Jaroslaw Fojut on Celtic, Lennon and possibly moving this month

1057

Jaroslaw Fojut spoke to a Polish newspaper yesterday on his decision to join Celtic. Our man in Poland kindly transcribed:

When asked if he would like to move to Celtic this month, Jaroslaw said, “If I move to Celtic this winter a convenient outcome for all sides would need to happen.  If I need to stay in Wroclaw until the end of the season it will not be a tragedy.  My decision to sign for Celtic is not going to change my dedication to Slask.

“Whatever the outcome, I will not be aggrieved.

“The people at Slask offered me a good contract.  Before I signed for Celtic I met Slask chairman, Piotr Wasniewski and explained my situation.  I wanted to play fair with the club who were always fair with me.

“Money was not the main reason I decided to go to Scotland.  I do not have to justify myself by telling you what kind of club Celtic is and the real reasons behind my decision.

“My agent told me about signals from other club but there were no concrete offers.  Celtic were determined to sign me and when their offer came in I did not look for other options.

“I expect competition for a place in the Celtic team to be high but when I get a chance to play I will make good use of that privilege.  I have not spoken to Neil Lennon yet but I am aware of what he has said about me and look forward to meeting him.

“I remember playing against him when he was with Nottingham.  I think we played twice in the cup and once in the league but could not be sure.

“I planned to call Lukasz Zaluska and ask what it was like at Celtic but what if he told me things were bad there?”  Which Jaroslaw laughed at.

“Lukasz and I will have lots to talk about, we are both Legia supporters.

“I’m not going to argue about whether the Scottish or Polish league is better, everyone is entitled to their opinion on this.  I’m pretty sure we have no club in Poland who can compare to Celtic, whatever aspect you analyse, economic issues, organisation, supporters, stadium or anything.

“Let’s not forget Celtic play in Europe every year and battle for the biggest prizes.

“In a way going to Celtic is a dream come true but my dreams will have to change.  I will not going the Bhoys and feel happy, my ambitions will have to move on.  I am sure Lionel Messi still has something to win and achieve.  He has never been the champion of the world and that is why he must improve.  I’m pretty sure I will not be short of incentives.

“Celtic is a very big deal for me but you do not climb the mountain and say, OK, I’m done.

“My acclimatisation is going to me easier in many aspects.  I know the British game, I know what the coaches expectations are.  During my years in England I learned the language so I’ll not have problems with communication.”

Interesting post on the mindsets at play. I have another observation to add and give the blog something to chew over (but please no one not fal out about).

The exchange you had contains on the part of the Rangers man a denial any wrongdoing took place or even any sense of wrongdoing itself and I wonder if that is indeed a a consequence of the relative Catholic and Protestant/non Catholic upbringings at play?

By that I mean wrongdoing is part of the Catholic tradition, we recognise sin and carry the guilt associated. However that burden would overweigh us if it not for forgiveness that comes from the belief in the sacrament contrition and the ability to express it.

What I mean by that is that because Catholicism teaches us to believe we can be forgiven our sins through contrition, does that make us more able to recognise wrongdoing because we have much less fear of the consequences?

Now at this point I am wandering into a territory I know little about i.e Protestant beliefs, but my understanding is contrition is not a significant feature and because this is so is the fear of admitting sin/wrongdoing and the consequences of that admission not something that works against wrongdoing being recognised?

If that chap had been of the CQN mindset that a wrong had taken place and expressed regret at it, would your reaction have been a negative one towards him (as it appears to be and I;m observing not judging here) or one of forgiveness and indeed mercy?

What strikes me about the Rangers approach to things is how a scrupulous it is in in terms of using the rules to deny wrong. An easy example is the Elbows appeal, the rules allowed it but it was still wrong.

I reckon that if somehow we could persuade the Ranger’s mindset that it was OK to admit wrong and they would not burn in hell for eternity if they did (got a picture of Mr Paisley in my head there) then the consequences for them would be a lot less than they fear. Something is not right in the thinking.

I blame non Catholic schools :)

PS. To the non Catholic Celtic supporters reading I am not advocating contrition or Catholicism as something greater better etc, folks beliefs are what they are, but I am wondering if the difference in mindsets can be traced to underlying different religious beliefs pemeating everday thinking.

Considering that they have never even countenanced apologising for their sectarian signing policy and even just recently not once did the cardihun ever express regret about the bombs and bullets that Neil Lennon and others received until he had left his position I think your onto a loser trying to convince them.

In fact I would do my utmost to convince you not to bother and it is indeed a waste of your time.

Good to see Newco Quick News is still rolling along despite all the interference from football matches along the way.

Can I ask the unthinkable? What if the eminent Judges are not convinced by the HMRC case?

Meanwhile where is our new striker who can head the ball? Perhaps its another opportunity for Superboy Victor Wanyama to excel?

