Celtic will play KR Reykjavik in the Champions League second qualifying round with the first leg taking place on either 15or 16 July. Celtic are provisionally at home for the first let – but don’t book your flights until arrangements have been confirmed.
KR beat Glentoran 3-0 on aggregate in last season’s Europa League qualifying campaign before losing 1-3 home and away to Standard Liege. The Icelandic season continues throughout the summer, KR played a league game yesterday and have another three competitive games before meeting Celtic. Nine games into the league campaign they are three points off the pace.
From what I can tell, it looks like they have a grass pitch at their 3300 capacity stadium, which removes the big complaint from last season’s qualifiers.
This is a good tie for Celtic, who will be physically stretched by a mid-season team, but we’ll be strong favourites.
We were last in competitive action in Iceland against Valur in 1975, when a 0-2 win out there preceded a 7-0 victory at Celtic Park.

Was one of the last games I attended.
Also, was there no one of the Hearts players having ding-dong
with WGS throughout the game and, when we scored the winner
WGS ran the length of the touchline at the Celtic end of the Main stand
and rapped it roon the Hearts player?
CG was up for the penalty, I remember it well from my vantage point
in the JS lower section 139 – but, surely ‘that’ disny make him a hun?
I would say that Celtic FC’s ‘biggest’ pillars of the hoose didny come
from yon ‘pis#y’ Celtic-minded back grounds which are littered with blind-spots
anyway – imho.
Hail Hail

Bestaluck to yer wee Mammy,bud.
Jooooost remind her there’s a trip planned to Cheltenham to see her kid sis,and she’ll be right as rain!
I recall a brilliant performance from WGS in the Celtic dug out
at ibrokes on the day that Scott MacDonald scored a cracking
winner for us.
WGS was like a riled yosemiti Sam, brilliant.
WGS = ‘Thee’ best player ever to have played in the EPL!
imho
Wasn’t the Craig Gordon incident at Tynecastle?
It’s just a pity that WGS allowed himself to be a PL / DD / the ‘bored’ puppet.

I might be wrong(who me?) but I think that
Stevie Frail was the Hearts manager at the time?
A very simple concept for KJ to get his mind around:
1. Any would-be saviour(s) of Sevco would need to funnel many, many millions into the club/company (whatever) with absolutely no prospect of a return on the ‘investment’.
2. Football clubs, even successful ones don’t generally run at a profit.
3. Mega rich people get rich by not spending money if they can possibly avoid it.
Put these basic facts together and what do you think are the chances of a Sevco Saviour galloping over the horizon to a rapturous greeting at Mordor?
Kev
I have a recollection of him doing similar at Tynecastle as well unless thee ol memory is worse than I thought!!
Morning all.

Prayers for yer mammy. If she survived the Bankie blitz, this’ll be a dawdle.
macjay1,
Was it not Denis Connaghan who took the banana, or, for you, boomerang, goal kick.
Anyone know anyone in the Prague67 csc? Looks like it is just me and middle tauranga daughter who want to go to the Dresden game from Prague. ST put me onto the trains which could work but it would be better if I could tag along with local Celts. Any help appreciated. Hail Hail.

Naw, yer memory is fine.
I’ve seen CG do that in a few games and
not just against us. Boruc used to do it for us
as well in a few games.
But, some folk on here choose to use the fact
that CG went up for a corner v’s us and start to
question his integrity?
What school did CG go to?
That is along the same lines of some of the paranoid
p#sh(even worse than mine!) that folk see around CG.
Did CG go up for a corner v’s the huns? Who cares?
If CG could stay fit, he’d be playing in the top six in the
EPL. imho
Ah think CG is worth taking a chance on.
So, that means he’ll be no where near CP then.
Morning Timland from a damp but warm hun free mountain valley.

Best wishes to yer Ma.

Problem we have in scotland is not a team that can splash the cash, a few have tried and failed to match us, it’s you know who.
They are worth a championship or two…………
I can’t understand why the clubs allow it, is there an inbuilt inferiority complex ingrained into the scottish mindset ?
TAL when we stand up to them.

Aye, if only there was any possible relationship between the nature of the two complaints, we’d be quids in, eh?
Never mind, I am sure there is something in the White Paper about curtailing OO parades- No?
Well what about in the Offensive Behaviour Act- will we at least see us free from parades on days where football is played?- No?
Well, surely, there is some SNP announcement about how they will treat this matter?…..
Here’s hoping for better things for Delaney’s Dunky’s mum.

Yep.100% in agreement.The “Standing area”would help.

The difference between the Gordon incident and Boruc doing the same thing was that Gordon and his Hearts’ side had nothing to play for. I do think that’s quite significant.
Thanks for all the kind words and prayers for my mammy. She had a comfortable night and showing improvement. Will convey all your wishes to her later. Thank you :)
IMO,Gordon went up for that corner on instructions from his manager.
There are various reasons why he should perhaps not be at Celtic Park, fitness being the main one,but a last-minute attempt to secure an equaliser for his team should not be held against him. If he can prove his fitness, then he’ll do.
Mind you,if I’m honest, the main reason I didn’t want McDonald near Celtic was all to do with Black Sunday.
Delaneys Dunky – best wishes to your mammy. Hope she recovers quickly.

Delighted,mate!

My memory of the CG corner incident was that it was the last minutes of the game and vital championship points were at stake for us, where as for Hearts it was only pride. I those circumstances it was highly unusual for a keeper to do take the decision to come up for the corner. It did appear to be the act of someone was desperate to stop a Celtic win at all costs.
How many other run-of-the-mill games did he do the same thing?
DD
Excellent news.

Yip. The main issue with CG playing for us is the question over his physical condition. He went up for a corner against us, eh? Shock horror! An opposition player having the gaul to be competitive? How very dare he! :-))

Glasgow plays host to more Protestant Loyal Orders and Irish Republican parades than Northern Ireland’s two biggest cities combined,
Figures from Glasgow City Council and the Parades Commission of Northern Ireland show that during a period when there were 217 marches by the Orange Order, the Apprentice Boys and Royal Black Chapter on the streets of Belfast and Londonderry, in Glasgow there were 247.
Who has control of these parades in Glasgow ?
The OO has lodges all over the UK, does any mainstream political party have any proposals in any white papers to deal with the OO and parades.
