No, what you actually said was “the last 3 City games have shown them tae be a 45 minute side. . . ”
You then specify those 3 particular matches in that one week.
That read to me at the time as you having had your doubts about their ability to keep their often scintillating football up for a whole game before their bad week, with those 3 games confirming your view.
If you’d said what you claimed you had yesterday “I said that for 3 games they only turned up for 45 minutes in each one”, I wouldn’t have argued, as, unlike your original post, that comment clearly limits your criticism to those 3 particular matches.
I’m quite happy to accept that I misunderstood what you meant in your original post, now that you’ve clarified things, but hope you can see how you left yourself open to that misinterpretation.
As you know, they’ve mollocated that league, despite Pep being repeatedly told by journos and pundits that you can’t win the EPL playing like Barcelona, not when you’ve got rainy, windy matches midweek at the likes of Stoke, and frozen Saturday afternoons at places like Burnley.
The fact that they lead in teams scoring in the first 10 minutes, and, with Arsenal and Burnley, in the last 9 minutes of games shows they tend to be able to apply themselves for the duration of the vast majority of their highly entertaining matches.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to spinning fights in the dressing room as being good for team morale, and copying out a new high-level press release about hurrying or you’ll miss out on those gold-dust season tickets.
The Scottish FA is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Maxwell as its new Chief Executive.
Ian Maxwell, 42, will join the Scottish FA at the end of the season from his role as Managing Director of Partick Thistle.
Ian’s career in football began at Hampden as a player with Queen’s Park. Before retiring in 2010, he also played with Ross County, St Johnstone, St Mirren and Partick Thistle.
Following his playing career, Ian moved into management, first as Assistant Manager to Ian McCall at Partick Thistle and then as General Manager with the Firhill club. He was promoted to Managing Director in 2014 and in recent years also served on the boards of the Scottish FA and the SPFL.
Alan McRae, Scottish FA President said: “Ian will bring a huge amount of football knowledge to the role. He has built up a terrific reputation in the industry and is respected across the game.
“Ian emerged from a robust recruitment process which attracted interest from a range of candidates across the UK and beyond. We were convinced that Ian’s track record, communication skills and leadership qualities will allow him to grasp the challenges of today and fulfil our potential as an association and as a footballing nation in the future.”
Ian Maxwell said: “This is a very proud moment for myself and my family.
“Scottish football has been my life, from playing to coaching and on to managing a club. I am hugely excited about the role and facing into the big issues that we will need to tackle.
“The game means so much, to so many in this country. I will work tirelessly to serve all our members, support and lead the Scottish FA’s staff and help bring everyone together to shape a better future for Scottish football.”
Ian will start his new role at Hampden Park on 21 May.

Re Maxwell’s appointment:
What we didn’t want was another with the Regan profile. ie not a football man. Not a Scottish football man and certainly not someone who will do as he is told as opposed to what he believes is right.
Someone supporters can trust to handle the SFA Comp Off investigation correctly.
Whilst a case of “we’ll see” his appointment provides a real opportunity to restore trust in the governance of Scottish football .
Lets hope it is not spurned.

I see a small glimmer of hope with this appointment…then again I don’t actually have much to base such optimism on…
Interesting noting that Pog has heard that the CO report has been sitting on the desk for a while and will continue to collect dust until 21st May. That’s two days after the Cup final – so the SFA will definitely try to bury the news (whether it be bad or good) during the close season. I’m still pretty sure that 30th May is a very good day for it from the SFA perspective – a day after what is bound to be a bit of a debacle in Lima…
However, if the new guy continues with practice of burying bad news, that does not bode that well…

Finally, a wee birdie told me last night that the Compliance Officer’s report has been compiled and is sitting on the CEO’s desk awaiting action and has been sitting there since before Regan left! Important for Celtic to exert any influence they have and ensure that the right man fills the post and not one of Petrie’s puppets.

Auldheid,
What I’d think we need is someone with Honesty and Integrity, and not someone who will do as he is told as opposed to what he believes is right……….whether he/she is from outside Scottish Football or not.
To be honest, an outsider with no ties to any team, and no preconceived ideas about what to expect might have been preferable, rather than someone with already formed opinions on what has gone on before now.
Judgement reserved for now, because I don’t know anything about the man, but first impressions don’t fill me full of hope.
I’m led to believe that Petrie and Co were opposed to Ian Maxwell’s appointment – so here’s hoping for a brighter future for Scottish football. Bring some integrity back into a game that is badly needing that quality.

No matter what the background of the new CEO of the SFA is, and we now know that its Iain Murray, unless one of his first actions in office has to be the setting up of the “full independent review” of the organization’s handling of the Rangers demise in 2012 and the years since, as requested by the SPFL.
If that doesn’t happen then he will be seen as another yes man in the perceived on-going cover up at the SFA and we will never “move on” as those at the SFA and certain clubs keep saying they want.
The fact that he was one of those praised by Peter Lawwell in a recent interview, and was not wanted as CEO by Petrie and McCrae is hopefully a positive sign.
If this was a normal football country with impartial media portals the first legitimate question asked of Maxwell would be about a judicial review into the mishandling of Rainjurz and their demise towards liquidation.
We all know there will be no such question put near Ian Maxwell and neither will he be asked what part in Stewart Regan’s resignation that smoking gun played.
Whether there is some form of brand new neutrality in general governance of the game in Scotland remains to be seen, and even if there was that aim, how does the Association overcome the potential sins of the past unless they are seen to be addressed openly in public.

Season ticket sales must be off to a slow start at Ibrox, this morning’s moonbeams in the press are the signings of Scott Arfield from Burnley and James MacArthur from Palace.
Not really convinced by Scott Sinclair’s form or his assist for the Eddy goal and hope BR changes the Celtic format for the two important games that are left this season, the clincher and the cup final.
Its been clear that Sinky’s role ,wide left onto right foot hasn’t worked all season consistently, not sure either why Ntcham was withdrawn to allow Scott to persist at Easter Rd. James Forrest’s best season has to finish with a flourish and somehow ‘the fan’ may not be convinced it will, in these two massive games.
His ‘deputy’ Patrick Roberts is running out of games to get up to speed and in big games which they all are now, he’ll find himself like he did on Saturday with three men directly around him, when he’s on the ball in a wide position.
We need to tweak the system to attain immortality beyond the invincibility of last season, and we have the squad to do it, including picking the most reliable CB’s we possess?
Be a shame on the evidence we’ve seen if Hibs or Aberdeen don’t snatch those much coveted Euro Qualifying positions ‘ ahead of the curve ’ the provincial clubs deserve the cash, previously stolen form them.

– The new shirt is manky
– That defeat to HIbs has been in the post for a while
– Can’t believe Rodgers singled out Rogic for praise. He is a luxury player that we can afford against dross like Sevco but not a decent Hibs side
– Team probably needs freshening up. Competing for trebles year after years and all the games in Europe add up.
– We could be losing Rogic, Dembele, Armstrong, Roberts and Edouard whether we like it or not. We’ll need to be busy this summer.
