For the love of the game. And endurance of Ally McCoist

1247

Close to 100 people agreed to participate in the Scottish FA’s disciplinary panel, as Neil Lennon put it yesterday, “for the love of the game”.  Processes were established and although panel members would meet and be introduced to club officials who were subject to their decisions, they were granted freedom from publicity in order for them to hand out punishments free of intimidation.

This freedom has now gone.

Such was the reaction to Ally McCoist’s public demand to know the names of the panel members who judged the actions of his club the SFA felt it prudent to select panellists who were happy to expose themselves and their places of employment to the outcry the original panellists endured.  IF they uphold of increase the penalties.

On Wednesday evening we should find out whether intimidation of the SFA works.

The biggest scandal of all is that despite the consequences of McCoist’s actions, the SFA have taken no disciplinary action against him.  Rangers officials are free to react to the appeal judgement in the same manner as the original without fear of consequence.

Other managers who are pursued for more prosaic matters might consider the SFA panel have something personal against them.

  1. Morning everyone looking forward to the buzz today at CP.

Spare a thought for those boys in blue playing their last ever game today as well. Tee hee!!!

No doubt we will get the ‘news’ this morning that rankers are saved by the Green Knights the new preferred fibber. Millions being poured in, CVA a cert, HMRC accepting 10p in £, war chest for Sally etc..etc.. We could all write the MSM/SSN headlines for them.

The bottom line is that the fundamentals (in business it is the fundamentals that matter) of the company remain the same it is F*****. The only way forward is the big L and start a new company.

So remember that when you hear all about the ‘plans’ today and the ‘saved’ headlines these are all just a smokescreen. This is just to keep the orc’s happy. After a few weeks of due diligence and after several valiant attempts to save it the RFC(IA) has become RFC(RIP). It will be pronounced dead and that starting a new company was the only way left for them.

They can dress this up a Oldco/newco, incubator co, newco called oldco, or disco but you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. They may have a team that plays in blue at Ibroke sometime in the future but it is not rankers. We know they are dead.

    Hail! Hail!

Who in their right minds would buy a club that’s about to be slapped with a massive tax bill plus fines?

What is the underlying plan here?

meantime, have a great day all, wherever you’re watching the game, and if you’re going to Celtic Park, give the champions a cheer for me :)

  4. Correct me if I am wrong here……….I see folk alluding to the possibility that there will a flag raised today at Celtic Park. I was under the impression that it was the league trophy that would be presented today. In all my years of following Celtic the league flag has always been run up the flag pole on the first game at home the following season. In the Kelly’s era it was the local undertakers Willie Considines motor that was hired to convey the flag party from the tunnel to the bit of roof at the rangers end of the jungle

Anyway if the manager hadn’t made a chorus and verse of it at Hampden a couple of weeks ago we might have had another opportunity to celebrate a trophy next week

    But c’mon the Hibees

Small world, I travelled on that bus from late 70’s to mid/late 80’s. Pick up at X-roads in Rosyth unless it was going north, then you had to travel to Kirkcaldy to get it. Good crack from what I remember, think most of the older bhoys were either miners or dockers.

The post at bottom was the same idea I had regards the stadium .

    Capacity of 80000 seats/2 tier.

The 1st tier 40000/50000 could more or less be filled every game and the upper tier for champions league/ change of league status.

It takes people of great conviction and fore sight to attempt what fergus archived then .And all with a limited budget and against opposition trying to scupper his every move.

The whole match day experience at Celtic park requires a total rethink and could be a massive income generator even on non match day IMHO.

Does the new owner not complicate the Huns situation more? No stadium unless it was part of the pound deal.

  9. In which I look at D&P’s view of the appeal, their comments about Brian Kennedy and Mr Kennedy’s creative structuring of the deal, the appearance that the Blue Knights deal can be criticised for doing exactly what Craig Whyte was castigated for, and that the Blue Knights business plan seems to be founded on the failed strategy which led Rangers to where it is now, the never ending bidder story, and I pose a quiz question.

