Gang of 10 plan creates 41 winners and only one loser

Q. There will be 12 teams in the SPL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 11.

Q. There will be 30 teams in the SFL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 30.

Although TV and commercial money will be diluted, it is a sideshow compared to the real cash cow remaining in Scottish football, the gate money at Celtic Park.  The Gang of 10 refused to exclude this option from their proposed change in voting rights.

A 20% share of gate money doesn’t have sufficient support from SPL clubs, too many losers.  A 30% gate share only has one loser, everyone else wins, including the club who took 87 fans to a league game at Celtic Park last season.

This is nothing to do with Sevco, who are unlikely to pull a financially viable plan together (although the SPL and SFA are still trying).  You’re being asked to open your wallets and pay for the upkeep of 42 stadiums, squads, boards of directors and kit men.

This is not a viable plan.  It’s time for Scottish football to admit defeat.  Sport has been subverted for over a decade to the point there is nothing left.  We can keep Hampden and the national team going, but there is no viable league structure.  The sooner we accept this and move on the better.

Agree he was a good role model for kids in a sporting capacity. Not sure anyone who loves themselves that much could be described as “very good” though.

  3. Guys thanks for the hints and e-mails so far.

I watched Part 3 of Orator on the steps of Ibrox on You Tube and I found it quite disconcerting and mildly threatening.

It’s a strange psychology that can comfortably decry Marseille’s cheating loudly and not feel a sting of irony somewhere.

A strange psychology which can celebrate their 9 in a row and echo it with the word dignity.

Yet decry Murray, Whyte and Green out of hand.

Celebrate the baubles the cheating brought whilst simultaneously decrying the man who bought them.

Sing their songs in complete isolation from the fact that up until Murray they were in the wilderness struggling to pull in 2k’s worth of supporters.

That’s what rests most uneasily with me – that dichotomy. They have as a support – from the guy barking on those steps – to the guys mawkishly standing around those steps – seen their history as unimpeachable, no matter its roots. They are truly unrepentant and strike me as only actually angry about the fact that their ‘given superiority’ has been somehow revoked by the smoke and mirror men up the marble staircase.

They’re just demanding to be back where they were. They seem to expect that the money will somehow flow there – and what they don’t chuck in, the ‘un-named’ backers will front load.

These are bad, bad times. And Mr Brown is resorting to Rhetoric the obese Paul LeGuen would probably choke on.

I worry again for Celtic supporters these coming months. Young men.

I worry too for people like Charles Green – fools like Leggat have listed his Hotel on the web, alongside a Mea Culpa for the actions of the ‘We’re mad as hell about something and we ain’t gonna take whatever it is we’re mad about anymore’ crew, him and people like Brown are busy whipping up into a frenzy.

That video and Leggat’s blatant call to arms has left a bad taste.

And what does ‘scrutinise the press’ mean in title deed context.

What you would have hoped for is some of their fans coming out and shouting – that man does not speak for me.

Which ‘Rangers’ is to be invited to SPL2?

Charles Green’s Sevco? Which currently has 13 players, 3 of them out of contract and 5 of them juniors. Which is apparently struggling to pay these players and is unlikely to be able to buy more regardless of any signing ban. Which is subject to some kind of boycott from its hoped-for supporters. And which appears, as of today, to not have a manager?

Or John Brown’s rebels? Who have no stadium, no players (yet) but a supposed 7 figure backer who has a rather dodgy CV and a pending court appearance for an assault charge?

  8. It would be fair to say the rest of Scottish football have subsidised Celtic for the past 100 years.

Celtic and Rangers were allowed to dominate despite their continued desperation to join other leagues. The rules were changed for their favour so they could play 4 times per season despite it being to the obvious long term detriment of Scottish football.

If you have fewer and fewer teams with a chance of even minor success, fewer and fewer teams will put in the required money to succeed. In the 60s Dundee & Kilmarnock made the semi of the European Cup, when is the next time even Hearts, Hibs or Aberdeen will reach that far in the competition (don’t laugh at the back)?

Paul67, your attitude is unbelievably self-centred but more importantly, short-term.

By short term, I’m thinking up until the independence referendum. After that, you don’t really care, my guess is.

More teams in Scotland being successful is good for Celtic in the medium to long term.

I go back to the unionist agenda on CQN, never before have the Lisbon Lions (not the Lisbon London-Irish, Lisbon North Brits, Lisbon Leprechauns, Lisbon Shamrocks) memory been so tainted.

Oh, I suppose you don’t like the name Lisbon Lions anyway.

Oh, another thing, we were the 1st and only team from Scotland to win the European Cup.

If Celtic play in England, they’d be finished well within the time it took Murray to demolish Rangers.

Lord I don’t know what to say any more about the quality of this site except that it has diminished. Hysteria from the leading writer – not normally his style at all and a flurry of headless chickens cancelling Sky and ESPN. What exactly has been achieved and just how much do you think senior management at Sky or ESPN will have noticed?

Some calm thought, reflection, clear planning and a solid strategy is what is required. My management philosophy was never to fight battles you can’t win and always remember the 5 p’s rule. Where are the leaders?

  18. Seems now STV are reporting that the SFL will be threatened by an SPL2!

Do the morons feeding this guff to the MSM, on behalf of Dignity, not understand that their bully boy tactics result in having the equal and opposite result of their original objective?

The SFL vote NO to Sevco will be in the bag very soon, if they keep the threats up. A few crazy statements from Green would do the trick!

You’re not an SNP supporter are you?

Sounds like you care more for independence than a successful Celtic team.

What has Scotland done for Celtic in the past 20+ years?.

Systematically cheated us by favouring the huns at every level from the man in the street through the football owners/administrators to the law enforcers and politicians.

If we played in England, we’d have a level playing field (all we’ve ever asked for) and would quickly rise to be a top 5 club down there and, in monetary terms, top 10 in the world.

    Fancy that?

No, not for me. Give me hunland run by huns like Salmond and his cronies.

Have some ambition or perhaps you would prefer to support Clyde or a wee club from wherever you come from?

Again we have unattributed comments from the STV site. There is major kite-flying and the MSM are willing puppets.

  21. There is something puzzling me.

Why would chairmen of Hibs, Aberdeen, Hearts, Dundee Utd, Inverness, St Johstone, Morton, Falkirk, Partick vote for this after supporting their fans views that Sevco5088fc should not get back into the SPL or Div1

They are taking the urine if they think fans will buy into this and accept them in Div1. What really is behind this plan? Is it really just about money? Now the SPL are issuing threat’s (If STV are to be believed) that if they don’t vote for it they will be excluded from any SPL2.

Who exactly is behind that idea of threatening other teams? We need to speak out about this as a club. What is PL & Eric Riley saying at these meeting’s? we really need some communication from the club if we are being railroaded into decision’s aimed at saving one club.

All this MSM guff about relegating rangers is out of order, they’re deed therefore they can’t be relegated, and neither can newco until they get into a league then promoted, only then can they be relegated.
