Jaroslaw Fojut on Celtic, Lennon and possibly moving this month

1057

Jaroslaw Fojut spoke to a Polish newspaper yesterday on his decision to join Celtic. Our man in Poland kindly transcribed:

When asked if he would like to move to Celtic this month, Jaroslaw said, “If I move to Celtic this winter a convenient outcome for all sides would need to happen.  If I need to stay in Wroclaw until the end of the season it will not be a tragedy.  My decision to sign for Celtic is not going to change my dedication to Slask.

“Whatever the outcome, I will not be aggrieved.

“The people at Slask offered me a good contract.  Before I signed for Celtic I met Slask chairman, Piotr Wasniewski and explained my situation.  I wanted to play fair with the club who were always fair with me.

“Money was not the main reason I decided to go to Scotland.  I do not have to justify myself by telling you what kind of club Celtic is and the real reasons behind my decision.

“My agent told me about signals from other club but there were no concrete offers.  Celtic were determined to sign me and when their offer came in I did not look for other options.

“I expect competition for a place in the Celtic team to be high but when I get a chance to play I will make good use of that privilege.  I have not spoken to Neil Lennon yet but I am aware of what he has said about me and look forward to meeting him.

“I remember playing against him when he was with Nottingham.  I think we played twice in the cup and once in the league but could not be sure.

“I planned to call Lukasz Zaluska and ask what it was like at Celtic but what if he told me things were bad there?”  Which Jaroslaw laughed at.

“Lukasz and I will have lots to talk about, we are both Legia supporters.

“I’m not going to argue about whether the Scottish or Polish league is better, everyone is entitled to their opinion on this.  I’m pretty sure we have no club in Poland who can compare to Celtic, whatever aspect you analyse, economic issues, organisation, supporters, stadium or anything.

“Let’s not forget Celtic play in Europe every year and battle for the biggest prizes.

“In a way going to Celtic is a dream come true but my dreams will have to change.  I will not going the Bhoys and feel happy, my ambitions will have to move on.  I am sure Lionel Messi still has something to win and achieve.  He has never been the champion of the world and that is why he must improve.  I’m pretty sure I will not be short of incentives.

“Celtic is a very big deal for me but you do not climb the mountain and say, OK, I’m done.

“My acclimatisation is going to me easier in many aspects.  I know the British game, I know what the coaches expectations are.  During my years in England I learned the language so I’ll not have problems with communication.”

    Thanks for that.

I thought it was highly likely he had it but didn’t want to assume so.

Like yourself,I believe this is a cause well worth pursuing.

Please accept a big thanks and well done from me for all the sterling work you have done to try to get to the truth on this issue.

“An easy example is the Elbows appeal, the rules allowed it but it was still wrong.”

Do you seriously believe if Wanyama, Kayal, Forrest etc. were in the same position as Elbows Neil and Celtic would not have appealed in order that they could play against the Huns if the situation was turned around. The only difference would be that had it been us the committee would have met in time to throw out any appeal.

We have used the system to our advantage in the past.

They’ve been on a 2 day pronunciation course learning how to say ‘Chelik’ not Celik – what more do you want?

Foyoot is just as easy to say as Fojit, but even Celtic TV have it wrong. They did the same with Boruc – how many years was he here?

I don’t get it, but there you go – we are a monoglot nation, I’m afraid.

GAIS officials don’t know about HMRC and Rangers. They still get all their information via the electric telegraph. If you send one now, you could save them £300k.

My understanding is EBTs are still legal if operated as intended i.e as trusts where the party benefitting trusts that the party endowing will do so without additional separate written conditions that betray the trust principle.

So nothing in principle has legally changed since 2001 when Rangers embarked on this course.

The argument is that the way the trust operated took away the very element that made it a trust, i.e separate written undertakings, the exact nature of which are unknown but vary via speculation from an indeminity to the players from future clawback of tax not paid to conditions on which disbursements would be made.

Much more depends on the nature of the separate undertakings than an argument EBTs were OK at the time. The basis of the RTC blog is that there are separate undertakings and they are quite damming to the trust principle.

However your note of caution is right but if HMRC were to lose, trusts in the way that Rangers operated will become the way of things at quite a cost to the public purse.

In this case Rangers are no longer City Hall. CityHall is.

It was an easy example but if you look at how the old Review Panel process was used or how the old system allowed Diouf and Bougherra to escape just punishment I think you will find they are better than making use ofthe rules than we are, perhaps because it was easier forthem.

However on the Elbows decision, yup Celtic would have done the same, but I reckon there would be a lot more debate amongst the support about what was right and it was the support I was thinking of more than the clubs.

