Forget histrionics and win 15-in-a-row

443

The off-field histrionics that a visit to Tynecastle invariably brings is of little interest today.  For now, don’t really care about the history of this fixture or the disposition of the natives.  Such matters pale into insignificance beside the three points on offer to the team who have won 14 consecutive games in domestic football, a run that extends back to October.

Neil Lennon and his players will let others worry about life’s dramas, the likely influence of Hearts fifth winding-up order, served this week, the “political situation” that has a bearing on Hearts team selection, or even the 2-0 defeat at the same venue four months ago.  They will instead focus on how to deliver a disciplined performance against a team who have recorded unlikely highs and lows this season.

10-man Hearts put five goals past St Mirren last month but were lucky to leave Tynecastle with a draw against 10-man St Johnstone at the weekend after Cillian Sheridan ran them ragged.  They are neck-and-neck with St Johnstone in the league, both of whom have slipped six points behind Motherwell in the chase for what may yet become a Champions League spot.

The biggest decision for Neil Lennon may be in defence.  Celtic have lost only two league goals in their last nine outings (they lost 12 in the previous nine), which has been crucial in their push to the top of the league.  This has seen opportunities for now-fit Kelvin Wilson limited.  Kelvin played a full 90 minutes in the Scottish Cup against Inverness on Saturday and will give the manager a decision to make.

Happy Birthday to Martin42, 70 years of refusing to take life too seriously.  A win tonight would give us a better birthday reference point than the cold and miserable night at Celtic Park 12 years ago.

  1. Paul67,

Tonights game is absolutely massive and I think Celtic will be fired up for this game. If we come away with 3 points then I think it will finish Rangers resolve to keep close to us. It will not be easy tonight because all the Hearts players will be playing to try and secure their own futures at other clubs, they will be giving even more effort than they usually do against us which will make this a brilliant win if we manage it.

I hope the Hooperman continues his form from the weekend as he was sensational and with the likely change of James Forrest for Kris Commons then I am confident of getting a win by 2 goals possibly 3.

I’m really looking forward to this game as it should be a cracker, hopefully not spoiled by GOLLUM.

  2. Was just checking the referee appointments on the SFA site, I didn’t realise it was Collum tonight. Oh dear, mood changer.

So the return of cousin and his elbows is expected.

Although this season 2 hun thugs have already been red carded for elbowing, granted naibalance was about 3 days after he tried to smash a dunfermline players face.

So how long till we see cousin being sent off for elbowing.

It wont be next week as he’s suspended, for a red card he recieved in his last game for the hun’s, for elbowing.

Can’t argue with any of that. My point was that there seems to have been a glaring question posited by the defence that the prosecution didn’t properly address. This planted the seed of doubt that the defence then exploited to full advantage.

Patterns of behaviour do usually signify a consistent cause and effect, and I have reservations about the verdict. Harry even seeks to portray himself as the genial East End barra boy, which means that he is seen by the public as a Deloy rather than a criminal. That geniality was also one of the reasons he was not convicted.

Adam Boulton actaually asked Harry if he thought he was one of the greats of the game. Now that is a step too far. I do not know if Harry had the good grace to blush.

  7. Evening everyone

Nerves are building up for the kick off.

I believe we are better now than the team who lost on our last trip to Tynecastle.

But I dont think we are any better than the team who won 1-0 at home in the last game. Thanks to a foster save.

    So

We need to step it up a bit tonight to come out of there unscathed, if we do it will be enough.

If we are bland, and we can be, we run the risk of the MIB having a bearing on the game.

So I hope the manager puts out a positive side and goes for a good win and not a deeply defensive team who hope to steal a win

on the break ala Inverness. (two set pieces)

  8. Neil has such choice now in the squad that it’s difficult to anticipate what formation he will pick for this game. I would go for the same team he played against Caley with James Forrest coming in for Commons. Hard choice to leave out our top scorer Anto but have him ready to be sprung from the bench.

    Come on the HOOPS.

    With what part?

We sell corporate tickets at a much increased price in comparison to games against other teams and as stated, the two games are part of the ST package worth over 1/10th of the ST income (2 from 19 home games). Added to that that they are the only games we now sell out, I’d say we make about that amount from the games v them.
