A five star performance from Celtic extended their lead at the top of the table to an incredible 17 points as Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper dictated the pace and outcome of the game. Stokes made sure he got on the end of a Charlie Mulgrew corner on 14 minutes to head the opening goal from inside the six yard box. Six minutes later it was 0-2 when Hooper collected on the halfway line before playing a forward pass to Stokes. Stokes advanced into the box before slipping the ball to Hooper, who slipped the ball underneath Graham Stack from 10 yards out.
Hibs first genuine attempt arrived midway through the first half when Adam Matthews failed to deal with a long ball and was robbed by Stevenson but Fraser Forster saved. Wotherspoon then had a good chance 8 yards out when he met a cross from the left but his attempt went wide.
Celtic should have had a penalty when Anthony Stokes again rushed into the box before cutting back and had his ankles clipped but the referee waved play-on.
Two minutes after the break Charlie Mulgrew removed any remaining doubt about the result. Gary Hooper was fouled 23 yards from goal and Mulgrew thundered the resulting free kick into the far corner of the net.
Hooper and Stokes linked again when the former back-heeled for the latter but Graham Stack blocked the shot from 12 yards. Hooper’s second goal of the game arrived seven minutes into the second half when James Forrest passed to Mulgrew who fed Hooper. The striker’s shot bobbled over the diving Stack into the net.
A careless back-heel by Kelvin Wilson was collected by Gary O’Connor who crossed for Leigh Griffiths but Forster collected comfortably. The rout was completed when Stokes fed substitute Kris Commons whose wayward shot struck the knee of Ki and deflected into the net. Joe Ledley almost made it six when he won a header from a Ki corner but his attempt rebounded off the bar.

Just watching the Alba 1980s series (year 1986) on the iPlayer. Apart from the brief world cup report I only remembered the stories about the royal family. This, along with my recent support for Lizzie’s claiming unpaid taxes, makes me think that I might just be a closet royalist.
It is, I can tell you, a disquieting discovery.
An excellent series it is but there is a common trend in each episode and that is that Maggie didn’t seem welcome anywhere.
Xavi copying Messi copying Larsson I see

That was an unbelievable statement!! mmmmmmmmmmm Naw it wisnae!!
The people setting editorial policy within BBC Scotland Sports department are one enemy we’ve failed to deal with….so far.

Rob McLean`s comments on the sectarian songs being brazenly sung at Ibrox yesterday are completely bizarre especially considering his contribution with Pat Nevin at last year`s Scottish Cup Final.
One other side effect of the huns conceding a goal yesterday, coupled with a clean sheet for Celtic today, means the nuggets in the media cannae spout the “rangers have the best defence in the SPL” crap at every turn.
Still astounded at MacLean’s comments, I give up.

If Celtic had managed 1 more goal today, they would have scored as many as the rest of the 11 other teams in the SPl put together this weekend.
I remember the fanzine ‘Not the View’ used to do a ’20 things you want to know about…..’ feature in each issue.
One edition covered Mixu Paatelainen.
“20 things you want to know about Mixu Paatelainen”
1) Mixu’s dad is also called Paatelainen….(we hope!)

it just happened, there was a conga just before half-time and it turned into the best half time entertainment ever at a Celtic match – the fact that where the Setanta commentary box where they go to at half time caught every bit of it (the noise and signing made it even better!!!) while the experts tried to talk over it – class
today was always going to be a piss take – but it was never going to live up to expectations – although it was good
another thing that just happened, was when we were 3-0 up against them and the whole crowd got in or went with the GB, the JCGE and the Huddle – these things for us just happen and it makes it magic
i dont know what point im trying to make, its just today wasnt as good as was built up to be if you know what i mean
it was good, just not as good as the 2 i mentioned
T4-Bang on the money there mate, our sights should be trained on them. The lack of “diversity” amongst their staff is the way to approach it IMO HH.

re Champs League Qualification…
————————————
Marvellous bit of scoping work their dirtymac, Good to keep track of likely champs league qualifier opponents. I actually think with 1 or 2 more experienced internationals in the squad we can get to last 16 of champs league next year. I know that is a very bold prediction and it is easy to get carried away at the moment, but i think this team are better than the WGS team for European games. However, before all that we’ve got a treble to work on and retaining the talent that we currently have.
It’s great to be a celt!

Just switched on mate, where did that clown say that?Sacking material if true for me.
What happens if Motherwell and the huns tie for second spot and it comes down to goal difference?
Although the huns had 10 points deducted their goal difference figure wasn’t changed.

Re McLean
Can you imagine if someone like Gary Lineker had made that type of comment on Motd to ‘justify’ racism ?
Remember the recent Alan Hansen incident about the use of the word coloured.
If this was national BBC he would be sacked.
I don’t think McLean was excusing the singing at all bhoys. He stated the singing had returned and some of it was aimed at the Referee and maybe here is why and then showing the 3 honest mistakes. He didn’t use words like “understandably” or “you can see why”, seriously I don’t think he was implying anything other than a few refereeing decisions go against Rangers and the old singing returns. He’s a Sheep through and through is McLean.
Did you see those Solar Energy adverts on the LED screens round the pitch? Lovely Green and Orange text on a white background. The guy who got the NTL logo colours changed all those years ago has obviously been made redundant….

Clashcitybhoy says:Great point, time we turned up the heat on that fud MacLean,he has plenty of previous.A retraction would be damaging to Shortbread.
Having watched the huns being denied two legitimate goals, I think we have proof that November 2010 was a watershed moment for CFC. Since the Dougiegate affair, followed by Dallas being bumped, we’ve seen more decisions go against the huns and for us than ever before. Mind you, we’d have to keep this up for another 50 years to even things up.

Re McLean – it will be interesting to see if his comments are still there when the show hits iPlayer tomorrow.
Watching Union v Boca just now, and the ref has paced 10 yards then sprayed the ground with shaving foam, wonder if that would ever catch on in our little country.
