Gang of 10 plan creates 41 winners and only one loser

983

Q. There will be 12 teams in the SPL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 11.

Q. There will be 30 teams in the SFL next season.  How many do you think stand to gain from the redistribution of income proposed by the Gang of 10?

A. 30.

Although TV and commercial money will be diluted, it is a sideshow compared to the real cash cow remaining in Scottish football, the gate money at Celtic Park.  The Gang of 10 refused to exclude this option from their proposed change in voting rights.

A 20% share of gate money doesn’t have sufficient support from SPL clubs, too many losers.  A 30% gate share only has one loser, everyone else wins, including the club who took 87 fans to a league game at Celtic Park last season.

This is nothing to do with Sevco, who are unlikely to pull a financially viable plan together (although the SPL and SFA are still trying).  You’re being asked to open your wallets and pay for the upkeep of 42 stadiums, squads, boards of directors and kit men.

This is not a viable plan.  It’s time for Scottish football to admit defeat.  Sport has been subverted for over a decade to the point there is nothing left.  We can keep Hampden and the national team going, but there is no viable league structure.  The sooner we accept this and move on the better.

mick67. They have allways been arrogant and believed that only what they say had any value. Now even after being found guilty of tax evasion on a large scale and being liquidated they show no humilty only arrogance. They still think they have power and when you see the footbal authorities pandering to them they are correct it is sad that the football authorities have no integrity or they would have asked for Ogilyvies resignation weeks ago as the man is hunting with the hounds and running with the fox.H.H.

What if the gate money grab is a red herring.

What if there has been no great strategy of silence from Lawell and the board.

What if Celtic were not bothered about the rangers punishment as they wanted the extra cash that generates.

What if the plan was to wait till they were allowed back in to the spl then say “well what could we do, all the other clubs voted them in.”

What if the board were pretty much ok with the relegation for a season punishment then business as usual. Again they can placate the fans by blaming other clubs. They can get us to accept by scaring us about a gate take, that has never actually been declared..?

    Just wondering….

Any proposal to re-jig the leagues would have a major impact on already negotiated sponsorship deals and media coverage.

Also the main inconsistency in all of this is that if the ‘gang of ten’ find that they have the whip hand as a result of the demise of RFC(I/l), why would they work so hard to re-establish them?

My guess is that Media House is briefing like mad (‘oldgold’ on RTC trailed today’s BBC story, many on RTC believe it to be a pseudonym of Media House), why? to draw fire from CW. Equally Bomber, his bizarre outbursts are basically peddling the ‘don’t buy an ST’ previously punted by the cardigan.

The comedy bid from McKenna, without an examination of audited accounts (remember them?), was withdrawn on the basis that, they identified a £30M black hole, add the ‘who owns the ST account?

Why, instead of communicating with employees in a normal, respectful way, did CG, Swally and Jandy threaten with legal action followed by accusations of ‘self-interest’ and exploitation of the situation, making it impossible for players to back down.

Who’s interest is best served by there being no viable football business at Hunstown B?

Who stands to make a pile of readies out of the hunmishambles currently unfolding down Govan way?

    Follow the money!!

Could a membership scheme where you pay for instance £500 which gets you various rights and benefits including the right to buy a season ticket for £50 not be a possibility?

Can’t see why it couldn’t be done and 30% of £50 is only 2.7% of £550.

A summary of this mornings tweets re Brown’s potential backers.

Last night at Ibrox the question was asked “Who is backing you, John?”

John Brown responded “I can’t tell you that, as the media will dig dirt and hound them out.” Really? Why would that be?

The guy who represents Gordon Smith and Miguel Hamutenya is Jonathan Hope. Here are his two clients at signing talks

    http://nfs.stvfiles.com/imagebase/30/605×339/30882-hamutenya-to-trial-with-aberdeen.jpg

Miguel Hamutenya is a 19 year old Namibian footballer who just happens to have a rich dad. That dad paid £50K for a stake in a company.

