Irony behind robust SFA rules

1103

The statement released by Duff and Phelps last night revealed the substance to the lobbying that had taken place since the original punishment handed out by the SFA judicial panel:

“The decision by the appellate tribunal to uphold the sanction, namely the suspension of registration of players for one year, is not competent in the view of the club and its legal advisers.

“Such a sanction was not available to the tribunal”.

The suspension of player registrations was not one of the suggested punishments on the menu for the judicial panel but the rules allowed them to vary from guidance and choose whatever punishment they believed appropriate.

The appeal correctly found that the judicial panel were not were not subject to an exhaustive list of possible punishments.  Duff and Phelps main hope was that the SFA rules were unclear and poorly constructed, as they were before an overhaul last year.

You don’t need to look too hard for the irony.

In Florida, and on the beach yesterday, me and Mrs RWE got talking to a lady from Paisley. She’s retired, and admits that she’s an RFCIA fan.

    Quotes from her.

    “I just love Ally”

“My daughter gave me into trouble for donating 500 pounds to RFCIA.”

“I just phoned my son there and he said that RFCIA are sold now. (Green)”

“I mean they haven’t been found guilty of anything yet (taxes), have they?”

    “I like Jim Traynor.”

“The person to blame for all this trouble is (wait for it)…Dick Advocaat.”

“I mean that Tor Andre Flo was rubbish.”

All genuine quotes from someone who supports them and gave to their fighting fund, and who I had never met until yesterday.

Johnnyclash; thanks for the heads-up. I had no idea Paul Buchanan had an album out. Pre-ordered it already. Sadly, Mrs NBNW is no great fan of slow, soulful keltic melancholy and regret.

Americana is very angry and is nicely off kilter. Lots of fuzztone and guitar playing that wouldn’t be out of place on an Albert Ayler LP..

Pal in Glasgow sent me a tape of —-

Two Wings — Loves Spring – people from Glasgow —— sound like the love child of Pentangle and Gene Clark. I liked it a lot.

Side B features – Comus —- Out of The Coma – their first in yonks —-still very angry and attractively grotesque.

  10. I understand that the Huns Fighting Fund was used to pay their QC in the (unsuccesful) appeal….shame that!!……you would have thought given their financial plight they would have qualified for Legal Aid!!!……or is that funded by honest tax-payers!!

  11. question re cars…

did anyone ever buy a car from outside UK and have it shipped over ? if so, was any money saved by following this method ?

I had a Subaru shipped from Belgium and saved quite a bit. A bit more hassle getting it registered, getting plates made etc. but well worth it. Savings vary quite a bit depending on the make/model of car.

It doesn’t make much difference. They are finished. Liquidation is just one of a number of issues about to hit them between the eyes.

Another thing, insist on it being delivered in daylight and check it thoroughly. Mine was delivered at night , in the pouring rain and I missed seeing a small dent in it until the next morning. Had a devil of a job getting someone to admit liability.

Never done it, but is there not some loophole that you can buy a car from say Japan, have it separated at the chassis and sent over in two parts within a split container. This is considered parts not a car.

Maybe some dodgy bloke on here can clarify for you!!

  21. Good to see Marc Crosas playing a part in Santos Laguna’s draw last night

Chile striker Humberto “Lollipop” Suazo converted a penalty in added time to salvage a 1-1 draw for Monterrey at home to Santos Laguna in the first leg of the Mexican Clausura championship final.

The shaven-headed Suazo was brought down by Santos’s Panamanian defender Felipe Baloy and the Chilean struck the equaliser past goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez in the fourth minute of injury time.

Santos took the lead at Monterrey’s Estadio Tecnologico when striker Oribe Peralta scored with a shot from outside the box after taking a pass from Spaniard Marc Crosas.

The second leg is scheduled for Santos’s Torreon stadium on Sunday when Monterrey will be looking for their second title of the season after winning the Concacaf Champions League.

    – and a further twist in el espanol scenario…i see that ye old Rep of Ireland play v Espana on thurs 14th – so this house here in UAE wil be one guy wearin the hoops against 6 guys wearing the red of the world champions – thinkin of givin that one a body-swerve – but will wait and see – got a possible party to attend back in sunny ecosse at that time – however, should i have to face the fury, then i’ll be bankin on Aiden runnin amock v that big diddy, Sergio Ramos, or the like !

  23. Bolton release list of players leaving

Gretar Steinsson, Paul Robinson, Sean Davis, Robbie Blake, Ricardo Gardner, Ivan Klasnic, Mark Connolly, Tope Obadeyi, Rhys Bennett, Dino Fazlic, Tom Eckersley and Nigel Reo-Coker.

Robinson is still a great keeper and Klasnic is the type of striker we are supposedly looking for. Would take either of them.
