For the love of the game. And endurance of Ally McCoist

1247

Close to 100 people agreed to participate in the Scottish FA’s disciplinary panel, as Neil Lennon put it yesterday, “for the love of the game”.  Processes were established and although panel members would meet and be introduced to club officials who were subject to their decisions, they were granted freedom from publicity in order for them to hand out punishments free of intimidation.

This freedom has now gone.

Such was the reaction to Ally McCoist’s public demand to know the names of the panel members who judged the actions of his club the SFA felt it prudent to select panellists who were happy to expose themselves and their places of employment to the outcry the original panellists endured.  IF they uphold of increase the penalties.

On Wednesday evening we should find out whether intimidation of the SFA works.

The biggest scandal of all is that despite the consequences of McCoist’s actions, the SFA have taken no disciplinary action against him.  Rangers officials are free to react to the appeal judgement in the same manner as the original without fear of consequence.

Other managers who are pursued for more prosaic matters might consider the SFA panel have something personal against them.

Never mind the Horribles. Today is all about us .

We’ll see the Bhoys bring the League Trophy home to Paradise and we’ll see in front of us the support and love which this beautiful picture of Mr and Mrs Gormley with our very own Thai Tims so eloquently affirms.

The look of love and support on the faces of those weans and the joy on Mrs Gormley’s face in particular, at being physically carried through her troubles, after all that her family must have been through, is worth a million words. Brings a tear to your eye.

Thai Tims with Mr and Mrs Gormley

At the risk of sounding like Tiny Tim, God bless us, every one.

    Today’s our day.

June 6 creditors meeting. Does that give time for new season? Will they have to take a ‘gap year’?

Or will they just be dissolved never to rise again?

Why is it so important to get a new owner in place before season end…

    I smell a rat…

So rangers will be liquidated on June 6th.

One week after they will be voted back into SPL.

  5. Hurray for Rangers!

A CVA must have been agreed.

HMRC are going to take pennies in the pound

Whyte as agreed, because the CVA is in place remember, is handing over the shares for a quid and obviously he is waiving his other floating charge…

And of course Green must have made a deal with Ticketus which means Ally will get a war chest after all…..

Yep, all that must’ve been sorted yesterday, just in time to stop the supporters going tonto today, maybe delay the immediate resignation of a few players tomorrow morning, well done Green and Whyte.

  6. One of two things will happen.

    1. Green sees the same information that Miller does (unless Craig Whyte is playing with Clip Art again). He also runs for the hills.

    2. Creditors reject a CVA – and then?

“If the creditors do not approve the Company Voluntary Arrangement, the agreement obliges Charles Green’s purchasing vehicle to acquire the business and assets of the Club on agreed terms, through a newco structure”

Now I’ve not seen how much would be in the CVA pot. But it won’t be massive – and then D&P’s fees come off. And Whyte hasn’t,as far as I can see, given up his floating charge. So the creditors will be asked to accept practically nothing.

So, somewhere in June the sale of the assets to Green’s newco takes place. The new club has to be formed, financed, all the legal issues sorted out, apply to have the SPL share transferred, apply for an DSF license, apply for a UEFA exception, find some players, etc.

And all before the new season starts ….

  7. Why is everyone so confident huns will be liquidated ?

Would HMRC not accept something rather than nothing ?

  8. The reality facing Agent Green…

“Green will soon uncover a football club under threat from all sides, one that has completed a season with no intention of paying for their expensively acquired players or squaring up with HMRC for Income Tax and National Insurance.

With no audited accounts since 2010 there will be no licence to play in European football next season and a question mark over whether they should be licenced to play domestically.

Add in a transfer embargo and no clarity over season ticket revenue and it wouldn’t be the greatest shock of the year if Green’s interest comes to a halt at any point this week as another individual realises that Rangers as a business are unsustainable”

  13. NEIL LENNON’S plans for next season have been dealt a huge blow as a deal to sign Polish defender Jaroslaw Fojut was cancelled due to injury.

