The only thing that’s floating at the big blue midden is fat swally’s back teeth.

Any sign of Bomber ‘yesterday’s Martin Luther today’ Brown?

Mike Astley is going to buy 10%…10% of what? there’s no accounts, no plan, no certainty that there’ll even be a big blue midden next month.

I dont want the London Road Primary School to be allowed to be demolished.

This is the last remaining building that was there very near the beginning of the stadium. Everything else is gone. No railway line, no bridge. No Forge, No Parkhead Station. No tenament on London road or Springfield. No barrels. No Butter factory. No Janefield street ugly 60’s blocks.

I vote to keep the school. And keep its iconic status in hundreds of pictures .

why cant it be a casino ?

or better still a Du Vin hotel ?

  5. In another madcap rush of the blood to what purports to be a brain, I camped down and around Africa a while back. I got some great stuff on Bloemfontein Celtic, visited the ground and surrounding township, was shown round by people who made me cry and if I didn’t come back a better person I sure as hell knew where my faults lay.

Anyway for about a week I was put up by Bill MCIntosh of the Jo’burg CSC in his home and was welcomed into his family as if I we had known each other for years. I had only met him that day and had known him through a couple of emails for no more than a week.

I had a great time with the CSC itself and they inspired me to have the confidence to hit the wider continent.

Sadly I never got to see the team playing but Bill promised to send me pictures of their visit to a game. Here they are ……magic!

I empathise more than you know.

On my occasional rambles I notice the absence of what I used to regard as comforting landmarks. The ground and its environs are magnificent now but as a wean the sights, sounds and feel still echo and project themselves into a wee forgotten shiver.

Progress and change is unstoppable and sometimes I now wonder if much of what I remember is real,or if even much of what I am was and is real.

Today and yesterday at the ground I looked over at the velodrome, at the towering architecture of the ground and then went and leaned against the wall and railings of the school.

I was part again of the 4 am Sunday morning queue to get tickets for the next big European cup game. I could see the railway line and those who had already been through the turnstiles standing in triumph waving their four or six tickets or whatever.

Once the school goes….all that’s left is a memory that becomes more sepia tinted by the year. Once the school goes I suppose It will be time for new memories for new support and in years to come, new regrets for those whose memories are intertwined with Brother Walfrid, Big Man and Jinky Statues.

Once the school goes……well …..I don’t know what it will be like. I don’t really want it to go either.

Mind you if the stories are true, it might be like me and about to fall down!

    Hail hail

every building, even just the front, can be saved.

down here in the Port , there is not a single wall left from the entrances of what used to be 4 miles of shipyards. I tell my nephews we used to build ships here.

    They havnt a clue.

The school for me is the landmark.

The stadium allthough in the same place (which is great and appreciated) doesnt retain any single architechural reference to the past. I aint no stuck in the past anti progress guy.

However something needs to remain. The point of reference is not a plaque or a statue. It needs to be something that was there , and is allways there.

Whats wrong, other than maybe cost, with keeping that building and turning it into something great.

Glasgow was allways Green and White. The Edwardian east end was built by the Irish.

    Lets save the school.

  12. On the bus coming home from work tonight I heard the dude Mark Wotte on Clyde and he is the SFA’s answer.

A little bird told me that Wotte, after he visited Celtic, was so impressed by Martin Miller and what he is doing there at Youth level that he has insisted on using the methods Celtic are using throughout the SFA’s systems.

I found it a bit odd that he never mentioned this during the phone in and gave minimal praise in Celtic’s direction.

The Future is getting brighter by the day now the hun scum are gone, and they are gone.

Fantastic pics of the old stadium. I seem to recall reading somewhere that it was the cycling that attracted the largest crowds to the ground in the early 20 th century. Looked like they had a banked track as well. With the new velodrome now across the road perhaps we can say that cycling is coming home.

If my map reading is right, unlikely, would the old stadium be on the sight of the irn bru factory?

  14. St stivs, the school is part of our heritage, mind standing outside so ma granda new wer to get me and brother when he catched a pint.totaly agree.hh

Apologies if I was abrupt earlier. I guess I don’t want such stories to be true because I don’t want to live in a country that would do it. Ha. You know what I mean. From your posts before, I think we’re on the same page on a lot of things.

Thank you for the reply. If the snp get in bed with this gang of millionaire fascist tories then ther stock will plummet even further and faster than the conDems ( a lying bunch who are enabling the Cons in this hideous ConDem coalition and thereby conDemning themselves to the dustbin of history).

    HH!

  18. As one part of the world finally succumbs to weariness, I am sure that many places are bounding out of bed, their brains refreshed and a million ideas for doing something creative.

I’ve met some of these people. Men and women who inspire, encourage and shed light on the world of opportunities, ambition, love and art that lie within us.

Some of them capture a million moments of spiritual wonder and celestial magnificence in a few well chosen, heart pounding words. These people are real musicians, real scribes and real poets.

In one little settlement just a few kangaroo hops from Three Ways in the middle of Oz I came across such a man.

We talked long and liltinglyabout hardship, laughter, the Gods and the devils that we encounter every day. As I was leaving he left me with a little sketch and a few words that will live with me for ever as they captured the soul of Australia.

Tonight I share them with you…..

Aye, but that was a conventional thread where the posts whizzed by. Without a new article in the last day this is a real podium chase. ;)

  20. Sixteen roads to Golgotha on

There will be another 1888 one coming up soon by the looks of things.(unless Paul67 posts a new article)

I will let yous fight it out for the 1888,i am happy enough getting the 1847 one.

Bobby Murdoch – There is too much cheating going on with regards to the podiums, that’s why they don’t mean anything – they are the CQN equivalent of a Zombie Co league title.
