Horrible damage inflicted by requisitioners

641

The actions of the Sevco Requisitioners in undermining Newco Rangers made no sense.   They invoked an almighty schism, one which will forevermore deny the emerging club from a potentially rich seam of support.  An act of such potential vandalism would surely not be undertaken unless they had a plan to deliver the necessary votes?

Turns out they didn’t have a plan after all.  Some Oldco Rangers fans put their money on the table but their face didn’t fit.  As a consequence, another group of Oldco Rangers fans overtly and covertly campaigned against them, but refused to put cash on the table.

Say what you like about the Easdales, they paid their money fair and square (and any debts to society, for those who like to go digging in the past).  The embryonic club will develop in their image, it will stand or fall on their judgement.  After coughing up, they endured incredibly manipulative pressures.  They don’t strike me as natural underdogs but on this occasion they were.  They resisted and I’m pleased for them.  If you want to buy a club, walk in the front door with your cash, don’t try to drive the price down by trashing the club and invoking an insurrection.

Paul Murray deserves a special mention in this whole process.  When Charles Green was pulling a deal together to buy the liquidated assets of Rangers, Murray campaigned against him, and all others who were prepared to put money on the table.  As a consequence, Green was up against it from day one.

Instead of addressing Rangers fans as the man who ensured football would continue at Ibrox, Charlie was painted as a pantomime villain.  Without this act of vandalism, he would have been able to sell 30,000 season tickets at full price.  He could also have chased everyone earning over £50k per annum off the premises, ensuring Newco launched profitably, with a strong fan base.

Today, Newco would have money in the bank and be laying the foundations necessary for top flight football.  No ‘legend’ would have been able to hold them to ransom in return for £800k p.a.  Instead, Green, with £5.5m and untold more from his consortium in the game, was put in a horrible situation.  As a consequence, he overpromised and under-delivered.

Having done all this, Murray turned on the Easdales, still without the money to get the job done.  It is utterly unfathomable.

“If Sevco played Brechin before Rangers share transferred to Sevco, does this mean that the Sevco team that took the field that day were actually “Rangers” players? Sounds like old Sandy might be needed again…

Well that’s a very good point, the players that agreed to transfer their registration and contracts to Charles Green’s consortium would obviously be Sevco Scotland players, the players that they wanted to sign played as trialists i.e. Ian Black – Can trialists play in challenge Cup competitions?

Of course, Charles Green reffered to his Team as Rangers but you will notice they wore white stockings and no stars at the time and RFCia had the SPL share (which was later transfered to Dundee) and SFA membership.

Possibly the most interesting thing – if you go the Scottish Football Leagues official review of the fixture, go to the bottom of the page and select “squad” you will see NO players are listed……

    http://spfl.co.uk/challenge-cup/fixture/3539185/

Which begs the question were ANY of these players officially registered…..

From UTV news – they are getting worse almost every away game they protest at the mere presence of taigs in their area – refuse to call us Fenians anymore because they worked out it means warrior apparently !!!!

The chairman of Ards Football Club has condemned sectarian chanting during his club’s Irish League Cup loss to Cliftonville and said those involved will be banned.

During the game at Clandeboye Park, a number of people in the home end were heard chanting sectarian songs.

According to Ards FC, it happened after someone appeared in the away supporters’ stand dressed as the Pope and the Cliftonville supporters sang ‘Happy Birthday’.

However, others have said the chanting began immediately after the kick off.

Ards chairman Brian Adams condemned the incident.

He said: “This was a small handful of idiots – maybe about 10 people at most.

“They are not football fans and certainly not Ards’ supporters and they will be banned.”

He added: “This is disappointing because we have a very good relationship with Cliftonville.

“When we lost Castlereagh Park, it was Cliftonville who helped us out with a ground and there has always been a very good relationship between the two clubs and the fans.

“We work hard to create a better league and improve the domestic game and there is just a handful of idiots determined to ruin that work.”

Following the game, the club said it held its supporters in the ground until the Cliftonville fans had left to disperse any tension which may have remained.

However, one of the buses used to transport the Cliftonville support was attacked and a window damaged.

Brian added: “There were people who had gathered outside the ground, which we had heard about before the game and had contacted the police about and there was an increased PSNI presence outside of the ground.

“Unfortunately one of the buses was damaged after the game and the PSNI is investigating the incident.”

The Northern Ireland Football League said it was waiting on the officials’ match report before it could decide on a course of action.

Police say they received a report of a bus being damaged following the football match and enquiries are continuing.

Cliftonville did not comment on the matter.

I guess that’s true – from an employment point of view at least. But in terms of player registrations (as held by the SFA) they could surely only have been “Rangers” players as Sevco wasn’t a team at that point.

    1. David Murray would go to jail

    2. Campbell Ogilvie would probably go to jail

“I guess that’s true – from an employment point of view at least. But in terms of player registrations (as held by the SFA) they could surely only have been “Rangers” players as Sevco wasn’t a team at that point”

Well the point is who knows what was happening in real terms – officially….

at this time Rangers FC were a Club who were members of the SPL and Full members of the SFA.

Now Sevco Scotland were members of the SFL.

Now if Club joins an affiliated League they get registered membership of the SFA.

So Sevco and Rangers were two separate, contemporaneous Clubs.

Now Sevco’s problem is, within two weeks of getting registered membership a Club must apply to the SFA for associate membership.

Now the SFA had made it clear that if Sevco applied for this their application would be rejected as they didn’t have the credentials for membership.

That scenario asks many more questions than it answers…

As registered members of the SFA were Sevco players registered for the Brechin game, or was it the Ibrox Celeste – a Club with no players?

If Sevco did not have the necessary credentials for associate membership at that stage, how come the SFA were insisting they go for Rangers FULL membership, full membership normally comes 5 years after associate membership is granted.

It seems that Charles Green was quite happy to register and run Sevco Scotland as a new Club, as Paul67 says in his lead, he could cut the overheads extensively if he didn’t have to pretend he was Oldco.

He even went to Court to argue that Sevco weren’t Oldco and should Not be subject to the transfer embargo.

The SFA refused to accept this or register their new players though.

Seems to me that there was a movement within the SFA &/or pressure from outside to make sure Charles Green took Rangers SFA membership to extend the myth that Rangers didn’t die.

    Hail Hail