Fojut sustained a serious knee injury in his final game for Slask Wroclaw – a repeat of the cruciate damage he suffered while playing for Bolton in the Premiership.

Fojut, 24, meet Celtic doctor Roddy MacDonald last week when the injury was confirmed.

The SPL champs have now pulled the plug on the pre-contract agreement he signed in January.

It is a major set-back for gaffer Lennon who is desperate to strengthen his central defence with Glenn Loovens and Daniel Majstorovic set to move on.

Lennon said: “It looks like Jaroslaw has done his cruciate and that deal is off now. He was in London on Tuesday with our doctor Roddy to see a specialist.

“When you sign a player on a pre-contract there is always that option to break it. It’s a huge blow for him – and for us. We really liked the cut of him.

“We need a team for the Champions League qualifiers and it could take longer than six months for him to recover.

“It would be a gamble so we’ll have to look elsewhere. Dan and Glenn are both out of contract so we may have to go shopping for two more central defenders.

“We’ve already made inroads. We put a bid in for a player last week and are waiting to see how that’s progressing.

“I’ve a list of players. I’m under no illusions I might have to sell a player to balance the books.”

Lennon is adamant Kelvin Wilson isn’t on the way out despite Leicester being linked with a £3million bid for the player.

The gaffer said: “There’s been nothing between the clubs.

“Kelvin had a pretty good season and we are short of players in his position. We wouldn’t be in a rush to do anything there.

  14. So this 30million hole tha B Miller found has gone away. If its venture capitalists behind it they rely on banks and other folks money what chance a credit line for RFC(IA)?

  15. hen1rik –

If you were a creditor owed say £1,000 and were offered £50 or nothing then, yes I guess you’d take it. But the issue with HMRC is that they deal with distressed businesses (and individuals) every day of the year and cannot be seen to be willing to ‘do deals’ such as this. HMRC will object to any CVA..

Surely if it was me or you and we were offered something rather than nothing would you or i not accept ?

But is it really something or nothing? If CVA fails aren’t they obliged to liquidate and sell off the assets to pay creditors?

  17. There are just so many elephants, gorillas, rhino’s and quite possibly killer whales in rangers room just now it really is quite pointless in them running around with the dust pan and brush sweeping up the crumbs from the Tesco Value Digestive biscuits they are forced to eat with their tea over there now.

They are gone and no amount of imaginative marketing is going to alter that fact.

Oh, I almost forgot – the investigation in to dual contracts. Just another hurdle – one that on it’s own could finish the club.

Whatever Newco emerges from this wreckage it will have only a fraction of rangers 1872 spending power. The wilderness beckons for the FollowFollowers.

Can anyone else smell Craig Whyte in this latest installment?

Taking my young bhoy to his first presentation of the league trophy today. He was at the last game of the season and as a bonding between father and son it will take some beating. Hopefully the same two hours of theatre will eclipse that today.

I’m suspicious something seriously dastardly is going on here…

Is it normal to carry out these kind of business transactions on a Saturday and into Sunday morning? Seems like extraordinary haste to me.

Possibly to get something in place before the game this afternoon?

Or am I just a born worrier?

  22. Joe Filippis Haircut on

I think the interest in Rangers from green is a good thing as it will drag this saga on for a few weeks more (maybe ) and the huns will continue to bleed money out of the door with no real income.Any business man with savvy will realise they will have to pour millions into the sinking ship in order to play in the SPL.H.H.

  23. hen1rik,

If HMRC agrees that one company can stop paying its taxes and give them a small fraction of the amount due later, why would any other business then pay them a penny?

The won’t want to set a precedent that says you can benefit from not paying your tax.

  24. Having given this 5 minutes thought, after the initial ‘is this some cunning ruse?’ concern I say with confidence that they are still dying.

Enjoy the title party. Duff and Duffer, Green and Whyte may just have made everyones day that little bit safer. Confused Huns thinking they are safe may just decide not to batter Timmy on his way home from the game. Whyte and his pals are Celtic legends, even going to these lengths to protect the Celtic support.
