Jaroslaw Fojut on Celtic, Lennon and possibly moving this month

1057

Jaroslaw Fojut spoke to a Polish newspaper yesterday on his decision to join Celtic. Our man in Poland kindly transcribed:

When asked if he would like to move to Celtic this month, Jaroslaw said, “If I move to Celtic this winter a convenient outcome for all sides would need to happen.  If I need to stay in Wroclaw until the end of the season it will not be a tragedy.  My decision to sign for Celtic is not going to change my dedication to Slask.

“Whatever the outcome, I will not be aggrieved.

“The people at Slask offered me a good contract.  Before I signed for Celtic I met Slask chairman, Piotr Wasniewski and explained my situation.  I wanted to play fair with the club who were always fair with me.

“Money was not the main reason I decided to go to Scotland.  I do not have to justify myself by telling you what kind of club Celtic is and the real reasons behind my decision.

“My agent told me about signals from other club but there were no concrete offers.  Celtic were determined to sign me and when their offer came in I did not look for other options.

“I expect competition for a place in the Celtic team to be high but when I get a chance to play I will make good use of that privilege.  I have not spoken to Neil Lennon yet but I am aware of what he has said about me and look forward to meeting him.

“I remember playing against him when he was with Nottingham.  I think we played twice in the cup and once in the league but could not be sure.

“I planned to call Lukasz Zaluska and ask what it was like at Celtic but what if he told me things were bad there?”  Which Jaroslaw laughed at.

“Lukasz and I will have lots to talk about, we are both Legia supporters.

“I’m not going to argue about whether the Scottish or Polish league is better, everyone is entitled to their opinion on this.  I’m pretty sure we have no club in Poland who can compare to Celtic, whatever aspect you analyse, economic issues, organisation, supporters, stadium or anything.

“Let’s not forget Celtic play in Europe every year and battle for the biggest prizes.

“In a way going to Celtic is a dream come true but my dreams will have to change.  I will not going the Bhoys and feel happy, my ambitions will have to move on.  I am sure Lionel Messi still has something to win and achieve.  He has never been the champion of the world and that is why he must improve.  I’m pretty sure I will not be short of incentives.

“Celtic is a very big deal for me but you do not climb the mountain and say, OK, I’m done.

“My acclimatisation is going to me easier in many aspects.  I know the British game, I know what the coaches expectations are.  During my years in England I learned the language so I’ll not have problems with communication.”

According to the Snyde panel tonight,

currently, the three SPHell players closest to being world class are:

Big Vic (a bit early for such an audacious claim)

Naibalance (surely, they were judging him on his hun uberness)

However, to be fair to the panel oozing football expertise and impartiality, who could disagree with their third choice, Gregg Wylde. Nobody laughed in the studio, nobody disagreed. Nobody called in with cries of disbelief.

Comedy Gold. I’ll be tuning in nightly!

That is good to hear m8. I am glad that he has backed Mo Bangura as well as it seems a lot of people have written the guy off when he has had very little chance to show what he can do so far.

  8. Was listening to the latest CU podcast ‘Peter Lawwell The Movie’ this morning, very good discussion about Moneyball and also the Lyon way of doing things.

Sounds very much like PL is well aware of these methods, buying strategies ie: buy young, have the final word on signings from one man and one who is not the manger.

Signing policy didnt work last season but seems to be doing well this season though quality experience would make things a lot easier, it would have won the league last season. The last Lyon team to win the Ligue had an experienced spine Cris, Boumsong, Juninho plus Grosso & Réveillère. Im sure that Lyon teams average age wasnt 22.7, somebody has got too carried away with the buy young for sell on idea.

Not complaining but hope those in charge are aware of the balance that is needed betwen kids and experience, last season is history and the scouts are doing a great job.

Thing is… The Moneyball way of thinking, Lyon method and ‘asset management’ have all been raised on CQN, what came first? The idea on CQN or PL’s idea?

  9. Without wishing to take tonights debate in a different direction, what about this below from Rangers Media Forum:

A CHEF has been suspended by Rangers after posting photos of himself at IRA shrines on Facebook.

Jamie McGinness was sent home from the club’s training ground when pictures of him beside a mural of Republican Bobby Sands and at an IRA garden of remembrance appeared on his profile page.

