Hibernian 0-5 Celtic

677

A five star performance from Celtic extended their lead at the top of the table to an incredible 17 points as Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper dictated the pace and outcome of the game.   Stokes made sure he got on the end of a Charlie Mulgrew corner on 14 minutes to head the opening goal from inside the six yard box.  Six minutes later it was 0-2 when Hooper collected on the halfway line before playing a forward pass to Stokes.  Stokes advanced into the box before slipping the ball to Hooper, who slipped the ball underneath Graham Stack from 10 yards out.

Hibs first genuine attempt arrived midway through the first half when Adam Matthews failed to deal with a long ball and was robbed by Stevenson but Fraser Forster saved.  Wotherspoon then had a good chance 8 yards out when he met a cross from the left but his attempt went wide.

Celtic should have had a penalty when Anthony Stokes again rushed into the box before cutting back and had his ankles clipped but the referee  waved play-on.

Two minutes after the break Charlie Mulgrew removed any remaining doubt about the result.  Gary Hooper was fouled 23 yards from goal and Mulgrew thundered the resulting free kick into the far corner of the net.

Hooper and Stokes linked again when the former back-heeled for the latter but Graham Stack blocked the shot from 12 yards.  Hooper’s second goal of the game arrived seven minutes into the second half when James Forrest passed to Mulgrew who fed Hooper.  The striker’s shot bobbled over the diving Stack into the net.

A careless back-heel by Kelvin Wilson was collected by Gary O’Connor who crossed for Leigh Griffiths but Forster collected comfortably.  The rout was completed when Stokes fed substitute Kris Commons whose wayward shot struck the knee of Ki and deflected into the net.  Joe Ledley almost made it six when he won a header from a Ki corner but his attempt rebounded off the bar.

So then new story today is that all 3 players who signed new deal when whyte took over belong to one of his other companies and shouldn’t be playing in the spl as they are not registered to der hun. in short all the games they played in are now void. the spl and sfa have alot of questions to answer i think and if it does got to police then who knows were it will go…

Like a whole bunch of Carlos Teveses, only without the tallent or looks. You wouldn’t have thought that possible so soon after that kerfuffle. Hilarious if it turns out to be the case.

  8. Story in the paper this morning about the huns still being desperate to push the Cousin registration through – and apparently he has already taken a cut on his £7,500 a week salary.

Now if you were a creditor would you see this signing as being in your interests? Or would you be asking questions of the administrators?

enjoyed reading about your day out in the Hibs end. Interesting. Would you be afforded the same level of tolerance /acceptance in many other away stands? I doubt it.

  10. Re the Pat Fenlon argument.

I see some on here are asking what was wrong with him playing for Linfield? Well those of you who are Irish will know what the problem is for a self confessed Celtic fan playing for them. Would Tommy Burns have played for Rangers- Not a chance in hell? Tommy had morals and a ton of Hun gold wouldn’t have tempted him to play for them.

Fenlon is as bad as Judas Johnston and deserves all the criticism going his way. As an Irishman and Celtic supporter he must have known about the odious Linfield and their equally odious support. A support that makes the Rangers fans look like school children. Do you think Fenlon went to Linfield on some moral crusade? Fenlon sold his soul for Hun silver – end of story – a Celtic fan me arse as much a Celt as Judas and Pat Nevin.

And anyone who claims that someone who played for N.Ireland can’t be a Celtic supporter need to get a grip. Do you realise what a GIRUY it was to the Orange state when they had to admit their best players were Catholics – Pat Jennings, Gerry Armstrong, Martin O’Neil etc I can remember singing “Gerry Armstrong is a Fenian” along with Cliftonvilles red Army to the Linfiled fans at Windsor Park.

NOTE:Fenlon was despised by Cliftonville fans.

word is still circulating he has been paid up front. This would be the only thing that makes sense I think.

  12. Or would you be desperately trying to put out a positive story, any story, to appease the hun hordes?

  13. more and more stuff coming out all the time, sfa and spl must be complicit in all these lies. i think everything will lead back to them. in terms of registration errors or over sights ; ) blind eyes being turned and european money being paid out when the taxes weren’t being paid. regan has played it down and never condemned der hun which is very strange indeed for a man who is all about honesty and transparency. i think the wee man has joined the ranks as an honery(ahem) member of the (billy) boys club.again gordon smith has not opened his mouth through all this. gutless man and hopeing everyone forgets about him. I think hes a link in the chain. missing link??lol

I had a dream. The same as Dr King.

