  1. CULTSBHOY – SEES RIGHT THROUGH LAWWELL AND THE BOARD on 24TH AUGUST 2016 10:22 AM

    Aye.

I’ll be delighted if we make 3rd and the Europa League after Christmas.

  2. Always felt Champions League would be a bonus this year with a new manager, new players etc. Would have been happy with Europa League football but now we’re through I’m euphoric.

Not a great performance from us by any means, Hapoel certainly had a better territorial advantage after the second goal but never really troubled us after I felt…(don’t remember thinking this at the time mind you)

Hopefully a couple of quality players in before the window……

(I hope we get Dortmund, Please, please, please!!)

Like many others I was in some state last night. Two walks during game, the last 15 being torture till mate texted at 9.41 to say simply ‘thank f&&k’.

The only other time I’ve been as bad was the Stop 10 game in 98.

So many factors were riding on a result last night and when you add them up, we had one helluva lot to lose.

A 30m jackpot allowing Bendan a chunk of which to build the team he wants.

A ticket for the biggest show in town, where we once again get to prove CP as a special CL experience, enhanced by standing area, with millions watching worldwide.

The demoralisation of Newco, a club who’s dead ancestor tried to do to us illegally, which we now inflict on them, legally.

The biggest giruy possible to a level 5 controlled smsm who’ve never been as anti Celtic as they have been this last four years.

That was one huge result for CFC. Onwards and upwards with BR.

  4. Obviously hoping we get at least one midfielder in before window closes, we need two but don’t think we’ll get two. However given what we currently have would giving Henderson or Ajer a run of games instead of the likes of Bitton and McGregor not be more beneficial in the long term. Ajer in particular looks comfortable on the ball, has a physical presence for one so young and can pass to a teammate. Henderson is more dynamic, closing down opponents but can also pick a pass. His set piece delivery is also a lot better than what we currently have. One of those two, beside Brown and Rogic, with the other on the bench to rotate with the other. Bitton, McGregor, Johansen (who seems to have dropped off the planet) have all been tried over the last couple of seasons and been found lacking in the big European games, time for a change.

  5. I have to agree on Armstrong. He has been given plenty of game time without doing too much.

Main problem for me is his lack of strength. Pushed off the ball far too easily. Also guilty of too many stray passes.

Personally think MacGregor is the better of the two, better final ball and goal threat.

In my opinion Rogic, MacGregor and Armstrong should all be vying for the attacking midfielder slot and we need someone with a bit more physicality who can get his foot on the ball deeper in midfield.

  6. Well done to Celtic and BR.

    Now over to PL.

No excuses. The money id there. Get out there and even if you get screwed give BR at least a couple of the players he wants.

  7. Gary67

You took the abuse you received on here last night with good grace. Hope you got an apology.

  8. Ryan Christie is better than

Armstrong, McGregor and Rogic, in my view

Agree get Henderson and Ajer involved for SPFL games and experience and potential European competition in a season or 2

    Hail Hail

Morning Boys it is good to be in the Champions league but we have to sort out how we can be so good at home but so bad away. Last night many of the players played well below there recent form I dont know if it is nerves or they just dont have the required quality.I dont think throwing money at the problem is he answer I think we should be bringing youngsters through.I do believe Brendan has the luck of the Irish if that had been Ronny we would in my opinion not held out so there is some improvement but if we are to do anything in the CL we need to sort out the away problem in Europe. H.H.+

  11. I’m sure BR will bring in at least two players (central midfield and right back) between now and the end of the window.

What will be most interesting is who goes out. I don’t see any future for Izaguirre, Ambrose, Boyata, Johansen, Commons, Armstrong or Mackay-Steven. Armstrong would be slightly unlucky to go but he is behind Rogic, McGregor and Henderson at this stage.

  12. Have to laugh at that wee icon at the top right hand corner “How are you, Scaniel?” How the feck do you think I am??? Still Buzzing. Asked me the same question last night – total nervous wreck!

Not making excuses – well, OK I am – but watched the replay this morn and the early unnecessary booking for Saidy would have contributed to his struggling performance. And well done, Broony, for lifting him up at the end.

Watched the game in a pub in Dalyan, Turkey. I was sitting with a cool beer at hand but absolutely sweating – literally – such was the heat and humidity.

