Keep our name out of it, Salmond

1113

I’ve heard some utter tosh from politicians over the years but never anything so blatantly untrue as the comments from our First Minister, Alex Salmond, reported today.  This clown is telling people Rangers need to be saved for the sake of Celtic.  He said:

“The most diehard Celtic supporter understands that Celtic can’t prosper unless Rangers are there. The rest of the clubs understand that as well. Therefore you have to have cognisance of these things when you’re pursuing public policy.

Keep our name out of it you incoherent fool.

If our prosperity depends on the survival of Rangers it’s time our values and priorities changed.  You of all people should know this after your lecturing last year.  Celtic have not been well served by their association with Rangers, nor vice versa.  As a combined entity, the ‘Old Firm’ have not been good for Scotland.

I’m keen to hear what his “public policy” on the matter is.  Salmond goes on to say:

“We’ve certainly been arguing to HMRC on one hand, and indeed to Rangers, to for goodness sake get a settlement, get a settlement and a structure over time whereby Rangers can continue because Rangers must continue for the future of Scottish football and for the fabric of the country.”

How dare you argue with HMRC?  Even Rangers admit the potential underpayment could be £75m.  How many nurses, teachers and policemen would that employ, Mr Salmond?  This is the true cost of his position.

This sorry business has nothing to do with Celtic, I hope our club make this clear to provocative politicians.  All you die-hard Celtic supporters out there better let this man know he has no right to speak for you.

“Fabric of the country”. He got that bit right, alas.

  1. Getting clearer by the minute.

LBG – They got paid off – £18mill is the magic number – floating charge reassigned.

Ticketus – They paid out money to ‘TFOD’ on the strength of season ticket sales.

    Version 1 – 75K season tickets / 3 years – £9.5mill paid back in July 2011.

    Version 2 – 102K season tickets / 4 years – £3mill paid back in July 2011.

CW – Skint, puts nothing into the deal but the blood sweat and tears of the true entrepreneur.

CW – Wavetower bid vehicle soon renamed TFOD Big hold the £18mill floating charge.

Consequently the floating charge never goes near TFOD FC / Small.

Ticketus would then deal with TFOD Big.

If the floating charge is given to them as security would there be a need for any official announcements?

It is TFOD FC that is in administration.

Consequently the situation at TFOD Big is as clear as mud.

Any thoughts on how an insight into this entity can be gained?

Does CW have any obligation to open up to the administrators?

I can’t see Ticketus getting stiffed over this.

If CW has managed it then there really is one born every minute.

My thoughts on the club is that the wages and running costs seem very high for a thin squad and a rundown stadium.

Wage costs of £2.5mill per month seem excessive.

Even 3 bumper deals would not make that much difference.

One thing that does spring to mind – was CW getting paid weekly?

Would another 10 days have made any difference to his fees / inflated interest charges?

MY god we didnt expect any fair play from the laptop loyal or scottish football HQ , but how many of us expected government minister siding with tax evaders

Me for one…. the SNP pandered to the Huns with their Offensive Irish Songs on the Way to a Match bill, why wouldn’t they get involved with this? Seriously, much as I enjoy watching Salmond ply his chosen trade, he’d sell the coat off my back if he thought there was a vote in it. That’s not neccessarily a criticism btw!

Alex Salmond backtracking on his ‘Celtic need Rangers’ remarks, claiming he didn’t quite mean what he said. More @theheraldpaper soon.

Quelle suprise, seems Salmond doesn’t have a clue! :)

  5. Just like me, Mister Salmond truly believes in Scottish Enterprise.

That’s as far as I can go at this point.

  6. Got it now its simple, if William of Orange created the taxation in the 1st place then why should they have to pay tax as surely it was put in place to keep him well off, as they are the direct descendants of said man!!!

Salmond claims his comments were ‘misunderstanding’, adding he didn’t mean to ‘imply that Celtic’s finances were in any way under question’.

    Shameless, absolutely shameless.

GTF Salmond, we all heard you.

I thought the likes of Salmond and Cameron were responsible for protecting the public purse, yet both of them today came out in defence of tax dodgers. No wonder the both the UK and Scotland are skint with that attitude

Bhoys I think we should all write a letter to Celtic advising if Huns lose the taxcase then the trophys gained by cheating must be wiped from their records.

Think of the embarrassment this will cause them, shows to the world they are cheats.

If the MBB hasn’t been paying tax since he took over.

At what point last season did he take over at the huns.

Had the mib already won them the league before the tax evasion started.

    Was it not may.

I was just wondering if they were evading tax at anytime during last season.

  15. Will Celtic tell Tennents that they will no longer sign up to a joint sponsorship deal with the filth? Would we want to be in a joint deal with a company who have been cheating the taxman for years? This “old firm” tag we have been unhappy with for a long time needs to be liquidated and die with the name RFC.

2013 I believe the sponsorship ends? We need to seek a new and independant sponsor now.

    http://news.stv.tv/scotland/west-central/297828-24m-loan-for-rangers-future-season-ticket-sales-went-to-owner-craig-whytes-company/

A £24m loan in exchange for Rangers season ticket sales went into the bank account of owner Craig Whyte’s company.

The revelation surrounding the money from London firm Ticketus came as administrators claimed they had received “several expressions of interest” in the crisis-hit club.

On Thursday insolvency firm Duff and Phelps confirmed that Mr Whyte had secured the loan on future season ticket sales for four years after he took over last May.

Administrator David Whitehouse said: “We are looking into that [the deal with Ticketus] and trying to understand.

“The funds from Ticketus didn’t come through the club’s accounts. They went through those of a parent company.”

Mr Whitehouse told a news conference at Ibrox that the administrators were working to find the “visibility” of the money deposited by Ticketus.

He also told reporters that he was seeking documentation from Rangers former lawyers in relation to the deal.

  21. INCOME FOR THE HORRIBLES:

I am facinated by ‘income’ generated by ticket sales. Facinated, confused & intrigued to be fully accurate.

If I’ve followed the story so far it goes like this…

Dundee U Have the income from the ticket sales to their own fans resulting from the the S Cup tie at Ibroke but The Horribles have refused to hand over the total gate share applicable as per the Cup rules.

Dunfermline have the income from the ticket sales to their own fans for the home SPL match at EE Park but The Horribles have refused to hand over the income from the ticket sales made direct to their own fans.

ICT was expecting an income from the tickets The Horribles sold in advance for the scheduled game at Inverness on 26/02. The Horribles have refused to hand over the income from tickets already sold.

Since The Horribles will not pay other clubs for tickets surely no other club will give money to them?

    The questions I have are:

Could Kilmarnock, assuming they sold tickets for Saturdays game direct to their fans & assuming Killie didn’t pay up front, decide not to pay Rangers?

Will ITC, assuming not all away tickets were sold for their home match, be able to issue tickets for purchase direct from tITC for the balance?

Dundee U have them at home early March, presumably they will only send tickets to them if they get paid up front?

Hearts will be at Ibroke in March and I think away tickets are sold via Ibroke. Will Hearts fans give them money?

What will Celtic do? Pay them up-front?

Mwell have them at home – same as DU. Will The Horribles be able to pay up-front? Will they ask Mwell to sell direct?

At the moment it seems The Horribles are quids in whether they play at home or away. Or am I missing something?

  22. Another Amadeus exclusive! You guys are off your head, he doesn’t even know the huns are in administration, thinks its 9 days away, why on earth would you seek further info from such an unreliable source? Beats me.
