“Old Firm game for Wembley”. Heaven help us. I don’t doubt International Champions Cup owner, Charlie Stillitano, has a sharp eye for what he could turn into a commercial success, but there can be fewer worse ideas in the history of sporting endeavour.
So many things could go wrong with such a fixture, some would go wrong, and the contagion would spread to Celtic. There’s no mention in any coverage of this item that Celtic have been consulted at any level, so I’m assuming they were as surprised as the rest of us at the moment (they were at a similar suggestion of a game in Australia a few years ago).
Stillitano cites hosting Manchester City-Manchester United in Beijing later this year as being something of an approximation. It’s not. I suggest he looks to somewhere deep in the Monglian hinterland for a venue for a Glasgow derby of this nature. Even then I would decline.

Knock capitalism all you like, but you’ll struggle to find a system which has lifted billions out of poverty like it has.
On the court case: so, was Jingle Jangle wrong again?
Wonder what’s caused Ashley to bail out?

It’s only punitive if that is your perception, to others its contributing to society.
As for leaving the country, that’s their choice, they are welcome to choose to leave rather than contribute.
Australia would be a good place for them to go
America would be a good place for them to go

Many people earning £50000+ are involved in jobs where they have responsibility, for example management positions. The people involved have to balance the amount of their remuneration against the levels of stress and responsibility of the job. There comes a point when the job is no longer worth doing.
If you earned say £60000+ then using your lower end figure of 50% tax rate
Personal Allowance £11000(?) leaves £49k taxable
£27000@20% = £5400
£12000@40%=£4800
£10000@50%=£5000 = £15200 in tax. That leaves you with £44800 before NI contributions. This would probably reduce salary to around £40000, in other words one third has been deducted and individual starts to lose motivation and ask if the job is worth the hassle. Recruitment also then becomes a problem. For example, in schools at the moment, there is great difficulty in recruiting people for senior positions because people feel that it is no longer worth the hassle.
If you suggest a tax figure and other people dispute it, put up an argument supporting your assertion. Many of us are working or have worked in jobs where we have had such a salary. Why are you rubbishing what we say without providing a constructive argument of your own.
No one is impressed by keyboard hard men.

A wee thought.
Disapproval or condemnation of the way the State of Israel conducts it`s business does not necessarily imply
anti – semitism.
However , that is the weapon which the State of Israel uses to silence it`s critics.

And using your figures, if the tax rate stayed at 40% for the £50k threshold they’d pay £83 less tax a month (£1000 for the year). I really don’t see people going through all the hassle of leaving the country for that.

I think he has more important and pressing things to worry about and may have taken a strategic decision to concentrate on those matters rather than stuff like this, which is no more than an ego trip.

I think he started these court actions before he was hit by the media storm over his way of doing business
I suspect his priorities have changed since then.