Great stuff, hadnt seen it before. Makes you wonder what the hun set list was last year at Rugby park, in exactly the same circumstances. I reckon they only have 2 or 3 songs max, which are not sectarian, banned or offensive in any way, or have add-ons. Hang on a minute, the songs I give them ‘credit’ for may well be hijacked too. Tell you what, I’ll throw out a challenge to anyone who can name a hun song which is not for a player eg ‘super ally’, and is not offensive. Last year I looked a hun songbook which was posted on another SPL club forum. The list included 12 songs sung at an Ibrox league match and ALL were aimed at Catholics, Fenians, Bobby Sands and referred to 300 year old battles, paedophlia and mass genocide (before being banned). And thats them with their act cleaned up!

  16. The devil may well be in the detail in relation to the latest saviour down ole govan way, the crux of the matter is that mr green still requires to convince the creditors that a cva is in “their” best interests, if Hector believes that allowing a company to openly and blatantly cheat them out of millions is in the best interests of the country then im an albanian goat herder, mehinks there’s a wee bit of mileage left in this yet despite what sections of the media would have you believe

  18. seems like dignity knows no end. Firstly murray of the sdm variety cannot believe as the highly esteemed owner of rangers for 23 years that the sfa did not show him the report before it was published, is that how things are/were done!!! Secondly the bk bid was made of of money owed to rangers by debtors nearly 3m, however since the bulk of this is from everton for jelavic maybe someone should tell rapid vienna to go to everton directly as it looks like they are being lined up for sfa at this stage as a ibrokes creditor!!!

Hail to the champions. I’m 50 and I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. I’m going with two of my sons and I feel the luckiest man alive. Luck however would would infer that perhaps this title was won by some kind of chance or risk taking. It was won by playing very good and occasionally brilliant football. Thanks to Neil and his staff for that. I remember and will never forget sitting in the North Stand when they did the huddle. We didn’t know at that time they were nothing better than low life scum bag cheats. We are all lucky to be here witnessing all this unravelling as we all know friends and loved ones who cant be here today. So this afternoon after our celebration I’ll raise several glasses to them and The Celtic and Athletic Club Ltd. Hail Hail.

    Takeover deal for Rangers agreed

Former Sheffield United chief executive Charles Green has agreed a deal to buy Scottish Premier League side Rangers.

The deal will be announced at the club’s training base Murray Park at 1000 BST on Sunday when the 59-year-old is due to outline his plans.

It is understood Green wants to form a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) and he is backed with finance from Singapore businessmen.

He plans to watch Sunday’s final SPL match of the season at St Johnstone.

Green joined the race to rescue the crisis-hit club last week before previous favourite Bill Miller withdrew his bid.

Since the American Miller pulled out, the Blue Knights, led by former director Paul Murray, and Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy had hoped to be named preferred bidder on Friday.

Kennedy said he had spent three hours at Rangers owner Craig Whyte’s castle discussing the crisis at the club and that Whyte had agreed to transfer his 85% shareholding to him.

He had flown from New York to Glasgow overnight on Thursday expecting to get the nod from administrators Duff & Phelps to complete a period of due diligience and to proceed with the CVA.

However, Green’s late bid proved to be more attractive to the administrators whose role is to secure the best deal for the club’s creditors, of whom HMRC and Ticketus are the key players.

SSN headline on screen ‘takeover deal for rankers agreed’ press conference at 10am.

Then we hear that at the press conference that LBC are to be announced as the new…preferred bidder!!! So what’s changed. (Bet there is no mention of paying £500k for exclusivity).

    Big plans, no liquidation Blah…Blah…yawn!!!

I was before that but overlapped into the 70’s and Tiny Tim the character that I remember best was a guy from Methil or Buckhaven called Cullen.

Old Benny had him on last warnings a few times.

Old Benny was a regular gent. Navy-blue, double-breasted suit and built like a brick sh..house. He ran a tight ship and no-nonsense but was a true Celtic supporter and good bus steward though at time he had a job akin to herding cats.
