee bit of zip lately, which is understandable considering the amount of games we have been playing.

It may come down to the will to win tonight or just whoever buries a chance.

A place in the semi’s is all that matters.

  11. Tonight’s game is massive.

I hope the Celtic faithful turn up and show that to the team.

A good crowd and we could have a great night and another step on the way to a magical treble. We will have played our part.

The usual pathetic midweek domestic crowd and no one who does not go along from the central belt at least can complain if we don’t get a win.

This game can define if it is a great season for Celtic. All those thinking about it get along and bring a friend.

  12. Thunder needed tonight NOT whimpering and whinging on CQN !

Get along and get behind our team.

I do understand the point behind your posts and wishing for as big a crowd as possible at tonight’s game. However, I do think you miss the struggle that many have to always be there simply because of the financial cost.

It doesn’t make them any less Celtic supporters.

just had a scan back over recent posts. Guidetti got a mention or two. But I said a couple of weeks ago our Ronny will man manage that young talent… and Big Ron is playing him perfectly.

‘Its obscurity? or sign for the Celts and I’ll make you a hero son?’

    up to you Johnny bhoy?

Or feyenoord where you’ve be adored in the past, will get more money and will get to take penalties!

    ;-)

I agree with you, RD could be the making of him. But I don’t think he’s wise enough to see that for himself.

I agree with much of what you post but £15 a ticket and concessions is not expensive for football. For most fans surely. Especially a cup tie with a winner guaranteed.

60000 can find twice that for inter Milan. My post is about folk who can’t be bothered and not folk who can’t afford.

This is a huge game where our club is on the verge of achieving something special.

To not go because of the price of less than a couple of fish suppers is not so likely.

I may be wrong but most folk from central belt who don’t go is because they can’t be bothered.

Plenty will be moaning when we get less than 26000 tickets for the Hibs final for a treble win if that happens.

  16. Managed to switch off my alarm by accident this morning.

Went on to have a mini dream about doing a mentoring session with the Celtic squad! What was I going to tell them?!?!? Breathing’s important in football????!!!!

    ;-)

Anyway, awoke. 20 mins late. Walk the dog or get breakfast?

Well The dog Is walked and has had breakfast. Me, only the walk…….

You know the reasons why most people in Central Scotland can’t make it to Glasgow on a Wednesday night for a football game? I doubt that very much since the reasons will be and varied. Sounds like you’re on Easy Street, but not everyone is in the happy position of being able to do whatever they want whenever they want.

    I’m bothered but I won’t be there.

Should be a financial decision but that wouldn’t stop me – that’s why I’ve been skint all my life!

Rather it’s trying to balance family commitments. That means I can’t get to CP as often as I’d like, ie every time!

Doesn’t make me any less committed or any less in love with Celtic.
