Game time shortage for Compper

768

While the postponement of today’s Premiership game against Dundee was inevitable, Brendan Rodgers and the players will be far from happy not participating in a game they prepared for.  For the manager, in particular, this of one of the two games he could deploy Marvin Compper before heading to Ibrox a week on Sunday.

Compper signed his Celtic contact in December but it will be March before he wears the hoops for the first time. His experience would be invaluable at Ibrox next week, but on the back of only one game, and that against lower league opposition?

I don’t know the player but without further evidence, I’d stick with Ajer and Simonovic.

    **** LAST MAN STANDING 10 ****

    ******** THE LAUNCH ********

We are now welcoming entrants for the return of our Last Man Standing competition which starts Friday 9th March 2018.

The competition will follow the same format as before and to win the entire prizepot, all you have to be is the Last (wo)man Standing remaining at the end of the competition.

Not played before? Simply, select a uniquely different team from the list of football fixtures provided by us each week, and if you are the last (wo)man standing, then you win the prize. Remember you can only pick the same team once in any competition, so you need to decide when to play the big guns! Full rules will be emailed to everyone who shows any interest.

The cost to take part is £10 per entry ( you can have more than 1 entry if you wish), and just in case you falter in any weeks 1 to 3, then we even allow you to buy your history back for a further £10. How easy is that? Surely you must win it!

The prizepot is 50% of all entrance and “history buyback” fees, with the remaining 50% being paid over to good causes.

For LMS10, the remaining 50% will be split between our Lisbon nominated benefactor “CQN Helping OUR mate Mick” receiving 80% of the donated proceeds and our Seville nominated benefactor “Just another street dog”, a charitable cause that is run by one of our CQNers and his wife, receiving 20% of the donated proceeds.

You can read about these worthy causes here –

    mymatemick.com

    https://www.facebook.com/Spanishstreetdogs/

So if you want to take part please send an email to cqnpredictor@gmail.com saying ” Count me in” and we will send you emails detailing the rules, how to pay your £10 and, of course, the first week’s fixtures.

Please also feel free to encourage family, friends and work colleagues to join in, as they more that take part, means a bigger prizepot and more monies raised for good causes.

In LMS9, we had 137 entrants which was a record. It would be great to beat this record entry level in LMS10.

I know the abbey graveyard very well when I was young we would get our under age kerry oot fae The Clock Cafe at the Thorn then climb the wall into the graveyard to drink it. The wee caretaker had a really bad limp and we knew he couldn’t catch us if he chased us. He made an agreement with us that if we put our empties in the bin or took them with us he widnae phone the polis. Kerry oot was usually a flagon of cider a bottle of old england wine and either cans of beer or bottles of whitbread between about 10 of us “happy days”

Word of The Day (Glibby tried it with the Takeover Panel ….)

    Stymie. /ˈstaɪmɪ/

verb (transitive; often passive) -mies, -mieing, -mied, -mies, -mying, -mied

    1. to hinder or thwart

    2. (golf) to impede with a stymie

    noun (pl) -mies

    3. a situation of obstruction

    4. a situation or problem presenting such difficulties as to discourage or defeat any attempt to deal with or resolve it.

    5. (golf) (formerly) a situation on the green in which an opponent’s ballis blocking the line between the hole and the ball about to be played

Word Origin and History for stymie

1834, (n.), “condition in which an opponent’s golf ball blocks the hole,”perhaps from Scottish stymie “person who sees poorly,” from stime “the least bit” (c.1300), of uncertain origin (Icelandic cognate skima is attested from c.1685). The verb, in golf, is from 1857; general sense of “block, hinder, thwart” is from 1902.

If I am reading that properly,80 % of the fans boycotted the game because they don`t like the idea of Monday night football for the sake of Television.

I would say that that gives the German supporters a greater right to the Best Fans in the World title.

If only we were well enough organised to mount meaningful protest to the many wrong that take place in Scottish Football.

Stalwarts like our Res 12 gang of Four are fantastic but we need a more powerful voice ie one which can affect finances.

    JJ

PS I suppose the above is a bit like any one of Kev j`s ten thousand posts :-)

  11. All this excitement with Sevco fans re catching us up , was all brought on by our own club . That team and performance against st Johnstone was diabolical, solely with the return game in Russia in mind . Two valuable points thrown away , poor business gambling 30+ million ,for a couple of million EL money . Home should be where we put all our efforts into . Because if we don’t win this league ,then they will be back .

  12. I see that the BBC site believes that the most significant news in Scottish Football today is the view of a Hun ( Alex Rae) that Sevco must beat Celtic on the 11th if they are to win the title.

That `powerful voice ` I mentioned above would be useful in dealing with such obvious bias.

The most diabolical performance in the Saints game was that of the referee,John Beaton.

Also, had we got a result against Zenit, your post would not have been posted (!). Hindsight is not a wonderful thing at all; it is a meaningless thing.

The most pertinent difference between the German footy fans and elsewhere seems to be that they have the ears and attention of their respective clubs plc’s.

    I agree about it’s effectiveness.

German’s eh ,even their boycotts are super efficient;))))

Aberdeen are still closer to sevco than the new Huns are to us. The real push is whether sevco can hold on to second

  17. Sorry to harp on about Sevco.

Dave King committed major offences in South Africa and he was still able to do business in Scotland. If King doesn’t offer for the other shares then what effect will it have.

I have heard about “the cold shoulder” but will this not be ignored like his South African crimes were?

The fact he is a Real Rangers man trumps any constraints.

I think they will just continue on with business as usual. They pretend there was no Liquidation and the SFA rolls over and does what they want.

Next year they will sell as many season tickets and get a license for Europe where surely they can beat clubs of the standard of Luxemburg.

  19. Used to love snow when I was a kid, especially if we had time off school. This snow is annoying me because it has caused the Dundee game to be postponed and perhaps the Morton. Incidentally will the wee traitor from the Port want to play us before we play Sevco?

Woke Wednesday morning to snow and to discover that I had my passenger’s door window smashed in by someone using the handle of a broom. The electrics failed due to the alarm being on all night as I slept through it. Awaiting car to be moved as it is completely snowed in. Worse still the insurance inform me that I will have to pay the costs in full as they do not have anyone to claim from in this case. This is the company that informed me that I was a loyal customer. I have been with them for 21 years. So much for loyalty.