Grinning McGinness is pictured giving the thumbs-up next to another large mural in Belfast depicting the Starry Plough – a symbol of the Irish Republican movement – which says “Support Republican Socialist Political Prisoners”.

Catering chiefs at Murray Park, near Glasgow, have suspended McGinness pending a probe.

In a series of photos, McGinness can be seen standing next to a memorial in Belfast’s Falls Road, a Republican stronghold.

The black shrine commemorates killed members of IRA’s Belfast Brigade “D” Company.

Five pictures on McGinness’s personal page show a gable end mural to IRA hunger strike leader Bobby Sands, who died in the Maze Prison near Lisburn in 1981.

It is emblazoned with the Republican slogan: “Our revenge will be the laughter of our children” and hails Sands as a “poet, revolutionary, IRA volunteer”.

The photos led Rangers fans to flood supporters’ websites with calls for McGinness to be sacked immediately.

Steven Smith of the Rangers Supporters’ Trust, told the Record: “I have seen the pictures and find them abhorrent. It raises questions about how someone who follows that kind of terrorist agenda can work for Rangers.

“It is terrible that a man who supports any proscribed terrorist organisation can end up with a job at a football club.

“People fail to realise that their activities online can be clearly and easily tracked.

“This shows that people should use social networking sites responsibly and not as a vehicle to propagate their repulsive views.”

Last night, a spokeswoman for Rangers’ catering firm Azure said: “We take speculation of this nature very seriously and have suspended this employee pending a full investigation.”

Vogue punter – many thanks. Hilarious.

MWD – re. rules on appeal – perhaps there is a moral perspective here? It is what they did after they won the appeal.

McCulloch appealed and subsequently injured a Celtic player.

Rangers players routinely injure Celtic players and any opportunity to prevent that should be welcomed.

Lafferty on Hinkel, Bougherra on Hooper (who has not yet recovered) and McCulloch on Kayal are just a few of the recent examples.

During this time I cannot recall one of theirs being seriously injured by one of us.

True, but I’m surprised they didn’t mention wee Sone, the new Davy Cooper or, less controversially, the SPL’s most consistent and creative scottish midfielder over the last decade or so, fleckinho. It’s only a matter of time before his greatness shines through. It nearly did again only 2 weeks ago!

Those jealous tims will be hoping we let him go for a miserly £10m or so!

  14. But I thought Wylde was the new John Fleck, who was himself touted as the new Wayne Rooney – If Wayne Rooney went to Blackpool for more 1st team experience.

And regards Naismith and World Class in the same sentence – I can only think the Olympics has introduced a Dead Man’s Fall competition.

World Class – meaning good enough to play anywhere in the World – In Scotland that means managing to get a first team place at Glasgow Rangers and staying there.

Edu, Bocanegra, Bartley, Healy (best finisher in the SPL as well I read somewhere)

I’ve just threw up a little bit in my mouth…

  18. Jeezo – Notthebus, do you live in the Parkhead Forge?!!

Other points raised during the meet Lenny session :-

FF – there’s a contractual agreement with Newcastle that we can buy him at the end of the season – we will invoke the agreement subject to doing a deal with his agent. Trying to get him to come out of his shell more – away in Europe he came of age and will only get better.

Charlie M – most consistent player in the team after shaky start to the season. His best position is CH and he sees us as having CM and one other as our regular central defence.

Lennoxtown injuries – pitches were slippy causing soft tissue injuries – we have now out down chemicals which have changed the surface, much better.

Bangura – in the same boat as KC – suffered from stop start season, now back in training and will get an opportunity in the second half of the season. NL and his staff see him in training and he definately has what it takes.

Hoops – PL told him to tell Southampton “no deal and don’t bother phoning back”. Neil was at pains to stress that it is him (Neil) that makes all football decisions.

Motherwell away was for him the changing point in the season – the team started to believe in themselves and had a spark about them.

Fojut – cant see us paying to bring him in early. Ibrahim – Neil sees him a bit like Naka with more pace, but for next season.

McGeoch, George and Twardsyk are pushing and will come into greater contention next season.

Green Brigade – Neil loves them, “very important entity, special and unique in the UK – they bring colour and imagination to