Good post – feel for you having to listen to that pompous individual’s prattlings, although working in the city you’ll have had plenty of experience. :-)

Your point was the exact same thing that occurred to me. Will Hutton did a piece once about the Cathollic and Protestant historical approach to debt (advocating the protestant one) re. the financial crisis. Celtic and Rangers’ recent financial history certainly bear his theory out.

  6. I see it is being reported Celik will fly in to sign a deal on Friday with rangers. The boys training compensation has been quoted between £240,000 and £350,000.

I did not think the bares even had that to spend. I assume Blackpool paid a loan fee for Fleck.

So much for Aunt Sally and his no-one needs to leave first p1sh…

I am not averse to selling anyone…anyone at all… at the right price. If Milan, Manchester or Madrid come for our players and pay a good price then we should take it. That helps us attract other promising young players if they see others getting on.

    Hooper now though? Daftness.

The Irish Province has achieved all of the austerity goals needed for it to keep receiving international loans, its international Masters have said.

The announcement followed a visit from the so-called Imperial Troika of the European Union, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund.

The Irish Province managed to cut its 2011 deficit to below 10.6% of its gross domestic product.

But the Imperial Troika warned that economic growth would only be 0.5% in 2012.

Low growth will make it harder for the Irish Province to achieve its goal of a deficit no more than 8.6% of GDP in 2012.

The Masters had previously forecast growth of 1% for this year.

  11. I thought Donati was a great player.

Palermo announced on their official website that they have completed the signing of midfielder Massimo Donati from Bari for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old has agreed a contract until June 2014 with Bortolo Mutti’s side. Donati has also featured for the likes of Atalanta and Celtic in a much-travelled career, which also saw him loaned out to several clubs, including Torino, Sampdoria, Parma and Messina.

He is now in line to make his debut for Palermo on Sunday against Genoa.

My father summed up the difference betwixt us and them as, ” they lack the Grace of God”.

It was much more evident, the difference, I mean, a few years ago, but, for me, the premise still holds.

Then the bares just need to cope with an owner who spent his only £1 and has sold off every income stream rangers have just so he can keep the club going.

oh! then there is the matter of him not paying any Tax/National Insurance for the past 3 months…

Humbly submit that Celtic Football Club is not a factory where the beans are shovelled in the back door to be cooked, sauced, canned, labelled and sold on at profit.

We have as fine a crop of beans now as i can remember since the early 70s. If we can keep these beans in the same Celtic can for a few years they will bring riches and success to the club, and joy to us, and in doing so elevate themselves from the status of HP beans to Harvey Nicks beans …. If Harvey Nicks do beans, but you get the drift.

I thought you were a capitalist. Never heard of ‘speculate to accumulate’?

It is the first law of economics, especially when you find yourself with a dressing room full of wee beans who will only become bigger, better beans.

    Adam Smith told me that.

Well Celtic have informed Charlton that they are not interested in there French striker so we are like the media no further forward. However,as long as we dont sell Hooper in this window we have enough up front to win the SPL ah what about injury I hear you say? well we have Rasmussen,Bangura and young Keetings and of course it wouldnt surprise me if big Victor 67 was a good striker as he is good at everything else.H.H.

  18. Concerning the mini huns request for monies owed got me thinking about a similar situation which the heathens benefited out of.

Mibbees Mad Vlad isnae as daft as some on here think.

“Moore spent most of the 1998–99 season at Crystal Palace; despite being regarded as a success in London as the Eagles’ fought relegation, he returned to Rangers after the South London club defaulted on transfer payments.”

The population cannot service the level of debt that a country ten times the size.

Oh and I dont know what I was thinking we also have Super Sammi keep the money in the tin Peter until the summer.H.H.

  22. So – Hearts are hoping they can do a deal with Rangers to get £700k now.

Whilst stifling your laughter, consider that they accepted a deal in which a company facing imminent ruin were to pay less than half the money up front.

Meanwhile, Craig ‘doing all we can to avoid administration’ Whyte has filled in the money hole left by Weir, opening a new London ‘office’, adding someone else to the magic neverending payroll, and is about to sanction the addition of Mervan Celik (never have Scottish media pundits been so keen to pronounce a name correctly) at £7k a week and the incurrent £240k compensation fee (good luck with getting that, GAIS).

Evidently, their isn’t a Swedish equivalent for ‘suckers’.

Brilliant. They have a fantastic youth section with over 450 boys and girls registered. The official opening of the two new playing pitches takes place on the first weekend in may with Miceal O Murchartaigh doing the honours.

    1) Apologies if this has been answered already but … can anyone confirm what the current FIFA/UEFA regulations state about what happens to the registration of players when their club goes bust but that club still owes money to the club they bought the player from?

Hypothetical question only. Lets pretend the players involved are called Lee Jelavic & Nikica Wallace.

    2) Last week someone posted a hilarious link showing Cigar Wtyhe being chased by the tax man and saying “eh” quite a lot. Does anyone have the link?
