“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers” screams the BBC headline ahead of this evening’s interview by Chris McLaughlin of the Last King of Rangers, Our Hero, Craig Whyte. Whyte has retained private contact with a couple of journalists but he has previously declined earnest requests to go on the record given the level of investigation he is under. The wrong word could be costly.
But here it is, “I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”. An unequivocal assertion.
The interview will be broadcast on Reporting Scotland and Newsnight Scotland this evening and has been trailed by every outlet in the land (first trailed by Phil Mac Giolla Bhain last night). There appears to be genuine surprise in many news outlets. CQN’ers will be busy checking this this is, in fact, news, not a rehash of an earlier established fact (it is genuine news).
It has been a few months since Our Hero was The Only Show in Town but he can still put on a captivating performance.
Charles Green has yet to respond but he will. He has no choice. He could categorically deny the claim, citing Whyte’s court-established reliability, but to do that he’ll have to calculate that corroborating material will not emerge. The wrong word now could torpedo hopes of a successful share issue next month
A bombastic statement from well-polished PR people is what’s needed. I hope we’re not disappointed.
“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”. Kaboom!

We now have some idea of how disgraceful the S.F.A. is. According to White, they have not approached him about his £200,000 fine , just as they did not approach Rangers for compensation for Walter’s breach of contract. Obviously, in the eyes of the S.F.A. THE RANGERS ‘ARE THE PEEPIL.’
Timrieper
The scam started years ago and with full SFA and referreeing compliancy. Sir David Murray would not have been able to remove Lloyds from the scene if he did not. This tide did not change direction until Gordon Smiths parents tłok unwell.

Until UEFA get involved I dont see anyone walking away yet. I expect at least one more owner and two more share flotations before the crown reluctantly will do its job. By then THE Rangers will be back playing at the top level.
Sir David Murray will not face a jury of his peers until that circle has been completed.

*sorry – turn head sideways*
Craig Whyte interview 21:55 to 22:00 minutes, what else did he say about Alex Salmon and the Scottish Government trying to reduce a tax bill for a company?
21-5-79
Cheers.
” As he would have done for any other major Scottish Company”
Craig Whyte
p.s. especially basket cases
Potentially huge trouble for Salmond if he is found to have intervened with HMRC on behalf of either his millionaire Charlotte Square neighbour, or on behalf of Craigy and his tax-dodging sectarian jalloppee.
How ironic if the quintessential unionist football club were to derail the Nats’ triumphant march to Brigadoon…
Personally I find this all highly amusing and fully intend to pursue every sevcovian I meet tomorrow with gusto
If I was to have written the slow demise of the Hun I couldn’t have considered that it would be this much fun
Make them squirm tomorrow bhoys…it’s the least they deserve

I honestly find it hard to understand why they are getting away with this and yet UEFA say nothing,
Had it not been for the honest mistakes of the MIB and the loose governance of the games authorities they could very well have gone bust back in October.
October 2009.
The reputation of Scotland is soiled and stained beyond parody; I hope they think it was all worth it.

Would the clubs be able to sue UEFA because one of their members
was not applying rules fairly. Quite a grim scenario

The whole scam depended on ragers being an spl club, there must
have been assurances from spl and sfa. If ragers had been in the spl
would murray have been able to walk away frm £100m debt. With ragers
in the spl they would be profitable and deal done with hmrc and they go
on happily ever after
+++++
Rangers haven’t been profitable in the SPL since it’s inception; only in Europe have they gained a profit.
With a deal done with HMRC, presumably not for a full write-off of tax due, they would have been hamstrung for any number of years.
£40m Joe Lewis
£50m MIH
£15m MIH
£25m Dave King
£18m JJB
£27m Ticketus
£45m HMRC
£14m HMRC
£?? HMRC (4-6m??)
£31m NTL
These are all extra-football ‘income’ that they could never count on again and had been used to prop up the club formerly known as Rangers during the last 15 years.
This additional money enabled them to compete further in competitions (and in competitions they would otherwise never have been near to competing in, i.e. Champions League), probably gaining another £40-80m of income from Europe alone and of course large amounts from the additional kudos, sponsorship and marketing, although they had hived much of that off latterly and we’re maybe getting close to £300m of ‘never to be repeated’ earnings in the last 15 years.
Profitable? Happily ever after?
For us? Aye.
Them? Naw.
They were already a busted flush by the time Wim and Murdo hoisted the last ever Premier Division trophy aloft in May 1998.

Has the nodding donkey shown his grizzled coupon lately……….?
The Mrs has watched Craig Whyte’s interview, more brownie points it’s cost me :>)
She reckoned this interview was well planed, both the interviewer and CW, questions and answers were scripted.
[ reinforcing what Awe Naw said earlier ]
He never seemed phased in any way, untill he was asked about making money from the huns, which she thought was not scripted.
She thought he was telling the truth as he believes it.
She thinks he is kackin his pants.
Salmond was asked to help get Craig Whyte a workable solution. A solution that would mean the taxman still waiting for complete payment 25 years ago.
The fact is Salmond intervened on Craig Whytes behalf so he must have thought his plan was a goer. That is what Salmond needs questioned upon. That fact and what other failing companies he has done this for. If not then why this time ?

Our Hero’s interview, 30 min in, Chris McLaughlin “it’s the worst period in the club’s history”
Absolutely true but it would have been more descriptive if he’d said “it’s the worst period in the club’s 4 month history”

Another £9k offered to the sevco share issue, well I have a family to feed and have to cut back :)
One aspect of Whytes interview which I found particularly accurate was his comment re the old regime and their failure to even attempt to make any provision to try and pay off the big tax bill
A question which none of the media have ever asked …Johnston and co knew of the potential indebtedness but carried on regardless
The Huns have been a financial basket case for many years …Murray should be getting it very tight right now

thank you very much for the link ……. incredible …..the FTT / BDO must be imminent ..agent whyte is obviously a wrried man …..LOL when he was asked how much he has made from the deal…..he was doing OK until that point…then his eyes popped with that STARE …..wee shuffle about the seat ….that ‘sit up and pay attention’ …..the interviewer must have been ready to burst out laughing…..
The whole episode has been a colluding shambolic masonic mess, from start to finish.
Salmond must have been sitting saying …..gonnae SHUT UP, PLEEEEEEASE
COMEDY GOLD OF THE HIGHEST ORDER …..WHEN SUPPOSED BIG MEN BECOME LITTLE MEN …..THEY ALL REAP WHAT THEY SOW …..AND I AM LOVING IT, WITH THE BEST STILL TO COME ….iiiiiiiiiiiiit’s sedative time……!!!!!