Ah, Dalyan – Love that place. Go there every year. First 7 years just with Mrs Scaniel, last 3 with all the family. Which bar did you watch the game in? May be going back in September, so your recommendation would be appreciated. Hope you enjoyed your Efes. (Calm down, everyone. It’s a beer and not our infamous CB).

It’s kind of funny in a way to think of the potential candidates , especially recently , who could be accused of being a hun on here,it’s you and Bournesouprecipe that cop it.

  15. The guy in midfield for Beer Sheeva, looked a ringer for Victor Wanyama.Played the game exactly like him also.Nigerian powerhouse.Seen BR having a few words with him after the game.

Ran the show for them last night, and looks a real holding midfielder.Maybe time to get Dudu on the case.Someone saying last night 1.5 million would get him.Seems cheap.

Watched the re-run on Celtic TV,and Janko looked like he had staggered out the pub on a Sunday and was having a game down the park.Atrocious display.I cant remember anyone ever having a sustained nightmare of a game. His barge into Gordon looked like a drunk man.

It’s good to reach the promised land again but by God that was hard going. It would be a struggle to give out many pass marks. Possibly Toure, Sviatchenko and perhaps Lustig. Other than that very poor.

Much improvement needed for this weekends game.

  17. Few thoughts on the day after…

We were poor….but that’s of no significance, qualification is all that mattered.

Craig Gordon saves a penalty but is still lambasted by some. Faithful through and through?

Brendan Rodgers…..just watched the Celtic TV interview…..Class.

As a life long socialist who has visited both Israel and Palestine … I don’t need the GB to define my politics. Love what they do overall for the atmosphere , and some of the banners have been amazing, but the flags at the first leg was a populist stunt.

Only my humble opinion, I respect the right of others to have theirs.

I liked the look of that lad Ogu

I also was very impressed with Soares in the game at Celtic Park

  19. SQUIRE DANAHER on 24TH AUGUST 2016 9:14 AM

Spot on sir . Fabulous that we have reached the top table again , but while there we need to compete ,or try to at that level . I feel we can sweep all before us up here ,( with the MIBS permission of course ) but at this higher level we need to show Celtic can go toe to toe with the big boys . Against Astana . And over the two games with hapoel , we had players in our team ,which the occasion and rise in class was too Much for . First game vs hapoel they caused us problems down the left , mikel great player as he is has neither the speed or the legs now to hold that RB position . Our only other option was saidy ,and we all saw how that turned out . Centre back too at this moment in time is a problem , as we have outstanding talent in Kolo and Eric but a lack of height in central defence , ala first goal . Unlike most on here I don’t think we need a couple of players , I recon we need at least four signings .a couple of quality and a couple of grafters. IMHO we have an abundance of mediocre players who are the quality for the Dundee,s and hearts and hibs . Not for the celts . I only hope this top notch boss we now have is as ruthless as they say he is . If so then we will soon have the team we all want .

  20. Turkeybhoy,

Ogu’s agent sounds like one of boabys days out.

  23. I blame the black strip for last nights lacklustre performance. (OK I don’t really, but I think this needs to be looked into!)

The strip needs to stand out and be easily spotted in a players peripheral vision. Black just does not work. Would love to see some stats on our results over the years when we’ve played in the various black change kits. As “smart” as this one is, it cannot help a player spot a teammate easily. If it couldn’t have been the hoops, the new luminous pink one would have worked a treat last night.

From a psychological point of view it has been proven that a luminous/stand-out colour can intimidate the opponent and it creates the feeling that there are more of them on the pitch.

    Something to think about.

Celtic should have a bright pink strip…

  25. Was a nervous wreck last night, even Mrs RobinBhoy was nearly hiding behind the couch at some points!

On cool reflection today Craig Gordon had an excellent game, everything that came to his hands he held well, even a couple of difficult and deflected crosses were well held and he saved the penalty that never was!

When you watch the replays you can see that Janko is clearly at fault for the second goal, maybe Gordon could have claimed the ball and fell forward on it but he didn’t see Janko coming who was five yards behind the guy that scored when the ball was played in so was running in at speed.

Anyway we were poor but we are there so fabulous!

Mailed you, mate. Seems my trusty user-friendly Nokia is letting me down.

I’ll get it sorted, one way or another. Even if I’ve got to get another one just like it!

My iPhone is a constant pain in the arse because of the battery, should never have been marketed with that issue. My Nokia? Quick hour against the wall and I’m happy for a week!

If there’s an easy way and a hard way, why O why do we have to always take the second option?
