For the love of the game. And endurance of Ally McCoist

1247

Close to 100 people agreed to participate in the Scottish FA’s disciplinary panel, as Neil Lennon put it yesterday, “for the love of the game”.  Processes were established and although panel members would meet and be introduced to club officials who were subject to their decisions, they were granted freedom from publicity in order for them to hand out punishments free of intimidation.

This freedom has now gone.

Such was the reaction to Ally McCoist’s public demand to know the names of the panel members who judged the actions of his club the SFA felt it prudent to select panellists who were happy to expose themselves and their places of employment to the outcry the original panellists endured.  IF they uphold of increase the penalties.

On Wednesday evening we should find out whether intimidation of the SFA works.

The biggest scandal of all is that despite the consequences of McCoist’s actions, the SFA have taken no disciplinary action against him.  Rangers officials are free to react to the appeal judgement in the same manner as the original without fear of consequence.

Other managers who are pursued for more prosaic matters might consider the SFA panel have something personal against them.

  1. well blow me down, I’m convinced. Rangers are saved and will be in the Champions League Final next year after spending tens of millions in the transfer market on the finest under 18 players stolen money can buy!

SURELY even the RFC fans can’t possibly fall for this AGAIN!?

  2. Morning all,

Is the rush not because the players can walk away after the game today?

There still up the creek though!

I’m suspicious something seriously dastardly is going on here…

Is it normal to carry out these kind of business transactions on a Saturday and into Sunday morning? Seems like extraordinary haste to me.

Possibly to get something in place before the game this afternoon?

Or am I just a born worrier?

    ===============================

IMO it may have something to do with being able to flog a few players and bring a few more quid in to the pot to keep things going a while longer. As I understand it players can leave this week if there is no deal in place (I am open to correction on that of course)

I also think it is a ruse to neuter any moves to protest or do anything daft among their supporters today.

Time is also a factor. If Green wants newco in the SPL (if he had any sense he wouldn’t) I think he has to act pretty fast to get the new club up and running.

  5. I am hearing that the Green plan is to merge with Sheffield Utd and get TFOD into league 1 in England in 2 years time.

This is it bhoys TFOD are for the off. Declan has never been wrong before.

  6. So £8.5M in the CVA pot. Take off say £2.5M for D&P’s fees. That’s £6M.

Either all of it goes to Craig Whyte and no one else gets a penny, or they somehow manage to avoid paying him (like that’s going to happen!). Even if they did that’s £6M to creditors owed £140M – 4.3p in the £.

Yeah, they will go for that!

  8. When you are pursuing monies owed to you, do you:

    a) Pursue the first debtor you find to get as much from them, regardless of the longer term possibility of losing 1000s of times that amount in the future?

    b) Pursue the first debtor, even to the point of getting almost zero back to make it very clear to all other debtors that you mean business and are out to get them

I think “b”. It’s likely to return an infinitely greater yield.

  13. why the big press release today – a Sunday morning ? Is it because it’s their final game of the season ….. or is today their first as a newco ?

    hmmmmm ……

  14. The Honest Mistake loves being first on

They don’t mention hmrc because Hmrc will get sfa from the cva.

First the prefered creditors (remember those deferred player wages?) and the secured creditors will be paid in full (Craig whyte) then the remainder of the pot (now standing at 0 will be split amongst the non secured/preferred creditors.

The feeble cva offer is an attempt to recreate the English bottom league precedent of transferring the league place to a newco after a cva has been rejected by the creditors.

  15. So

    Hen1rik,

Say the creditors get offered 9M to cover 134M of debts, 6.7p for every pound owed.

If they believe that the clubs assets are worth, say 18M on the open market in a liquidation scenario they then get a possible 13.4p for every pound owed.

    Assets at liquidation:

Ibrox – worth very little 2M?

    Murray park – 5M?

Trophy room contents on ebay – 5M?

Players – registration reverts to SFA who sell on with proceeds going to creditors 12M?

    CVA – no chance.
