“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”

851

“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers” screams the BBC headline ahead of this evening’s interview by Chris McLaughlin of the Last King of Rangers, Our Hero, Craig Whyte.  Whyte has retained private contact with a couple of journalists but he has previously declined earnest requests to go on the record given the level of investigation he is under.  The wrong word could be costly.

But here it is, “I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”.  An unequivocal assertion.

The interview will be broadcast on Reporting Scotland and Newsnight Scotland this evening and has been trailed by every outlet in the land (first trailed by Phil Mac Giolla Bhain last night).  There appears to be genuine surprise in many news outlets.  CQN’ers will be busy checking this this is, in fact, news, not a rehash of an earlier established fact (it is genuine news).

It has been a few months since Our Hero was The Only Show in Town but he can still put on a captivating performance.

Charles Green has yet to respond but he will.  He has no choice.  He could categorically deny the claim, citing Whyte’s court-established reliability, but to do that he’ll have to calculate that corroborating material will not emerge.  The wrong word now could torpedo hopes of a successful share issue next month

A bombastic statement from well-polished PR people is what’s needed.  I hope we’re not disappointed.

“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”.  Kaboom!

If David Taylor is implicated in any way. UEFA will not want to look at it.

Did the SPL notify member clubs last year when they were informed admin was inevitable, that they had no money and that chances of a cvs we’re slim?

If not why not? Surely they had a duty to do so to protect members in their dealings with them.

I would imagine Rapid and UEFA will now be very interested in this.

Point taken, what were they trying to acheive? Theres definetly dissension in the ranks

  7. I see Whyte says he was never asked to pay his £200k fine by the SFA, why not?????

Why the charade of fining him, yet never following it up,

Fining RFC £160k when they are in administration and giving them 12 months to pay.

Putting a transfer Embargo on Rangers then asking, “when would you like it to start”.

    Is this governance?

Meantime over at Hearts, transfer embargo will kick in right away.

    Shocking.

  8. Remind me, is there not a golden rule in fifa and uefa laws that forbids political interference in football and football clubs?

I agree entirely on your analysis of this set-piece. Chris McLaughlin missed so many open goals he should change his name to Chris McSebo. Obviously hand-picked and obviously trying far too hard to come over like a skinny baldy Paxman that he wasn’t listening properly. Most of what he says is to repeat what Craigy Bhoy has said, quite articulately as a matter of fact. Craigy keeps teeing it up, Chris keeps swinging and missing.

I have it on very good authority that, between them, Salmond and Cameron made five calls to David Hartnet at HMRC. Phrases such as “we mustn’t have another Ulster” and “they’ll be civil unrest” were, I’m told used.

Did I hear Whyte say ” he did not want to be the man known for bringing Rankers to their knees?”

When Chris animal instinctively accepts that Rangers have been punished enough nodding and not questioning it and asks the Immediately the next question it gives the game away but its not intended for us its intended for employed Sevconians. It is an absolute shock that the national broadcaster is being used to publicise and bolster a criminal scam. Maybe that is why Green gets STV and Whyte BBC Sportsound Scotland.

  16. Around about six minutes in, when Craig Whyte says the bank was running the club, Chris, darling, that was your cue to ask if Rangers were trading while insolvent.

I know nothing how Jaroslaw Fojut rehab is going along. Nothing in the newspapers. He is not active on Twitter for couple of months. I read his interview circa two months back. He spoke very well about Celtic and understood decision. He was in UK for operations (2) and rehab.

  20. Having watched the Whyte interview its another wow moment.

Duff and Phelps are finished – they will never survive this.

Salmond is in serious trouble on this – but the question is who will call him out on this?

The SPL leadership now must resign – if they knew about the position with Rangers back in October and did nothing they are in trouble. Question is did they tell the SFA? If they did then woe betide the SFA.

Murray is heading to jail (as I suspect Whyte is for running a company while insolvent – not a going concern). Other members of the Board are also in trouble.

Green’s pathetic denial “its misleading” isnt a denial – so he is Whyte’s man (or was) after all.

Rumour abound that the Sevconians are once again approaching financial disaster – the end of it all approaches and many many will go down with the ship.

    Great isnt it :)

    goosygoosy says:

    Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 22:19

    Why?

Why did Whyte the known Spiv go public with a plausible yet damning attack on fellow Spivs Green, Grier and Clark while at the same time making an implausible attempt to exonerate Minty?

It wasn’t done to uphold Whyte`s reputation for integrity

So there are only 2 possible reasons

1 It was done for money

2 It was done to steer the police investigation in a particular direction which will eventually mitigate the actions of Whyte when all the Spivs are in the dock

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Spivs rarely cooperate with the Bill in public. When they cooperate they do so in secret.

So we can rule out No 2

This leaves money as the real motivator for Whyte

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

How does Whyte profit from todays disclosure?

He profits if D&P are found guilty of conflict of interest WITHOUT him being interviewed as his voluntary statements will support the findings of LH and the Insolvency Practitioners Association

He profits if the IPO is suspended by AIM because the sale agreement could be cancelled due to COI

He profits if his RFC related actions up to Administration on 14 Feb 2012 can be defended as being within the law

He profits if his floating charge reverts back to RFC from an (unnamed) Sevco 5088 subsidiary (where it probably rests now) and does not get challenged by HMRC when RFC are liquidated. This enables Whyte to pay off Close Leasing`s fc and claim Ibrox and MP in lieu of his £27m fc claim. He can then sell the assets to genuine fans of the deid club with the proviso that the Ticketus deal is rolled over

He profits if he can secure the cooperation of Ticketus in exchange for staying silent about the identity of Ticketus investors and their probable link to Minty

He profits if in addition to the Sale Agreement to buy RFC there was also a secret agreement under which Minty paid Whyte a large bonus for keeping him out of the spotlight

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    So

It’s not part of the original plan

But it’s part of the latest plan

    Popcorn time
