‘FORGOTTEN CELT’ WANTED

1

CELTIC’S forgotten hitman Vakoun Bayo is wanted by St Mirren in a loan deal.

Paisley boss Jim Goodwin attempted to sign the Ivorian striker in the January transfer window, but was out of luck and is poised to try again, according to a BBC report.

Bayo is currently struggling to overcome a leg strain has failed to appear in the three pre-season games in France against Nice, Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain and there was no show from the £2million attacker in the recent friendlies against Ross County and Hibs at Parkhead.

But Goodwin, who saw his side open their Premiership campaign with a 1-0 win over Livingston, will attempt again to persuade Neil Lennon to allow the 23-year-old forward to leave as he tries to boost his Saints first-team squad.

Bayo has struggled for game time since Brendan Rodgers bought him from Slovakian club Dunajská Streda in January 2019, scoring only four times in 17 appearances. He was on target twice last season, against Partick Thistle in the 5-0 Betfred League Cup triumph in September, and against Clyde in the 3-0 Scottish Cup win.
