The rule is a hand ball stopping the ball from entering the goal is a penalty and a red card.

In your example you say the ref didn’t give a penalty so your question makes no sense.

Yes, that’s Lizzie who is the real star here. Wouldn’t have given tu’upence for her chances when she arrived 6 days before Xmas. She has been a superb Mum so far, although she can’t keep up with the wee yin.

A sending off for a goal-preventing hand ball wasn’t a red card back then.

Also, when Johnstone handled the ball, his two knees were between the ball and the goal, which begs the question — why do it?

I believe he panicked and was trying to gain control of the ball in a dangerous area rather than stopping it from going over the line.

    ……………

Cheers for your info that ” BACK THEN” it was NOT a SENDING AFF Offence ( 1977 ).

i also think that you are correct in saying that Derek Johnstone PANICKED, as surely he could have Blocked the Ball from crossing the goal line with his KNEES….Rather than using TWO Hands…?

    LOL.

I just asking if the rule you stated came into effect after the 16th March ?

That seems a fairly straightforward question but I’ll leave it there. The day is yet young. Have a good one.

1,800 unoccupied seats officially rvrn with sold out signs up.

and then there are the no shows,

  6. Nae bother , sky will be wheeling out Dermot Gallagher to refsplain why each decision was made , and why the ones that favoured rangers was correct and why the ones that went against them were wrong …

“The rule is a hand ball stopping the ball from entering the goal is a penalty and a red card.”

    Is it ANY handball though?

Or only a handball as specified for anywhere else on the pitch including the whole “natural position” / “making the body bigger” ambiguity. If that comes into play for a handball on the line as with all other hand balls that don’t prevent a goal then that is the only defence I could see the SFA hiding behind for why sevco were awarded a pen and we were not for very similar looking incidents?!

Still think both should be or neither should be pens.

Still worth Celtic/SFA clarifying publicly for all concerned I think. Can clubs ask for VAR audio for other games to compare and contrast conversations around such decisions?

“Shankland deliberate hand ball in the box,no 2nd yellow”

Somehow I saw it in my temporary seat at the other end of the ground in 419 (as did most around me) yet the ref missed it from yards away. Hmmmm.

Can’t then be given as the ref can only give a yellow if he sees it; not after seeing it on VAR I believe. Though he can give a yellow if he chooses to downgrade a red awarded after a VAR review?! Not at all inconsistent.

    The rules are a mess.

Quad – I saw it clear as day – conclusion- Clancy saw it – new it would be awarded by VAR ( or not) – evaded both the decision and the second yellow- job done.

Was it not a red card on Forest in the first half. Same high boot as Yang at Tynecastle.

I had hoped Paul67 would have addressed the recent VAR Review Panel, (which ‘ruled’ that the Hearts penalty at Tynecastle should not have been given, and neither should the Celtic one for the sake of ‘balance’) but that was a forlorn hope given that our host was one of VAR’s cheerleaders. The panel did not ‘rule’ on the Yang, yellow card/red card decision, so must have thought it correct, so why not the similar high challenge near Forrest?

Answer, Jamesie was wearing green and white

    We’ve been mis-sold PPI! 😳🤷🏼‍♂️

  13. Last week we had the Dundee midfielder wiping out Calum after he miscontrolled the ball , this week we had Shankland wet his panties when one of our lhads flicked on a header and he instinctively put out his hand to punch the ball, it happens sometimes.

2 examples where idiotic unprofessional acts should have been punished by the ref.

The new ref boss has his work cut out , but for me the old guard refs Clancy , McClean and Beaton should be retired or moved down the leagues.

VAR for next season needs to be outsourced out of Scotland, and this will be the first step towards having non Scottish refs , as part of a wider drive towards a better offering on the pitch,

HT 0:0 dreadful game no shots on target aff to watch the snooker. BTW what do the host teams do to make the plastic carpets look so awful? Airdrie, Livingston, Kilmarnock all look terrible…

Yet another for the Watch list….

To be honest Bada, they’re all for the watching. They don’t get to the level of refingf SPFL games unless they’ve shown the requisite handshake skills, commitment to aid the Huns, and the unique skill set that Phil Mac alludes to in his latest article.

Shocking to think how successful we’d be if all teams/games were refereed to the same standard.