    Well……

Admittedly, I don’t have the same interest in civil rights in America. I’m more apathetic than activist, more functionary than visionary, more lackadaisical than leader. Apart from that though……

I dreamt of how best to help our poor relations. I’m charitable that way.

How best to market the post liquidation Newco? I have the answer.

    It should be called;

    “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Rangers”

    and the strapline;

“With the same amount of vile sectarianism, toxic, racist bile and mindless thuggery, but with MASSIVELY REDUCED levels of cash!!”

Should I contact their marketing department (otherwise referred to as the janny) do you think?

Wouldn’t want them to miss out.

long time ago, my wife’s (then girlfriend) friend was going out with a guy from Northern Ireland. Eugene was his name. He and I met socially, and I took him to the Hun game at Ibroke. Unfortunately, I only had tickets for the orcs end but we went in anyway. We were taking some abuse naturally, and this was still 30 mins to k.o. To be honest, it was getting a bit hairy. Anyhow, eventually the police intervened and escorted us out and re-sited us in the good ghuys end.

We won 2-0, (I am almost certain) and I remember Murdo McLeod scored one, but my memory is bad. I don’t recall the 2nd. Must have been about 79/80 season. I reckon had we still been in the wrong end, we’d have got a fast track to the nearest hospital.

Anyhow, as we left the ground, we came under attack from a hail of bottles. I remember thinking Eugene will think I am some sort of a headcase, bringing him to this. Anyway, safely back in the pub and he starts telling me all about his team, Cliftonville, and the bitter enemy Linfield. I realised then that the game he had just been to was a rather mild tempered affair!

I often wonder how he is doing. I lost touch when he separated from his girlfriend.

  19. There seems to be an arguably commendable amount of empathy and support being recorded in the main stream media for Rangers manager Ally McCoist; after all the man is under an enormous amount of pressure. He does not know how secure his job or his club is; for him that must be terrible. I would laud all those proclaiming compassionate affinity with Ally but I can’t, because the very same people who are so concerned about the health and well being of McCoist did not once have the courage or the compassion to codemn those who tried to take the life of the Celtic manager, and others.

There is a big difference between losing your job and losing your life as Ally McCoist so graphically explained to the slavering media when he explained the tragedy of the Ibrox disaster and the media again highlighted how caring and thoughtful Ally is.

Pity they can’t think outside their own box though.

With those who tried to kill Neil Lennon, and others, soon to appear in court, I am still waiting for the vast majority of those who are so publicly supportive of Mr. McCoist to show their impartiality and compassion without prejudice, by condemning the vicious acts of those who made Celtic’s manager, and his family and friends too, wish that the most he (Lennon) had to worry about was losing his job.

For the record… I sincerely hope that Ally does not lose his job, ever.

  20. Morning bhoys, came into work still buzzing from the events of the last 48 hours but was brought down to earth with a bang when I realised that the IT team have no put up a series of new firewalls in the office blocking namely BBC web pages and youtube! A lads weekend in Rothesay meant missing the game yesterday and after the state I was in on Saturday I went to bed before Sportscene in hope that I’d catch the game on BBC Sport this morning and also benefit from missing Rob McClean and Pat Nevin spout their usual garbage. This firewall malarkey has really been a spanner in the works so if anyone could provide a link to the highlights that’s NOT on youtube or BBC I’d be eternally grateful.

While on the subject of favours, funnily enough I’m coming from Dunfermline on Weds for the game and as I’m new to the area I have no idea of buses running. Do any of you know of a Dunfermline CSC and whether or not they run buses from here or elsewhere in the Fife/Dunfermline area? Cheers!

  21. Re Cousin

I can now understand why the Administrators would want him in.

    IF

Rangers paid £30k odd in advance (& prior to admin) then effectively he costs the administrators nothing until the value of this weekly wage is exhausted. £7.5/week x 5 weeks = £37.5k

SPL will never allow in any event. He He

  22. did a cop not report Celtic to the eufa official for something similar. were threre no cops to talk to match officials on Saturday , oh i forgot two sets of rules silly me.
