Horrible damage inflicted by requisitioners

641

The actions of the Sevco Requisitioners in undermining Newco Rangers made no sense.   They invoked an almighty schism, one which will forevermore deny the emerging club from a potentially rich seam of support.  An act of such potential vandalism would surely not be undertaken unless they had a plan to deliver the necessary votes?

Turns out they didn’t have a plan after all.  Some Oldco Rangers fans put their money on the table but their face didn’t fit.  As a consequence, another group of Oldco Rangers fans overtly and covertly campaigned against them, but refused to put cash on the table.

Say what you like about the Easdales, they paid their money fair and square (and any debts to society, for those who like to go digging in the past).  The embryonic club will develop in their image, it will stand or fall on their judgement.  After coughing up, they endured incredibly manipulative pressures.  They don’t strike me as natural underdogs but on this occasion they were.  They resisted and I’m pleased for them.  If you want to buy a club, walk in the front door with your cash, don’t try to drive the price down by trashing the club and invoking an insurrection.

Paul Murray deserves a special mention in this whole process.  When Charles Green was pulling a deal together to buy the liquidated assets of Rangers, Murray campaigned against him, and all others who were prepared to put money on the table.  As a consequence, Green was up against it from day one.

Instead of addressing Rangers fans as the man who ensured football would continue at Ibrox, Charlie was painted as a pantomime villain.  Without this act of vandalism, he would have been able to sell 30,000 season tickets at full price.  He could also have chased everyone earning over £50k per annum off the premises, ensuring Newco launched profitably, with a strong fan base.

Today, Newco would have money in the bank and be laying the foundations necessary for top flight football.  No ‘legend’ would have been able to hold them to ransom in return for £800k p.a.  Instead, Green, with £5.5m and untold more from his consortium in the game, was put in a horrible situation.  As a consequence, he overpromised and under-delivered.

Having done all this, Murray turned on the Easdales, still without the money to get the job done.  It is utterly unfathomable.

The MSM constantly tell us all that Sevco 2012 are banned from Europe for 3yrs .

Can any of them tell us all ,what Sevco 2012 did to receive a 3yr Euro ban as Sevco 2012 have never played a single game in Europe ?

Before this agreement at the beginning of August 2012 – Sevco Scotland had already played Brechin in the Ramsden’s Cup.

    ————————————————————————————-

If Sevco played Brechin before Rangers share transferred to Sevco, does this mean that the Sevco team that took the field that day were actually “Rangers” players? Sounds like old Sandy might be needed again……

I would think the SFA would rather Sevco 2012 never made it to the SC final to save them from bastardising our disgraced game at Euro level .

Then again I am sure S Bryson will be on hand just in case .

Gave you a follow on twitter, it’s about time the fans of all the other clubs pulled together, I know a lot of Dons fans (be stuck up in the NE) who are well and truly pissed aff about this whole thing as they were robbed of the success they had/might have had, had the re-arrangers not started their cheating…

I was talking with a couple of guys from KPMG, they claimed that they wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out that D. Murray still has some sort of interest at Asbestos Park. They are aware of the mess of things over there, and claimed someone nicknamed a ‘Weasel’ is under investigation for serious fraud, they wouldn’t give the name.

Its all about opinions and you may be correct with your well constructed post, however the Atlantic league is still a figment of the imagination whereas the EPL is reality.

I think if the status quo remains its going to get much harder to gain entry to the CL and its certainly not going to be guaranteed every year. We just made it this year.

I think its unsustainable that teams like Southampton and Norwich can take our players with impunity, but ultimately we could do nothing they wanted to go.

If we are to remain here I totally agree with you, we must find a way to attract a couple of quality signings rather than seemingly endless projects.

IMO, One thing we can and must do is develop and play our youth. I can’t understand why our local young players are continually overlooked in favour of copious amounts of foreign projects, particularly in the striker dept. Bring back Barrowfield!!!

We have training facilities to match the best. I still maintain that generally our fitness levels are not on a par with the better sides. One example being Kris Commons looking fit and sharp domestically, but unfit and possibly over weight for Europe.

On another happier note, Celtic replacing toys and gifts stolen from a children’s nursery helps remind me of who we are and where we come from and why we are more than a club. The monetary value may no be much in the big picture but it warms the heart.

  18. Very good article Paul.

Makes you realise just how fortunate we were to have a higher calibre of would-be saviour in 1994. Fergus, Keane, and the succession of sober, wealthy, successful men that followed stand in stark contrast to the spivs, wide-ohs, and butchers, bakers, and candlestick makers who have hovered over Ibrox these last few years.

I do wonder if it’s a cultural thing. When you are given everything on a plate, when you don’t have to work for favours or breaks from authority, when you are used to carrying the debate… it makes you flabbly and lazy and unable to react when disaster strikes.