The fact HMRC were prepared to enter the minefield suggests they got good legal advice before doing so. The facc SDM sold Rangers for a £1 suggests he got the same advice, but the law is as funny an old game as fitbaw.

The Tribunal hearing the current case finished its hearings on Wednesday. Time to a decision is speculation from weeks, to months to even a year (more because it is possible rather than likely).

  12. Quonno,

I am of the opinion that the Scottish judiciary will have more problems putting the boot into the huns than the board will. If you had read any my posts these last years and are capable of digesting that in.formation then you would know that if the board back a Newco in any way I think you won’t be seeing me much on here. So you will be talking to yourself. If the huns are found guilty then your opening gambit will be nonsense. The huns will be stripped of those titles.

Celtic want Newcastle United goalkeeper Fraser Forster in permanent deal

Forster has become Celtic’s first-choice goalkeeper during two loan spells

Celtic manager Neil Lennon hopes to make Fraser Forster’s loan deal from Newcastle United permanent before the January transfer window closes.

“We are hoping to get his representatives in pretty soon to try to get a deal sorted out,” Lennon said of the 23-year-old goalkeeper.

“We have given him a home for a year and a half and I think he has made the most of it.

“I think he has improved greatly over this season.”

Lennon thought the Englishman was already “very consistent” during his first loan spell at Celtic Park last season.

“Good goalkeepers are hard to find and we feel as if he has great potential to go on and become a great goalkeeper,” said the manager.

Lennon denied reports of any interest in Charlton Athletic striker Yann Kermorgant, the 30-year-old Frenchman who has scored seven goals in 15 starts for the League One leaders.

Rabiu trained with the first team and didn’t look out of place and then we had a bounce game and he was excellent. After an hour, we all made our mind up that this kid would be good for us

He also confirmed that he had all but given up hope of signing striker Baba Diawara, who is instead poised to complete a £2.5m move from Maritimo to Sevilla.

Celtic have secured the signatures of two players this week – 24-year-old Slask Wroclaw defender Jaroslaw Fojut, who will arrive in the summer, and 20-year-old playmaker Rabiu Ibrahim, subject to a successful work permit application for the Nigerian.

“I played against Fojut when he was at Luton and I thought he was fantastic in the two games,” said former Nottingham Forest midfielder Lennon.

“He was only 19 or 20 at that time and he sort of disappeared off the footballing radar and then his name cropped up six or seven, eight weeks ago.

“We looked at footage of him and he has improved since then.

“He is very quick, aggressive, good in the air and technically sound and he knows the British game. I think he is good business on a Bosman.”

Lennon was especially enthusiastic about Ibrahim, who was given a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven.

“He comes with great pedigree having been with PSV,” added the Celtic manager.

“He was well sought after as a young player and, sometimes when you get that reputation, it can eat you up a bit.

“Things didn’t work out for him at PSV and we brought him in for 10 days and we have been very impressed with him.

“He trained with the first team and didn’t look out of place and then we had a bounce game and he was excellent.

“After an hour, we all made our mind up that this kid would be good for us.

“He is very good footballer and very intelligent.

“He is small for the British game, but he makes up for that in the way he manipulates the ball.

“He may not come straight into the first-team squad, and this is all pending on a work permit, but we don’t envisage too many problems with that.”

I have no big problem with wrong pronunciations unless mistakes are done by people who take money for giving right information.

Probably every one on this site would not tell properly Wrocław but I can imagine that the journalist who reads the news on TV has enough time to check how to say :Fojut , or Wrocław or whatever other name.

Fojut is new player of big club, Wrocław is big city in Poland, bigger than Glasgow in Scotland I think.

  19. New, unofficial information from here is that Celtic and Slask are in talks about prompt transfer. Celtic want Fojut in January.

Mr Whyte’s expertise is in rescuing distressed companies and making money from the rescue, not running the companies he has rescued (if indeed he has actually done so).

It folllows from that that he in fact is expecting to lose the case but is there to protect Rangers from the consequences of losing ie paying HMRC so that they can continue in some shape or form.

Quite how that pans out is the subject that exercises the RTC blog daily but in terms of it meaning Mr Whtye got good advice that the case would be won, his background suggests quite the reverse.

  25. Just returned from a “meet the manager” session at Celtic Park.

    The main points being

Jaroslaw Fojut long shot he will join us in january (probably not required)

Bangaura is a player who Neil rates and has been very unlucky with injuries but will feature in the second half of the season

We are looking to bring in a centre forward who can head the ball…daly from Dundee Utd was not dismissed (although not confirmed)

Neil has told Hoopers agent there is no deal to be done with Southampton and he hasnt heard from him again.
