Is it any wonder Celtic fans worry about contagion?

639

Not only are Newco left without an auditor, a Nomad and therefore a market listing, outgoing auditors Deloitte, wrote to the club last month to explain they were resigning due to threatening and intimidating messages received by their staff from anonymous persons during 2013 and 2014 in relation to their work with the club.

The toxicity of that football club is difficult to overstate.  Is it any wonder Celtic fans are clear: the ‘Old Firm’ died in 2012?  Any attempts to rekindle it will result in contagion for our own club, who maybe smaller going forward without the ‘Old Firm’ dividend, but it will be healthier nonetheless.

I’ll take 40,000 crowds and winning the next 30 titles in a canter, bring it on.

Enlighten me, I had a great uncle who was the headmaster ( Felix K.)of one of the largest catholic secondary schools in Belfast at the height of the troubles. He had a couple of sons who he encouraged to join an arm of the British Forces,RAF, who went onto become mostly successful in their lives. He had no time for the gangsters who were so intellectually challenged that they had to resort to bombs and bullets to further their cause rather than using their intellectual mettle to further their cause. As for the young brave volunteers from the west of Scotland who proffered their love of the cause and their wish to die for it…..for most of them this amounted to singing a few rebel songs at Celtic Park on a Saturday afternoon back then and shoving a couple of penny’s in a collection box which was swallowed down the Gallowgate later in the day. The only volunteer I am aware of that joined the cause from the west of Scotland was an ex British soldier who ended up serving in a bar in Dundalk and felkked off with the money collected behind same bar for the purchase of a couple of season tickets for Celtic Park …… True republican too his roots

Ps there was a fella Daly in my geneolgy line who happened to be in a Post Office in Dublin circa Easter 1916 but I am booked for Santa Ponsa about that time

The Irish diaspora in the West of Scotland played a significant and vital role in the fight for Irish freedom. Be it the supply of arms, money, volunteers, or whatever.

Same as the diaspora in America, England and Australia did likewise.

  15. Only a couple of decades before the war in the north of Ireland the Israeli terrorists were killing the British fighting to make a homeland, now were expected to support them, is that double standards ? Naw Shirley no.

During the war in the north of Ireland the British army were providing information to paramilitaries on civilians they wanted dead. Provided explosives to paramilitaries to indiscriminately murder republican civilians.

If I’m no mistaken the British army indiscriminately shooting into peaceful human rights demonstrations murdering innocent civilians, in fact I think that might have been around the time that the republican movement were forced to take up arms to protect their communities against the British, and decided it was time take the war to the British, no ?

  16. Prior to which, the only civilian casualties were catholic civilians but they don’t count

Not ashamed to admit I had relatives who stated they didnae have a penny to spend but managed to get blootered every night then keep their weans up with their songs of Irish rebellion then waken up up in the afternoon and blame it on proddy conspiracies why they couldn’t be successful in life and then go back on the swally wether their weans had something to eat or not

Plenty of Catholics in the west of Scotland have made a success of their lives and have attained positions that their hard work and studying has deserved

Admittedly there are a few positions that they will never attain

But will you ever see a proddy a gay woman or married man become Pope in our lifetime.,… Don’t think so

How many innocent Catholics did the RA murder in their bombing campaigns

  21. slan…,

Before the republican movement took up arms the only civilian casualties were Irish Catholics but they don’t count because the British did not count them. The British told the world they occupied the north of Ireland to protect the Catholics and then turned their guns on them during peaceful protest. What part of that are you not getting ? It really is quite simple or are you saying the only civilians that were indiscriminately murdered were British because the Irish were after not citizens because they didn’t have a vote.
