CELTIC are stepping up their interest in AEK Athens’ in-demand striker Levi Garcia.

A Hoops scout watched the 18-goal Trinidad international forward in the scoreless stalemate against Panathinaikos at the weekend.

The 25-year-old pacy and prolific raider was also spied on by 13 teams, including Stuttgart, Lazio, Slavia Prague and French pair Bordeaux and Lille, according to Greek media outlet Sportime.

Garcia, capped 37 times, plays on the right, but favours his left foot with a fair percentage of his strikes coming from cutting inside and letting fly.

The Parkhead talent watchers have been keeping track of the player throughout the season and he is currently second top scorer in the nation’s Super League.

It is Garcia’s third campaign with Greek giants after two seasons in the Israeli top flight and the previous three in the Eredivisie where was on the books of AZ Alkmaar.

Liel Abada is poised to leave the champions in the summer with increasing speculation and Garcia looks to be a natural fit as a replacement.

Celtic will take another look at the impressive attacker when AEK play PAOK in the Greek Cup Final on May 24.

In his accustomed fashion, Ange Postecoglou will want to get a deal put in place as swiftly as possible.
