Horrible damage inflicted by requisitioners

641

The actions of the Sevco Requisitioners in undermining Newco Rangers made no sense.   They invoked an almighty schism, one which will forevermore deny the emerging club from a potentially rich seam of support.  An act of such potential vandalism would surely not be undertaken unless they had a plan to deliver the necessary votes?

Turns out they didn’t have a plan after all.  Some Oldco Rangers fans put their money on the table but their face didn’t fit.  As a consequence, another group of Oldco Rangers fans overtly and covertly campaigned against them, but refused to put cash on the table.

Say what you like about the Easdales, they paid their money fair and square (and any debts to society, for those who like to go digging in the past).  The embryonic club will develop in their image, it will stand or fall on their judgement.  After coughing up, they endured incredibly manipulative pressures.  They don’t strike me as natural underdogs but on this occasion they were.  They resisted and I’m pleased for them.  If you want to buy a club, walk in the front door with your cash, don’t try to drive the price down by trashing the club and invoking an insurrection.

Paul Murray deserves a special mention in this whole process.  When Charles Green was pulling a deal together to buy the liquidated assets of Rangers, Murray campaigned against him, and all others who were prepared to put money on the table.  As a consequence, Green was up against it from day one.

Instead of addressing Rangers fans as the man who ensured football would continue at Ibrox, Charlie was painted as a pantomime villain.  Without this act of vandalism, he would have been able to sell 30,000 season tickets at full price.  He could also have chased everyone earning over £50k per annum off the premises, ensuring Newco launched profitably, with a strong fan base.

Today, Newco would have money in the bank and be laying the foundations necessary for top flight football.  No ‘legend’ would have been able to hold them to ransom in return for £800k p.a.  Instead, Green, with £5.5m and untold more from his consortium in the game, was put in a horrible situation.  As a consequence, he overpromised and under-delivered.

Having done all this, Murray turned on the Easdales, still without the money to get the job done.  It is utterly unfathomable.

Tony, in reply to an earlier post, I said a few weeks ago that:

    They know liquidation mean death.

    We know it.

The dogs in the street know it.

For them to speak the truth would be would be an admission that they have lost the 100 years war, to us.

  8. My friends in Celtic,

I cannot endorse the concept of banning the DR, indeed any newspaper or media outlet from Celtic.

Two arrests were made, one being a murderwell fan so the story is factually correct.

To me this is lazy policing and this is where the concern should lie. People could have been hurt and property saved if the Police had acted.

Indeed some might even say the police were complicit in the damage by doing nothing. Guilty by association. I am in no way condoning the acts of thugs who should be brought to task, but as previous eminent posters such as HT have outlined the police did not intervene to prevent trouble.

Just as CQN was originated to combat lazy journalism some workable mechanism ( not the police complaints authority ) should be in place to counter lazy policing. i.e. sit back, do nothing but film and observe and follow it up with dawn raids.

Is this government policy and associated with the odious OB act.? who knows.?

Regards banning newspapers, a few points:-

    1) It is largely self defeating, counter productive and does not usually work.

    2) The wall has come down, totalitarianism has gone and free speech ( Within reason ) must be allowed.

    3) The internet will eventually do the job, no need for banning.

    4) Whether we like it or not “Working class” tabloids such as the Sun, the Star and the DR will be the option for most people. Newspapers such as the Guardian attract a particular clientele. Indeed the grammar tone that publications employ, expressed on a numeric scale will confirm this.

    5) Mrs Greenpinata reads the DR.

    Just my opinions of course.

Can’t say I’m too excited by today’s AGM down Ibrox way. As somebody said earlier it’s like a sitcom. I agree- started off like the first series of Fawlty Towers but recent episodes more like the latest series of Two and a Half Men. Unfunny, crude , boring and needing to be put out of its misery.

I’d imagine though that if it literally doesn’t come to heads nailed to the tables the MSM will hail ‘peace breaks out at Ibrox’. Which it won’t be at all.

Still if heads are nailed to the tables and a big cartoon Craig Whyte appears shouting ‘Easdale!’ I might smile.

  15. Good morning all, been lurking a we bit more often lately, lovely morning over the Farthing Downs clear sky and a wee bit of frost.

Looking at the comments over the past week or so especially regarding the behaviour of some of our fans and the way the club is run by the present board are we in danger of replicating the behaviour of the msm and amplifying certain situations out of all proportion!

Yes I agree violence and damage are not to be condoned but it is a rare thing with Celtic that we may be in danger of over reacting, just a thought really

This first AGM in the graveyard this morning, will it really amount to much and will we really find out what happened as I believe that if any real bad stuff occurs it may be a few days before it all seeps out.

I do hope NFL signs a few strikers when he is in Holland we do need them.

    God bless. HH

  16. Greentinata

Good post, banning them will do no good, crept. In Keevense’s case he was banned for his own good, and he is growing more toxic by the day, his spin and utter tripe is now becoming personnel, I would tread very careful if I was him, saying that Lennon threw the game two weeks ago in Barca. to was bordering on a law suit, but Celtic rightly or wrongly, didn’t give it any oxygen , well so far anyway.

A good start would be to charge the press for entry to our stadium.

They take up almost an entire section at the back of the main stand, these are prime seats on the halfway line. Not to mention the complimentary buffet supplied by the club.

  21. Just in to say….

I think todays events at ibrokes which seem to be occupying the mindsets of timdom, are yet another case were – as my Da wid say tae me – “….ye just don’t listen !”

Ye see…ma Da is one of these tims who has seen the ‘best’ Cellic team ever and, ye know what…I’d say that there is a bit of the Mr Stein’s aboot him – in terms of savvy. imo

So, to cut a long story short…I think that the Cellic support must be big / brave / honest enough to realize that….the ‘biggest’ demons to be faced here….are within the club in the shape of the PLC ‘bored’.

I just don’t understand when I read on here that – the ‘bored’ should do this….the ‘bored’ should do that…please, please, please let the penny drop that – the ‘bored’ don’t give a feck what YOU want, or think…all they want is yer money !!! imo.

Has it ever occurred to any of you that…when the establishment can see that, the Celtic ‘bored’ treat the Celtic fans as doormats and, ye keep coming back for more….then why should the establishment who ‘hate’ everything associated with yeez, take yeez seriously and give yeez respect when, yeez don’t even respect yerselves ?

Yeez have been taken-in by the Celtic ‘bored’ who, despite what anyone says on here or, elsewhere….are in bed with the establishment !!!

If the Celtic support don’t grow a pair and get the feckin ‘bored’ oot…then what comes at yeez from the other end of the city….will be awe yer ain faults for not tooling-up. imo

    Dont say yeez wurny telt.
