CELTIC have made a reported bid for Israeli striker Shon Weissman.

The prolific frontman, who has netted 37 goals in 40 games for Wolfsberger, is wanted by the nine-in-a-row champions, according to the Austrian Bundesliga side’s president.

Dietmar Riegler, the club’s chief, confirmed the Hoops had made an offer for the 24-year-old forward.

Speaking of Weissman, the Austrian club’s supremo told local journal Kleine Zeitung: “As you already know, he wants to go to Germany or England.

“But we’ve not yet had any inquiries from there.

“Offers have come, amongst others, from Russia and Scotland, from Glasgow Celtic.

“Because of the corona crisis, everything is different this year. The seasons in Germany have now ended.

“The clubs know where they will play in the coming season. I think the next few days will be interesting for Shon.”

Neil Lennon has already brought Israeli international stars Nir Bitton, for £700,000 from Ashdod in 2013, and Hatem Abd Elhamed, at £1.6million from Hapoel Be’er Sheva last year, to the Hoops and has good contacts within the country’s scouting network.

He also signed Beram Kayal, from Maccabi Haifa, in his first time around as manager in 2010. The midfielder was allowed to move to Brighton by Ronny Deila five years later.
