“Old Firm game for Wembley”. Heaven help us. I don’t doubt International Champions Cup owner, Charlie Stillitano, has a sharp eye for what he could turn into a commercial success, but there can be fewer worse ideas in the history of sporting endeavour.
So many things could go wrong with such a fixture, some would go wrong, and the contagion would spread to Celtic. There’s no mention in any coverage of this item that Celtic have been consulted at any level, so I’m assuming they were as surprised as the rest of us at the moment (they were at a similar suggestion of a game in Australia a few years ago).
Stillitano cites hosting Manchester City-Manchester United in Beijing later this year as being something of an approximation. It’s not. I suggest he looks to somewhere deep in the Monglian hinterland for a venue for a Glasgow derby of this nature. Even then I would decline.

I notice that John James blog from yesterday has disappeared. Anyone know why?
Macjay @ 0745am…
‘And what does it show?
The longer she stayed in power the more the electorate preferred her to the Labour alternative.’
Thanks for your tardy reply and partial concession. It has been a delight chatting and having the opportunity to help you :))
Your point was that Thatcher was elected ‘again and again’ by the ‘decent British people.’ see P12, on the previous thread. For further enlightenment have a look at the growth of the SDLP during that period.
You seem to have moved the goalposts now and want to talk about the Labour Party. Have a look at the figures. Briefly you’ll find that the majority of decent people didn’t vote for Thatcher.
In 1987 she won, 13.7m votes, but 26.9m eiligible voters didn’t vote for Thatcher (non decent voters?)
Glad to be of assistance ‘again and again’ :))

Usual Leftie guff on here. Expect personal abuse for anybody who goes against them.
How many on here have moved to a Socialist paradise? Most seem to be living in Capitalism.
Number of people who move to America? Lots.
Number who move to Socialist dumps?
A few useful idiots.
Beefy,
How many here and in America depend on socialist organisations to protect them ?
Mask has slipped with Labour. The loony Left despise Jews. Far Left and far Right are two cheeks of the same racist dupa.
Nostalgia .Different strokes for different folks etc.
Watched Atletico v Bayern in the company of the octogenarian Inter fanatic from down the valley . He positively purred with delight re Atletico’s tactics , desire , motivation , energy , fitness etc.. He was particularly chuffed at their success in spooking Vidal
” this reminds me of when Italian teams were good enough to play like this “.
Saw Papa Francesco on the tele earlier -fondly remembering Simeone’s time at San Lorenzo..Italian tele folllowed that with film of all 14 goals Simeone scored for Inter.

Maybe because yesterday the rumours of ASHLEY pulling out of today’s courts case
were rubbished by him ….His ” well placed source” had just confirmed to
him that everything was going ahead.
canamalar.
economists accept that simply increasing taxes will not always lead to more tax being collected. people will shelter money, pay themselves dividends instead of wages etc to make themselves as tax efficient as possible.

Nice strawman your building there.
Is that our choice? Either we swallow the medicine of our Tory overlords or we’re communists?
A bit of opportunism there as well regarding antisemitism. Just tar us all with the same brush eh?
Here we go again the manic right making up story’s, then using their made up story’s to blame everybody but themselves.
It’s simply punitive to tax people earning £50k at 50-60%. It would backfire. Most people earning that amount would simply move out of the country. Only people earning several hundred thousands should be taxed at 50% and even then I’m not sure how successful it would be. The corporations are the people to pursue.
Italiabhoy,
That wouldn’t be the same economists we’ve been listening to for the last 20 years would it ?
Aye we should keep listening to them ffs

…………………
I noticed that. The source told him that since notification of the action had been displayed on Tuesday there was no further need for it to be displayed again yesterday. It’s absence yesterday led to rumours that Ashley had pulled out. Is there any further news? Has Ashley definitely withdrawn from the case?
It’s only punitive if that is your perception, to others its contributing to society.
As for leaving the country, that’s their choice, they are welcome to choose to leave rather than contribute.
Australia would be a good place for them to go
America would be a good place for them to go

I must say I enjoy talking to you, Clogher.
You seem to be sane.
AND you like a laugh.
Which is why your posts are so humourous. ( N.B. Not laughable )
“Tardy reply ” …..Tyranny of distance and time zones.
On the other hand “eligible voters “. You mean not actual voters ?
Pal.
I didn`t come up the Clyde in a banana boat.
Well. Not recently .

Sorry, micheleen , won`t be dipping my toe into thae waters.
However , Ian Paisley`s cry of ” Never. Never.Never. ” puts you both on the same anti-Thatcher side.
How do you sleep at night ?
Kind Regards.

Let’s say they introduce a 50p rate at £50k compared to the 30p it currently is.
Do you really think somebody earning £55k is going to leave the country and all that entails over losing an extra £83 off their gross of £4583?
I’m afraid I don’t. I certainly wouldn’t.
Also £55k isn’t exactly top of the tree, world’s your oyster positions. I know several people on 6 figures down South that couldn’t just go wherever they like and get a new job.
About 6 years ago I travelled to a town below Durham to buy a Lakeland cross terrier(one of the best moves I’ve made). I travelled through towns and villages crossing from Carlisle and almost every one had obviosly had industry/work of some kind in the past. You could feel the hopelessness and depression. That was Thatcher’s legacy.
Who in their right mind can defend the sell-off of taxpayer owned assets like Water, Electricty, and other people-owned assets like Quinetic? Ordinary people paying through the nose for utilities.
Travelling up to Scotland after collecting the dog I travelled through the beautiful Border country, after seeing the Angel of the North and passing through Newcastle. Coming into Jedburgh (a lovely Royal Burgh) into Scotland was a relief and a lifting of the spirits.
That bitch watched good men die for a cause neither she or her party understood or wanted to understand–let them suffer through a hunger strike, let them die, because she wanted them viewed as criminals.
Yet people still offer her up as some sort of example.
I hope she’s roasting.

James Doleman Counsel for Ashley says “in light of developments” there has been a change in his position
Counsel for Mike Ashley tells court his client is a shareholder in a company that owns a share of the holding company of RFC
In an ideal world the club will have quietly lined up their first choice candidate as the next manager already and he will be making plans for the pending CL qualifiers.
In the worst case scenario the club will do little or nothing between now and the end of RDs tenure and will then scramble around for a new manager, ultimately settling for the cheapest candidate, well down the pecking order.
Which is the more likely????

Italiabhoy,
So the banks and corporations who pay for these economists and steal every tax payers money are not real world and we should just continue to follow their lead into the real world poverty because they live in the real world don’t they.
When the have problems the tax payer picks up the bill, when they are lying about inflation the customers pay more for less.
Capitalism is working at its peak when the thieves get baked out every time.

And yet the British people voted for a ” bitch ” from May `79 until ` 87.
And for her party for 18 years.
From `79 till `97 .
That`s a hell of an indictment on the British people.
But, quite a vote of confidence in her and legacy.