Miguel never had a hope in hell of obtaining a work permit but that didn’t stop him from having a lengthy trial at RFC overseen by Smith.

Smith who oversaw Miguel’s trial is the same Gordon Smith who turned down a DoF role at Liverpool. Yes Liverpool. http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2012/05/31/3138811/former-rangers-director-gordon-smith-rules-out-liverpool

“Former Rangers director Gordon Smith has formally withdrawn his interest in becoming Liverpool’s new director of football.”

The fantasist who informed us that Gordon wasn’t interested in Liverpool was Jonathan Hope, Co-Director of Millenium Football Management Ltd. Hope who is today promising to put in a seven figure sum into Sevco to back John Brown is co-director of a company with a 19 y.o. Namibian.

Did that 19 y.o. Namibian have to invest £50K in order to be touted around Scottish football. Touted to Smith & Hope’s “friend” Craig Pa Broon?

Jonathan Hope is also allegedly a boxing promoter. His Boxing promotions are heavily involved with Vaughan Boxing. You may know the name. Yes Vaughan Boxing. The Vaughans also have a football history. They were the first to fail the FA’s Fit & Proper test as @twoht will confirm

Now Hope is a fantasist but is a fantasist with connections. Fit and Proper connections though? It is unclear if he is backing Brown. Browns boxing connections are very clear though. If I were a Sevco fan the first thing I would want to know was if they were backing him?

Remember Brown’s words again, “Who is backing you, John?”

“I can’t tell you that, as the media will dig dirt and hound them out.”

So a direct question I would ask of John Brown today is, the following. Are you being backed by Barry Hughes?

And if Jonathan Hope really is backing Brown’s bid what effect will his forthcoming court appearances for Assault to Injury have on his backing?

As Mr Hope has been so vocal on Twitter in the past 24 hours perhaps he can explain why he was charged in Annan JP Court on June 14th ? What were the circumstances which led Mr Hope being charged with Assault to Injury & in does this make him a Fit & Proper person?

Perhaps the former SFA Chief Exec Gordon Smith & client of Jonathan Hope could answer that last question. Is Mr Hope a Fit & Proper Person?

Mr Hope will re-appear in Dumfries JP court on July 17th. Good luck with your bid.

  10. Remember it’s not happened yet and it’s just a proposal. The proposal that was worrying us not so long ago was whether to admin NewTeam into the SPL and look what happened to that.

that is a proposal I thought of as well, but to be honest – I don’t think it would come to that. Seriously – if Celtic forcefully object to handing over their own supporters money – then what really can the other clubs do? How could they justifiably force through a (for example) 30% of gate receipts rule, when there is nothing like that number of away fans at games any more? Legally…. I just can’t see it standing up to any kind of challenge. Celtic is a business, and would be entitled to protect it’s income.

    Wikipedia

    In England

“The top tier of non-League football is the Football Conference, which contains a national division of 24 clubs (Level 5), followed by two divisions at Level 6, covering the north (Conference North) and south (Conference South), with 22 clubs each. Some of these clubs are full-time professional and the others are semi-professional.

Next down from the Football Conference are three regional leagues, each associated with different geographical areas, although some overlap exists. They are the Northern Premier League (which covers the north of England and north Wales), Southern Football League (which covers the Midlands, south and southwest of England, and south Wales) and the Isthmian League (which covers the south east of England). All of the leagues have a Premier Division of 22 teams (Level 7) with two parallel divisions each of 22 teams split by region below (Level 8).”

    ——-

Level 8 attendances (there are10 leagues comprising over 220 teams above this level) are roughly equivalent to SFL 3.

Can you imagine teams at this level influencing league structures and taking a cut of the TV deal and gate monies from Man Ure, Arsenal etc?

We have to get out, we must do everything in our power to get out of Scotland, the debacle surrounding NEWCO/SEVCO and the rush to bend, change, manipulate hell make up the rules to get them as high up the league structure is sickening.

If this comes to pass Celtic must resign and take the legal route, knowing what that will mean, they (SPL/SFA/SFL/NEWCO) cannot be allowed to get away with this

What we are seeing is the policy of greed and the “cash is king” culture of the modern game, let us all not be naive here this is simply about money, the SPL chairmen want the hun pound, the fans dont, the solution proposed lets the SPL off the hook, no vote and pass the buck to the SFL, cowards and blowhards the lot of them.

Season ticket sales in most SPL clubs have increased markedly in the last 7 days when most chairmen came out and stated that they would vote no to newco. Not for a second do i think this has not been their plan, publicly vote note, but get them in the 1st Division toot sweet, with the attraction of reforming the game, all arranged in quiet behind the scenes, i just hope without Celtic’s involvement.

Would anyone welcome us to pastures new? League of Ireland, Belgium, Holland, even one of the Scandinavian leagues, anywhere other than here.

RFCIA have killed our game, they have corrupted it for 20 years and more, yet there ghost is still doing it, absolutely heartily sickened by it all.

  29. I need to ask this: Paul67 where on holiday are you and who is ghosting for you?

Very untypical posts, the last few at any rate.

Previous scare stories have been used to alert not just the Celtic cohorts but the wider Scottish football inhabitants, fans, press, officials etc. and have worked well in flushing out the truth and spiking intended guns.

To my mind however recent articles seem somewhat hysterical and careless.

I’m certain you know much more than most about what is going on and like everyone else I am full of respect for your contribution.

    BUT

It is unmistakable that fans everywhere now have the power (maybe temporary but nonetheless) and they have made one thing absolutely clear: NO FAVOURS TO A NEWCO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. There is no evidence whatever of any fans anywhere taking an alternative view.

I recall, from a couple of weeks ago, the view of many on this site that a Newco would waltz into the SPL because most other clubs & fans were in reality just mini-huns. Well what do you know, they weren’t!

The idea of SFL fans (particularly those hopeful of promotion or restructuring) being prepared to let a Newco into SFL1 must be seen as complete fantasy, as is the belief club chairmen will ignore the fans.

Newco in SFL1 just won’t happen.

Restructuring of itself would be very welcome and I believe the vast majority of fans in Scotland want it even if there is no concensus on what it should look like. It does mean ALL scenario’s should be examined e.g. distribtion of commercial incomes, splits, play-offs, winter breaks etc. etc….and aye, even gate monies. Examining the options does not mean accepting any of them.

While Celtic unilaterally joining another league is silly nonsense I like most others would love to see a European league dimension but until such time Celtic has a duty not only to you and me but to the wider health of football in this country. Not the the last 100 years have Celtic FC been in such a powerful position to affect the outcome for the professional game. They will use it well & it will look nothing like the scary scenario of your leader.

    Regarding holidays.

We got a good deal through Co-operative Travel for an all inclusive week in Menorca, leaving Glasgow on the 20th July. I’ve never been to Menorca before, but by all accounts it is a lot quieter than Majorca or Ibiza. A lot more family orientated.

The beaches are meant to be fine.

We were in Salou last year which was great. The beach looked fine when we wandered down to it from our hotel in the evening. The theme park, Port Aventura is absolutely brilliant for the kids. We got tickets for 14 nights and went 7 times in the evening when the masses were going home. Got on all the rides very easily. There is also the water park in La Pineda, a 10min taxi ride. Brilliant again for the kids. The beach in La Pineda is beautiful.

Not sure if you are being disingenuous with this article to create a sense of wariness amongst the readers. Apologies if so. However, an unsustainable, “unviable” plan that circumvents the accepted principles of the game is not in anyone’s interests, especially the Gang of 10 or “The 41” who are in a much more precarious situation than Celtic. Likewise, any initiative that is truly in the interests of 41 of the 42 senior teams in Scotland should be supported. If it is good for Scottish Football, it is good for Celtic.
